Im not totally new to systems but i am fairly new to this site and ive looked at some of the forums. I have an s10 with an ex cab, and i was wanting a system that would hit hard but at the same time not sound really bad. From what i have read is that a BL is what im looking for, i was thinking 2 BL 12s in a ported box. Im not too sure on the amp or if those are the subs that i would want for sure. Some feedback would be pretty nice. its also been a while since ive hooked up a system if somebody could refresh my memory I do want about 2000 watts of power, and i dont want my lights dimming all the time like i had the problem in my car, i hear capacitors help with that but…

so i am looking into one of these for my next build. my idea is to have this installed so when i am bumping i can see how much rms is going to my subs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350286314830&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT i think this would be pretty cool to have as i could monitor how much rms the subs are getting and if the amps start to clip i will see it on the clamp meter. well i think i will see something but i could be wrong. so i would like some input: 1. would this we a useful tool 2. would you use one 3. yes i know this wouldn't tell me rms it would only tell me current but current multiply by the voltage i get wattage! my next buil…

So first off, I'm running a '99 Pontiac Grand Am. As we all know, the space in a Grand Am is EXTREMELY limited when it comes to car audio installs.. SO I had a few questions for my future install. I'm really looking into an 18" Fi BTL for the car, but there is not enough room in the trunk to build a box big enough to appropriately house this large of a subwoofer. So my questions are: 1) If I were to take out my back seats and just build a wall to put the sub in, would this be a better idea? 2) If so, what would I do about porting the "wall" to a specific frequency? (30-35 hertz) 3) If a wall isn't the best route to take in this situation, are there any other ways to s…

I was looking around last night for some 5.25s and i found a ad with a 6 ch. amp and a 4 ch. amp along with 3 sets of 5.25 component sets all old school audio art and 2 sets of pioneer 6.5'' midbass for $150 for everything. it's a round trip 7 hr. drive to pick it all up. Is it worth the drive and $150 i don't know much abouth the audio art brand. also the components are new in the box.

The Tang Band website won't load for me, so if someone could throw me a box size, for these two woofers: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-832 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-831 I am thinking about a new speaker-backpack, for the school show. I will build the box for this out of 1/2" mdf, tuned to 32hz, with one aero port. Also does anyone know of a small (size) 2 or 4 channel amp (4 channel preferred) i need a realtively cheap small footprint amp, to go in a backpack. i am purchasing a 12 volt, or 14 volt battery to power it. Nothing too powerful, i want to keep away from clipping it.

This is just something i have been wondering since i found out how a ported box works. I know that IB separates the front wave from the back. And I know that a port acts somewhat like another speaker above and at tuning. But what if you were to build a ported box, and seal off the port from the front wave entirely. like, the woofers face forward, and the port faces the trunk but you seal off the baffle from the trunk entirely. I googled it, but came up with nothing.

Hi there guys. I'm working on deciding what I want to buy for two door 2001 Jimmy. I have a Kenwood KDC-X492 headunit installed already, along with Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" components in the doors. My goals for the system is to have a setup that will get plenty loud while maintaining good musical balance. Now, I'm no noob to the car audio game, this truck will be getting the full treatment of sound deadening, HO alt, 2-3 batteries and more so it will handle about anything I want do with it much like I did my van. My questions are for those with experience with both the 10" SSD and 12" BTL series subwoofers from Fi. My original design for the truck was to use two 10" …

Alright, got my batteries, subs, sub amps, wires, terminal rings, HU, and crossover all figured out. Already have my highs/mids/amps. Working on an HT as well, looking to go surround 6.1 or 7.1 with 21" Maelstrom-X's as well, MTM with Kevin's Anarchy cheap tweet crossover. May get an HDTV... So, I want to be able to hook my laptop to my HU if I so desire, as well as to my HDTV to watch online on the HDTV. Will I need a special sound card? What kind of connector, as I believe the PXA-H701 will use up the optical cable/connector and the Ai-Net cable/connector. So far: 6 Shuriken BT-80's 4 Hifonics BXi2610D's Alpine W200 Alpine PXA-H701 HO alt TBD Already have: 4 Adire Aud…

well the positive on the box terminal melted and warped. this is the second time it has melted but the first time it didn't get ruined completely. but this time it did. the wiring from inside side of terminal to sub is 12g and the wire on the outside side to amp is 16g for 2000 watts rms i know it should be 8g. i know. but havent had the money to buy any yet. both times this has happened it has been the same case: the sub wouldnt hit until almost at 2/3 volume. or if i messed around with the terminal peices. (tightened and loosened them) in the first case i came to the conclusion that the two gold prongs that you see in the pictures on the inside side of the terminal…
