Blew the power supply in my amp. Had it fixed and just installed the amp back in. On zero volume there is a loud alien like sound as soon as i turn on the headunit. Could this be a bad ground? My right mid fell from its baffle and the frame was resting on the metal door. Did this ground blow something else? Thanks for any input. Steve

Well I started my first car audio install, after not knowing anything half a year ago, thx to forums and helpfull ppl I learned and decided to do everything myself, and I was very carefull unhooked battery, made sure ground points are good, took my time untill I did a big mistake..... ......I installed Sundown 100.4 and Sundown 125.2 and Pioneer PRS880, hooked everything up and wanted to set the gains the dmm way. I hooked the positive back to the battery and I saw sparks flying on battery port, looked kinda strange, but I connected it anyway and I heard a lound bang in the back of a car,oh oh. Amps were in protect mode and I could not find the problem, I thought to try …

yes, I know kicker isn't a real high end brand but i got an excellent deal on 2 12 inch L5s and a kenwood kac 9152D 900 rms mono amp. the guy i bought them from built a very piss poor box out of subflooring material and basically gestimated a slotted port dimension. the box performs about as well as a dual brand bandpass box. he was using a head unit with a very good EQ and in his integra the drivers performed well all things considered. in my jeep however, they only operate (I'm guessing here) in the 50 to 65 hz range well and only give me a bit of a hum in the low range. now, I know you can still get a good low end response out of a set of 12s. I've witnessed this. I've…

I have a 2008 Mustang GT/CS that I'm in the process of installling a complete system in. I'm ordering either 1 or 2 12" SKAR audio VVX's pushed by a AP15001D, with a custom ported box for the lows. I will be running my audio through a Pioneer AVHP3100DVD HU. I want to replace the factory door speakers so that I have the ability for the sound to not get drowned out by the subs. I'm not looking for the bentley of speakers, so I'm going to try and keep a budget of 500$ for a set of speakers for the doors and an amplifer. Mounting location: Front Doors Size: 6x8" Power: In need of amp Budget: 500$ I've never been in anyones car with a proper audio system so I have no refre…

edit by M5: Topic split to allow the OP to have his thread back. Split from here: what Hybrids have you used? just curious as well, what cost less that in your opinion outperforms? I am looking to try some new mid-bass drivers for the doors, so I never mind trying new equipment. Just as far as midranges I have never found anything to touch my L4's

ok so my friend asked me to pick out some options for his first system. he has a 05 impala stock batt. he is not worried about sq; he just wants a daily driver.about 300$ for the subs and i told him to get a ap 1500. seats fold down he is not trying to seal off the trunk. he wanted 2 p1 15s i told him not to do that told him get 3 ia 187 12s, 1 ia li 15 , 2 rex 12s, or 1 15 fi bl. is there any other suggestions i could give him. i also told him to get a new batt. he is not worried about taking up the whole trunk, also the icon 15 was suggested.

  15. So I'm in the process of saving up cash for my new system. I'm almost 17 and working at mcdonalds bringing in about 150-200 a week. But anyways here we go, I only have room for 1 15 or 2 12's yes I considered taking out my backseats and making a 2 18" wall but that's a little drastic. Thought about going with a BTL 15 and putting it on a 3500 (either aq or sundown) But figured for a little more money I could get 2 12" BTLs and put them on 2 2k's (aq2200 or sundown2000) Both would be going in roughly 4 cubes @ 32 hz Is it worth the extra money for 2 12" btls? Only a little more cone area and 1000 more watts.

Give me some input!!!!!!! A few more things This is going in a 96 jimmy with 3 layers of second skin and for power as of right now we have a 300amp iraggi alt with the process of building a bracket for the 2nd alt I have sitting here. Batts we have a yellow top under hood and a bt120 shuriken in the back. I have 3 runs of 1/0 monster cable 2 from the alt and one connecting batts. I have 6 grounds of 1/0 1 that goes from that batt front to back and other 5 go directly to chasis. A video …

ok so im going to have to fi bl 15s and im going to have them on a crescendo bc3500 and was wondering about the wiring. so for one sub i would have - to - and one - going out. then + to + and + out too and then the same for the other sub. and the amp has two +'s and two -'s and i put the wires from one sub into the + and - beside each other and the same for the other sub is that a 2 ohm load? sorry if its confusing tried explaining it the best i could.

I've searched, and all the topics i've found are for trunks, which you can bolt, or use velcro. My box will be taking up 2 of the 3 rear seats, and i can't bolt it, and i also don't think i can velcro without ruining the seats. I was thinking L brackets, but i need something more flexible than that to make it to the rear panel of the truck cab. Suggestions?

So i am planning to rebuild and i was planning on 4 15's but don't want to give up that much space. I would like to keep it at the c-pillar. So i was thinking 3 15's. So what would i have to worry about wiring up 3 subs? I have 2 AQ2200d to power them so if i strap them i would like to stay near the 2 ohm's. I dont know much about box rise but if i had them wired at 1.5ohm's would that be ok? What other suggestions do you guys have

  24. I figured I only have one chance to do it right, so I thought it would be best to ask. I had planned on using my circle jig with my dremel but because of the design, I can't get the jig to sit flush with the surface to be cut. What's the best method to cut a hole for 6.5" and 1" tweeter?
