First, what is the different between the Original, and the Extreme Dynamat? Because, I am thinking of just getting two packs of the Original Speaker Kits. A set for up front, and a set in the back. I didnt think I would need to shell out for extreme. Should work all in the same manor right? I'm only going to put in the new '07 Type R comps and coax's. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12644 And also, my car is a 2002 Honda civic SI. I believe it has a 70 amp alternator. My sub amp will be pulling 1300wrms and speaker amp doing 60 wrms a channel. So, will I need a capacitor? If so, how many farads? What brand is good? Because I also have after market…

Hi Guys, I think some people from SMD might have posted here about this already. Im the one behind the app and proud to get something out there finally Android app for box tuning is finally here...FREE... This is Beta still and can still be buggy. I am constantly working on updates and fixes and new features though. The app is for android 2.1 - 15+ , so hard to test when developing. Currently the app allows to calculate box specs and there is a total resistance calculator. The app can be found by searching "box tune calculator" and can also be viewed here My app If you have any requests of what features you want, please let me know and i can add them. if there are any cr…

Hey guys! I drive a Ford Expedition and I pretty much made up my mind on my upgrade. Now I have two Diamond Audio d6 components in the front and two d6 coaxials in the rear powered by Diamond Audio d3 500.4 amp, runing 4 guage power and ground wires to the amp. I currently have two Diamond audio d3 15 inch woofers powered by Mmats 2000.1. I want to replace the subs with four Ascendant Audio Havocs and having two Mmats 3500.1 powering them or should I get two 18's instead with one of the Mmats amps powering them. The box is going to be ported tuned at 32hz. I'm more into sq but I also want to feel the bass in my bones when I need to lol. I listen to a wide range of music. …

Hey, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I bought some 6.5" Focal component speakers for my 99 Civic LX which has 6.5" stock speakers. The problem is that the Focals appear to be a hair larger than they specified... The diameter of the speaker is a good 1-2mm wider than claimed, which means I'm forced to do some modification. I would probably just huck them on eBay, except a) I really like their sound, and b) I already drilled / installed the tweeters on my door panel. So I'm left with a tricky situation. I'm debating whether or not I should be cutting the metal ring around the speaker, or the plastic on my door. They both have pros and cons and while I'm slightly handy, I'm…

  7. Ok, so as stated in the title these are my thoughts and OPINIONS on using a plate amp to power a subwoofer setup in a house and going active in a home environment. This was wrote in a short time period late a night so deal with any rambling that I did and please correct me where you see fit. I would like ya'lls opinion on this article and what needs to be changed, etc, etc. KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE ALL MY OPINIONS, NOT FACT. Thinking of using a big badass rack amp to drive your subs in your house? Thinking of going active in your home setup? If so, you may want to read this

Now for the question . Is it better to run in a daily driver setup 1 or 2 ohms? I there really a difference between the two besides the resistance in the current.

  11. First, a little history, it's been about 2 years now that I haven't had subs, I traded in my Chevy Blazer for a leased Cruze, so I didn't put my subs in it, I let my friend use them. Now I no longer have the Cruze, I now own an Impala. The set up I ran in my Blazer was 2 Cerwin Vega S.1000 amps strapped together powering 2 Pioneer Premier Championship Series 12s at 1000wrms a piece. I loved it, they hit harder than anyone elses set up that I knew and they sounded really nice. One of the amps ended up blowing, so I only have one of them now, and the subs are stuck in my buddy's trunk. Now I know 2 Pioneer 12s doesn't sound like it'd be the greatest system in the world, so …

Hello fellow car audio fans. I am fairly new to the car audio world, but would like to get into competiting in a few local SPL comps in my 2003 Blazer 4 door. Not looking for anything special, not looking to spend alot of money, but I would like to get a 140dB in the Street A class. Prefer going the single 12" route, but its still up in the air. I do know I want Incriminator Audio woofer(s), but do not want to have to change alternators or anything terribly techincal. All input/suggestions will be GREATLY apprecaited. Thanks for your time.! I look forward to discussing my build with everyone!

Well my starting batt decided to poop out today. I noticed a lower charging voltage than normal, I shut my truck off and voltage dropped from 12.8 to 12 with in 5 min so my front batt is pulling my rear batt down. I went outside an hour later and it was at 10.5 so I'm guessing bad cell in my front batt, it is 5 or 6 yrs old. So I am prolly gonna get a dura last platinum. It's the agm version of the duralast gold. Any other suggestions?

    I will be starting another small build in my 530i soon and i'm trying to make good informed descisions on sub amps. I've been browsing different forums and reading different articles discussing topics like amplifier distortion and clipping. Since i first got into car audio i have not ran anything but cheap budget systems. The amps i've used in the past 7 or 8 years on my subs have been : (excuse all of the weak sauce) 1. An old Concept cc-504a - ( i think 100 x 4 @ 4 ohms) 2. California Profile AP1000M ( 500 x 1 @ 2 ohms ) 3. Kenwood 9103d ( 900 x 1 @ 2 ohms ) 4. SPL DK2-2400 ( 540 x 2 @ 2ohms ) 5. Kicker ZX 400.1 ( 400 x 1 @ 2 ohms) 6. Audiopipe AP 3000 ( 3000 x 1 @ 2 oh…

I'm about to step in and start editing some more music for custom purposes for car audio and want to know what frequency range i should focus on? This project will mainly be focused on older 70s-80s rock that had no bass hardly. I want to bring out frequencies that just didn't audibly exist before. I've done this before a while back and some people have the custom 16 min Pink floyd track i did but now i want to do this... So, what frequency to you is LOWWWWwwww? i can bring it out all the way to 1hz but there comes a point to where it's too low so i need to know how low is too low really. Anyone who listens to these tracks can mainly only benefit from it from a setup whe…
