  2. I have the least amount of knowledge when it comes to car audio systems, and that is why I have to ask you the following 4 questions. I would GREATLY appreciate any answers. 1) I just want to replace the speakers with better ones as I don’t want to drill holes in the door panel for tweeters. Does that mean that I have to buy “coaxial” speakers, instead of “component” speakers? 2)Assume that the price for the following 4 brands are the same . What brand would you choose? MB Quart, Polk Audio, Alpine, JBL 3) Whichever brand you just chose from above, can you please recommend your model preference? MB Quart - Discus 2-Way Car Speakers with Mica-Filled Poly Con…

  6. I haven't installed anything in a year, but my buddy needs an experienced mind. He's got an eighth gen civic si, and would like to replace the stock, 8" sub. He's up for complete removal, since he knows he won't get a true subwoofer-type sound without an enclosure or sealing the trunk. Now, it needs to be extremely stealth (carpeted box, all black, tucked in the corner, no visible wires anywhere). He's dead-set on a type-r and an alpine 500W amp to match. I'll set him up with some black knu wiring, too. Two options I've thought of for the box: -Sealed, cut to the shape of the rear, side of the trunk, carpeted, with a grille. -bandpass, carpeted, ported up and to…

  11. Hey fellow SSA members, tonight i am devoted to learn this to the fullest, so there will be a lot written.. and questions as i go along, big thanks goes out to ANeonRider because this is all based off his How To: Set your Amplifier Gain - SSA Car Audio Forum (I'll be working at the thread for about 30min to an hour before posting) THIS IS GOING TO HAVE QUESTIONS THAT ARE DUMB... but i need to ask them to get it clear and have no doubts. To figure out what voltage you should set the gains to, multiply the RMS power of the amplifiers output by the impedance of the speaker, then find the square root of that number. -- I'm going to be using: PDX 4.100 Alpine Type R comps *4 …

I've been looking at peoples builds that involve walls. My question is could you just build a box and stand it up to facing forward then seal it off? How come you have to secure the box so much when its walled but when you have it laying normal it doesn't have to be?

With SSaudio going down and me working a ton lately i havent been able to get online, but I am back and kicking again. Heres a little update. I have some major plans coming up in the near future. Tomorrow i will be buying a 1990 Honda CRX, for Street A. The CRX is to replace my 92 Honda Civic, pictures can be found at www.team-bio.com. I realized that my Civic isnt going to get any louder than it is. Currently it is at 143.1, but might have changed as i did something yesterday and havent played with it. Anyways, Im going to be trying to get into the 48s in Street A with my crx. What I will be running in the car for the system is basically going to be all my stuff outta my …

Simple question i can't find the answer to. So, if i have an amp that does 100w per channel, does the 100 get split between tweet, and mid? will the mid and tweet both get 100w or would the 100w be split between them?

i thought i was done deciding on my new setup but something else crossed my mind, and now I need a little help choosing. I'm gonna be running the SSA Dcons which are 300 rms a piece. My amp is the Elemental Designs Nine.1(1200 rms). Instead of building the system around the car I've decided to get a car around my system, though the car will probably be around a 95-97 Cutlass Supreme or Monte Carlo. The new dilemma I have is I want something different than the usual, which will be 10's I just can't decide on 3 or 4. I know that in a trunk car subs back port back is louder to the ear (the three tens) but if I did four 10's sub up port back would that be louder since there w…

just finished putting a memphis pr10 in a 1ft^3 box, tuned to about 37-38 hz ( i lenghtened the port 3/4" ofer the recommended, which would have been 40hz), being pushed by a memphis pr140...yep, a whooping 70 wrms!! anyway...ummmm..WOW! while not a spl monster, it is loud! i am definitely going to have to find a 200-250 wrms amp and see what happens! some pics soon...i didn't take pics of the build, but i will take some of the semi finished box ( i will carpet it gray in a week or so).. it's also very musical.i am indeed impressed. maybe it was thinking how loud it wouldn't be,it is just 70 wrms and check my sig to see what i'm used too, that i set myself up for failure.…

This amps specs are 4ohms 1100 watts, 2ohms 1500 watts, and 4ohms 2000 watts Bridged. What I wanted to know since this new amp is more powerful should should I add…

So I was looking at a vid of some 18" BLs and this guy said he wants to put a 12" BTL a 15" BTL and a 18" BTL. When I asked him why he said he wanted all ranges of bass. So we started arguing about this and how i think it's completly retarded and he thinks it's gonna get him a "full range of bass" Any input on what this guy is talking about?
