General Audio

I know not a lot of people carpet stuff anymore, I guess I'm stuck in the 80's lol. I've been trying to find brown carpet for the past couple months to no avail. I can find black and gray all day long. Have come across a couple pieces of tan. I suppose worst case I can get some tan and tone it with some tint, just would rather not if I can help it. Thought maybe you guys could point me in the right direction. Here is what I need (the lower half). Thanks!

You guys are great here and I know you know a lot. I have a friend that needs to find a high quality line out converter with a remote out for an amp. I don't want the Scosche because it's not the best out there. I was looking at the Southgate LOC but it doesn't have a remote out for the amp. Do any of you know a very good quality line out converter??? Thanks guys.

A few of you know, Nick convinced me into doing my own recones. So I ordered them, they came in and a day later I went to work. One little thing to mention, NO ONE BETTER TAKE AWAY MY ORIGINALITY!!! Props to Fi on the black baskets, shame they won't be seen in my build but they look pretty damn sweet!

So far i am looking at the kenwood KDC-mp242 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17549_...KDC-MP242.html# It has tuning and the rear control. My vehicle has a 6 3/8" mounting depth for the h/u, so anything over than is a no go. My paximum price range is around $100 - $120. Feel free to post your own experiences with different brands and components.

I had another G35 buddy come to me about a subwoofer setup a few weeks back. Seems he bought one of the prefab enclosures made to fit the trunk of the g35 that they sell on ebay. The problem... Box for 2 10" subs was only .8 cubes gross. He was looking at a few different subs, mainly JL, and was settling on the W3's. I happened to stumble across a great deal on RE SR10's and he ordered them, the nice thing about them is that they can play better than most given limited airspace. alright well i have a zcon 15 in my trunk in 4.5cf tuned around 31,32, ap3000,ho alt. 2 runs of 0 and 2 80ah batts,,, just did 143.2 at 31hz , just trying to see what all i can do to gain dbs without tuning higher cause i really like the lows,, will alot nicer amp help? more batts? what, i know deadening will help, should i just put it on everything thats metal? i did gain over a db with my girl sitting on the trunk so is there a way to make the trunk more sealed or something?

i was kinda surprised today when i was cruisin after work and i decided to play "bass i love you" and on the really really low note it flexed the crap out of my window so when i got home i stood outside the door and i did a little bit of a hairtrick on myself and i dont have very long hair so it wasnt awesome and it wasnt a massive hairtrick but for a single 15 i thought it was sweet! ive got it in a prefab box right now(bad i know) and its on a kicker 1000.1 ( not proud to admit that) and its probably not even getting 1000 watts right now ( clean power anyways) and it did a little hairtrick! have to try it on my girlfriend! its in an 06 chevy colorado crew cab by the way…

Basicly, Im starting from scratch. Active. I need some good info on which speakers I may need. It will be a 2way. With 6.5/7s and small format tweets. I need a "good" h/u that can go active. Im sorta on a budget, not a tight one, but not anything OVER 1 grand. Cheaper teh better. Lets see what we come up with.

Ok, 1st question. Ive heard of making cement lined enclosures where you basically build and enclsorue inside and enclosure, but what about cement enclosrues where the outer enclsoure is ment to be removed and the cement finsihed off liek they finish off cement counter tops? Its reletively cheap to finish cement counter tops, you can make them smooth like glass or retain the cement feel. I dont have any plans to do such a thing but im just wondering if anybody has though about doing this or has already dont this. 1 1/2 80lb bags would probbaly be what yo uwould need for a moderately sized enclsorue plus reed bar and that wire stuff...so all in all your moderately sized enc…

My girlfriend just got a 2010 Elantra and I'm going to setup a 600 - 700 watt system for her with 2 DC Level 2 10s ported. I'm going to either get her the Batcap 800 or Kinetic KHC800.

Do power acoustic amps do rated power?

I live in baton rouge and wanna get metered. There is a shop in Denham Springs that charges $10 per run to get metered. Does anybody own a term lab or some other spl meter and wanna help me get some input on what my system can do? Thanks guys

I have a question, it might sound stupid but i've been wondering about it for a while. its about a damplified trunk versus one that isnt. Of course, when a sub makes a sound (namely bass) in a trunk that isnt so sturdy, or the subs just hit really hard, it makes a rattling. Does the sound (bass) that is emitted from the trunk rattle, actually lost bass? Like the sound is converted into that shitty noise rather than transfering into the cabin, and hearing a more pleasant bass? And if a trunk gets damplified (thats just the wording i use ), the dampening mat does a job of stopping that noise, but does it just do that? What i mean is, it'll stop the rattle, but will the bass…

Help me out. Anyone do a SPL system in a Tiburon? Just trying to get an idea of the box tuning. The box is for a pair of 12" Fusion Powerplants, each one run by a Fusion Lomu amp. ANy help is appreciated.

Has anyone used anything other than the popular Second Skin, Raamat, etc....closed and open cell products with great results. I googled this topic and found several companies proving a wide range of products that have similar claims and prices that vary from the prices on popular car audio products both ways. Just curious. I'm thinking I may try something new.

So I am running whats in my sig and hit a 147.4 @ 36hz so far. My subs get hot pretty quickly and my goal is to hit 150. I'm sure I could get better numbers with another box as mine is for daily driving music but I like that. I was thinking of trying a new box just to see the difference for now but I'm also thinking of going with a single sub setup as space is limited in my little ranger. If I were to go with a single sub, I was thinking of something with more power handling like a BTL N3 in 15" or 18". Either way, I would like daily 150's. I am very open to suggestions and recomendations. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hey all, Ok long story short my buddy came across 2 12" jl audio w6's and the voice coils were blown... he gave them to me thinking i would be able to do somethin with them... 3 months have past and im still sittin on some paper weights...
