Ok so I get spiffs at my job when I sell certain products and I got some AMex gift card to spend. The bad thing is I can only use them at certain places. As far as anything car audio I can use these cards at Best Buy, Crutchfield, and from Amazon.cm. Looking around Amazon, I have found a few deadener products and would like to hear thoughts on these. Here is what I can find so please let me know if you have ever used this and would recommend any of it. Currently I have one 15" XCON in a ported box powered by a DC Audio 5K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). I built the box with .75" birch and double walled the whole box. I am thinking about getting the new IA Death Penalty and stepping down to a 12" sub. My question is, do you think I should build a double walled box for the 12" DP on a DC 5K at 2 ohms? I don't really want to mess around with dowels for bracing and fiberglass to hold them in. And the XCON is great, I love it, but I have wanted a Death Penalty for a long time and need to step down in size so I can get some trunk room back for an air tank and compressors.

So I was bored tonight and I was going through my iTunes looking for songs that could be used as a show off playlist. I was looking through various artists and importing the audio files into Audacity. When I used the plot spectrum feature the absolute highest peak bass note was at -12db so far. That was a song off a bass cd I have. So that has me wondering. When I set my gains I used a 0 db test tone at 50 hz. I have control of the sub output level via the HU. Now I know songs never hit 0 db, so when I'm really wanting to bump I'll turn the level to +5 which really gets some songs hitting hard. One song that bangs hard is Young Jeezy " My Hood" In looking at the peaks I s…

  5. Hello guys I have a 1995 Mercedes E320 Sedan, and have been figuring out what I should upgrade my amazing skar evl-12 in a 34hz ported box with and I think the best bang for buck option that will make a noticeable difference is the sundown sa classic series from yardsale. I will be powering it with the same amp that I use on my skar(a sundown sfb-1500d), I know they can handle more the 1700w rms but my electrical system will be overdriven if I keep upgrading amps, I think I will put 2 sa classic-12s in a 4.5 cubic ft box tuned to 35hz slightly bigger than the manufacture recommends. I might potentially upgrade to the sia 1750d with 1/0 guage ofc wire in the future. I don…

i haven't done anything with audio in months, and i'm wanting to make a new box.. just making sure everythings right, as i didn't know much to begin with lol. To get the vent length, i'm using: . Is that right? it seems like theres a ton of equations for the same thing, and i dont know which one to trust. The other question is that with Vb, am i using the volume of the box, including the port, or do i subtract the port from the volume? The second seems hard to do if what i'm trying to do is to find out how much volume the port is going to take up... Thanks for reading, and maybe answering :bigclap:

Okay, here is all the info... Head Unit - Ipod Mini 6gb Amp - Radioshack Optimus 150Watt 4 channel amp, all channels work! Speakers - At the moment I have a pair of old Pioneer 6x9's. Yeah I know right? But they do make noise. I also have a pair of 6.5 coax Pioneers that I would be willing to pull out of the rear deck of my saturn, since the rear speakers are not used. So, what I want is to search my options for better speakers. I just shiver at the notion of running a pair of 6x9's again and I would like to take advantage of all 4 channels. The speakers will need to be efficient. Any required crossovers would have to be built so they would need to be very simple. Also,…

Alright, today i went out to my Jeep Cherokee to upgrade my big3. The battery ground was simple, then i was about to do the battery to alt. Problem, there are 2 wires going out of the alt. and both go into the same loom(i think thats what they are called). Then I just start to look for the chasis ground point and i can not find it at all. So I am stuck, I am about to just say screw it. I know there are 1 or 2 guys on here who have a Jeep Cherokee, if they could help me out here, or if anyone has done work on Jeep Cherokee's to help me out. Thanks.

  12. Sorry about this really really , noobish question but i was doing research and couldn't find this answer out myself. Materials : AMP- http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Pyramid-PB448 (worst amp in life, but its all i have laying around , until my other one ships in mail. SUB - Fi SSD 15 DVC 2 ohm. Is it possible to wire up the left REAR channel of the amp to one voice coil and the other voice coil to the right REAR channel of the amp to get the 250rms per channel @ 4 ohm. to equal 500rms. or since the amp is brigdable , wire both voice coils together and bridge them into one channel? (AMP is not 1 ohm stable , so i'd need to wire them for 4 ohm.) Thanks i just wanted to a…

  13. Recently bought my Mechman 240a alternator for my truck. I'm curious as to what you guys do as I'm getting some pretty bad advice from a forum I visit often. It's about 50/50 some people say to fuse while others say don't. Some even call me lazy for thinking of not fusing. It's hard to figure it out when everyone has a different opinion. Mechman told me NOT to fuse it as it could introduce voltage drop across the fusing and it's not needed. Some others tell me my vehicle will burn to the ground. I have all the fuses and holders from KnuKonceptz but if it'll be fine without a fuse I have no issues not using one, makes it easier. So, what's the verdict on here? What d…

Hi- I have been using a ZCON 18" for about a year now and I love it. It's powered on an IA 40.1. I have an XS D3400 & XS XP3000 for a battery set up, and the stock 120 amp alternator. I've gotten it down so that the sub won't heat up during normal use and it's fairly loud. It get's a bit louder when I can crank it up but it also heats right up since my electrical begins to sag. I am working at a decently paying job for the summer and have decided I can either buy an additional ZCON 18" and making a new box or get a 300 amp singer alternator. I can only do one upgrade at this time, though both is obviously best. What would you guys think would be more beneficial (l…

Sorry if this is the incorrect thread. But I wasn't sure where to put it. Ok here we go. I'm planning on upgrading a lot of the parts on my car to Carbon fiber. my question since I don't have a lot of experience is, would it be a bad idea to install a Carbon fiber Hatch on my car? The reason I'm asking is because I am unsure of the strength of carbon fiber. I don't want to put it on, just to have my system shatter or crack it or something.

Hello everyone, I am designing my own box and was hoping someone could review it. Goal was no smaller than 4 cu ft. Its an 18" Treo SSX rebuilt by PSI. Treo recommended 50cu in. of port, BUT i told them I was using aero ports and they still recommended the same..? I was always under the impression they didnt need as much port? This design is 1x 8" port = 50 cu in. I can't figure out another configuration to hit 40 cu in, if 50 is to much. Tuned to about 35hz. (see attached) Any help is appreciated Sketchup for box.skp

  20. I don't know why I was just thinking about this, but since so many people seem to be so impressed by trunks shaking, wipers bouncing, door panels flapping, and all the resonance and noise that some sound systems produce in the vehicles we drive, I just felt like throwing this out there... Is it just me, or do some vehicles seem to be more willing to do these kind of things than others? Everything has its natural resonance frequency and has the ability to shake, flex, rattle, or anything else it may feel like doing. That being said, I've seen plenty of vehicles with extremely loud setups, and killer bass inside the vehicle, yet while standing out side and observing, they…

I am a Mecp advanced level installer working on my masters certification, and I was just wondering I work for Best Buy and the certifications are mainly for pay raises because you make a lot more if your certified. Anyway my question is how much does the certifications matter outside of buisness like Best Buy. I have looked at a lot of job opportunites and none of them really seem to care if your certified or not as long as you can install.

Hello everyone just need a little bit of advice if someone could help me out! Here is the scenario. I have a 2001 ford windstar minivan with this done: 2 alpine type rs hifonics brutus 1200 rms 4 guage wire with 60 amp inline fuse NO big three stock alternator Today I switched out my battery and put in a kinetik hc1800. On my way to work I experienced very bad voltage drops to the point the amp cut out. I did not experience this bad of voltage drop with my stock battery. I have money at my disposal and I also don't want to hurt my equipment I just don't know what is the next step?

I was talking to a guy in an audio shop and he was telling me about how each vehicle has a specific hz range which if you have your box set to that hz, that your subwoofer would sound louder in your vehicle. Which of course, the box would have to be built to the spec of the subwoofer. For example, if you have a blazer and its "specific hertz" (lets say it's 40hz), so if you have the box tuned @ 40hz then your sub would be playing at optimum loudness in a blazer. Is this true or false?
