Hey guys I'm saving up for the BTL 15" setup as I stated before in a different topic.. I'm running into quite a few money issues and the process is sadly being delayed for me which really sucks for now I just have 2 12" kicker CVR's doing around a weak 115 in a sealed box.. I heard MANY great things about ported boxes and want to try to build one but I'm just 17 and never done this before and I figure now is a great time to learn. I went to www.homedepot.com to try and find some 3/4th" MDF wood as someone on here told me to do but was unable to find any as far as the -online site- goes. I know building another sealed box is easy just 4 panels and 2 12" holes in one very …

Struggling to get my head round this. I've got 1 battery up front. Then I've got/will have 6-8hawkers in the footwells. Most likely to be 2 behind drivers seat, 2 behind passenger seat and 2 in the front footwell. I'll only be using the hawkers when showing off or at shows. I've got two sundown saz-3500s & ATM 1 phd 2200. Cable wise I've got 25-30m of 50mm2 & a 5m run of 150mm2. What is going to be the best way of wiring this up? Also how would you fuse it? That's going to be a lot of fuses if I put one inbetween each battery. Anyone used these. http://www.blueheronmarine.com/files/BlueSea_2009_Fuses.pdf

Hey guys my name is Alex I'm 17 and have been very addicted to car audio my whole life even hooking them up in my room etc. However I have a 1994 Buick Lesabre currently running 2 12" kicker comps in a sealed box doing barely 110 dbs which to alot of people is very low so I want to upgrade to 1 15" fi btl fully loaded dual 2 ohm to wire it at 1 ohm p chamfer, cooling, hixmcoil, daily, i heat ring, non universal, white dust cap were the options I thought were the best ones. Here is the issue I need a box that will give me the best SPL/db readings possible sound quality is not a huge issue for me the box will be in a sealed trunk very little air gets in the car with the bac…

Hi everyone, just had a question about competitions. Is there a general rule where you cant sit in your vehicle at a certain db level? I'm talking about hearing safety. I may want to carry that over into my daily driver practices.

Instead of cutting a hole for a terminal cup I plan on running a 1/4 inch or so bolt through the side of my sub box. My question is, what type of bolt would be best for power/signal transfer? -Standard Steel -Stainless Steel -Brass -Aluminum -Chrome -Grade 8 Steel -Copper (not sure I can find it) There is just so many options and I don't know what to choose. Thanks All

Granted there are 2 types of consumption even in comp there are definite demarcations to power limits. With the introduction of 3k, 4.5k, 10k and strap-able options where does a person draw the line which is akin to Jumping the Shark?

Hey fellow SSA members, tonight i am devoted to learn this to the fullest, so there will be a lot written.. and questions as i go along, big thanks goes out to ANeonRider because this is all based off his How To: Set your Amplifier Gain - SSA Car Audio Forum (I'll be working at the thread for about 30min to an hour before posting) THIS IS GOING TO HAVE QUESTIONS THAT ARE DUMB... but i need to ask them to get it clear and have no doubts. To figure out what voltage you should set the gains to, multiply the RMS power of the amplifiers output by the impedance of the speaker, then find the square root of that number. -- I'm going to be using: PDX 4.100 Alpine Type R comps *4 …

I'm sure there are a ton of these posts, but I figured I'd throw mine out there and get some insight. Kinetik HC1400 JVC El Kameleon 12" AA Havoc Sundown 1500D Clarion DPX2251 DLS Ultimate UP6i RaaMmat BXT I mainly listen to rock/metal, and I need to have high volume levels with as little distortion as possible. The thing I'm concerned about the most is the 'DLS' speakers. As far as I've searched, (just about everywhere,) they've gotten rave reviews. My prior selection was a set of Focal 165KRX2's, so the DLS setup is a huge drop in price. The cost isn't all that big of a deal, but it does play a factor. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. However, i…

So today i went to replace my girlfriends hifonics bxi 610 with my old rd 1000.1 v1 amp. Before i made the swap she said sub was playing. After i swap the amps i go to tune the amp by ear and absolulately zero output from the sub. So i grab my dmm and turn it to the ohms setting, with the car off it reads .9-1.1 but when i turn the car on it goes to -23-25. first i think maybe the sub has a bad lead or something so i go grab another perfectly working sub and get the same results. Then i was thinking its gotta be the amp then so i switch them back, same results on both subs and both amps. So now shes without beats and its all my fault of course so i wont hear the end of it…

Hello once again, last time I wrote here I was debating on getting 2 10's, and a amp looking to spend maybe about $500 to $600, then I stopped chasing a dream that was a bit out of my grasps... I've always loved car audio, my friend "Hove" who is a member here who is the one who got me into all this mess lol, has had a system since jr high school. So needless to say, I'd like to introduce myself, and say the last time I spoke here I planned on limiting myself to overstock mass production MTX crap with a box and amp built into it, lol. Some how my buddy "Hove" talked me into getting something else... So heres what i ordered... I ordered: Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D FI BL 15" i…

I just bought a used JL Audio cleansweep and installed it tonight, but I do not have the calibration cd. If anyone happens to have the CD, could you rip it for me and email it to me. I think the only track I need is #1. My email addy is [email protected]. I would be most appreciative. I know that I can get the CD from JL, but I would like to have the track as soon as possible. Thanks so much!
