Hi to all, I'm new to the forum and I need info about a new enclosure based on two REaudio sx12 subs, I've thinked about a 4cf tuned to 35hz box 'cause I listen to hipop/rap and r&b kind of music. Can the box be built with mdf light or mdf ultra light material?

So. i have been wondering, what is better for bass. An '02 lincoln towncar, or the 89 crown vic. both have trunks the size of a small house, and both guzzle gas. But what would be the better choice? For the sake of argument, both are show off cars, music-wise, and for looks, both would sit on 22" blades (or maybe spokes for the Linc). The intention is a low-end beast. crushing lows. For whichever you choose, list the setup you would think is best for the space available. I am considering one or the other as a 2nd, 3rd, or maybe 4th car after I run in the bug. I would like the lincoln, but my concern is that, I lack the experience in cars to treat it the right way, i'm v…

Hi SSA, 1- I want to know what's a line driver specifically for? 2- Also is it worth having? 3- I've heard that the higher the voltage the better, but I don't really know what is meant by that. Please explain. 4- I have an Audiocontrol Eql concert series, does this have a line driver? My hu is a Jvc KD-R730BT. Thank you.

Ok I have a 2013 ford fusion with ford mytouch. Touchscreen is connected to all the electronics in the car so running an aftermarket HU is out of the question because it will affect everything in the car. I have a 15" sp4 and im planning to run it on a sundown 3500. My question is if i use a line driver (audio control, LOC, etc) to connect my amp to my Factory HU will I lose output or my lows by doing this compared to running an aftermarket HU? I just don't want to run an amp and sub if i can't get its full potiential. Thanks!

So a friend told me about line drivers and i was wondering should i be using one? is the advantage they offer that great? and why would i need one? like if i run a dmm over my rca and they are getting around 1volt should i be using a line driver to help out my rca so i don't have to turn my gains so high? also do i need one for all my rca's (fronts, rears, subs?). also do yo use one? And if you do use one which one do you use? Kenneth

Can a line out converter cause distortion in the system? The reason I ask is because I have some of the ED EHQS 12's and I hooked a 12 up to my brothers system in a 2 cube sealed box on a RF P3001, on 400 watts, and it sounded clean and got pretty loud. But just now I hooked the same sub up to my girlfriend's system also a 2 cube sealed box on Diamond 400.1, @ 2 ohm only 200 watts, and the sub is bottoming out in her setup. My brother has an aftermarket pioneer HU and my girlfriend is running off of a converter and her stock Pioneer HU, she has a Scion TC. Could the sub be bottoming out now because it is off of a stock HU and converter, does that cause a dirty signal?

Congradulations guys, I didn't get to go to the last competition on the coast but heard you did well again. 4 first places and 2 second places with you taking 1st and 2nd in on catergory. Keep up the good work, the stuff really sounds great! From my count that means you have 40 plus trophies this season between all the vehicles. Can't wait to see all the vehicles at finals, if they all sound as good as the couple I have heard you are going to keep blowing everyone away!! Oh and further contrats to Richard, I heard he went to a mid western regionals 3 weeks ago and took first place with 7 vehicles entered in his class and these were not any light weight vehicles, hey were …

I'll get a pic soon, but I got a battery jumper that blew the charging board in it....well I charged it with a normal battery charger and its fine. So I popped off the back and it has a nice "lead acid sealed battery" in it. Obviously this is a high amperage/capacity battery or it would not be able to jump a fly let alone a car. Its maybe 2-3" thick and 6" tall by 8" wide roughly. So, with my monstrous 700.5 amp (lol) I was thinking this would be the perfect cap for it to mount in the trunk. I still have to inspect it for vents not sure if it has any or not....hoping not. Seems like if it did it would trash all the wiring inside the jumper, also has an air compressor in i…

Basically, I'm trying to think of the most cost-effective way to build a shelf that's rock-solid steady for my turntable. I've been floating a lot of ideas around in my head, from "floating" a piece of MDF in a little sandbox-type thing, to several layers of MDF on soft rubber pads, to wacky ones like a suspended magnetic table (most likely not even possible). So...I'm trying to brainstorm, need ideas for a table that's immune to vibration and help to deaden the internal vibration from the unit itself.

I have a 1/24th scale Chevy Express cargo. I had planned on making a miniature SPL vehicle. I could not find a speaker that would fit in the van (would have to be a 2 inch sub). After watching the styrofoam plate speaker video that was posted on SMD, got me thinking... Maybe I could make a custom lil' woofer to fit my application. I watched that video a few times and figured I could improve on his design a bit... So this is what I've come up with. Let me explain this now.. The Blue is the basket. As I won't be able to make a sub style motor, I will do something similar to what he had done in the video. however make it more like a real sub instead a bunch of cutlery an…

So today I had a buddy of mine helping with the BIG 3 in my truck. He accidentally hit the positive termninal of the battery with a grounded ratchet. When I Asked if he had disconnected the power wire for the amps he said no. I checked the inline fuse and the fuses at the distro block.... all was good so I hoped for the best. When we finished up and turned on the truck... nothing. After much testing I have determined the 2 USA-50 to possibly be toast but the USA-200 seems to still be good. So unhooked the amps, hooked up the 200 and still no power. When I test the power wires and grounds at the amp i am getting something like ~3 volts WTF. On a side note one USA-50 seems …

I already have around 60 ft of welding cable in my truck, I just picked up another 30 feet to do another run of positive to the back because I'm about to install dual alts. Would it be better to run 2 neg runs to the front and back batts or just ground at each end?

Well, i was trying to talk to the 'new guy' at my local audio shop. And we started talking about what we had, and i was telling him i was trying to sell my Type X's to get a Fi Q. Supsrisingly he has actually heard of Fi, but he was very closed minded towards them. ANYWAYS, he ended up telling me he had four Type R's 12" in a ported box, in an Impala like mine! So, i went out to get a demo. Pretty loud i guess, but he was trying to tell me he has hit 154db. Considering that his box looked fairly small for 4 12's i doubted it. I guess im just rattled that people like that can get a job but when i apply i dont even get an interview. >.>

I'm looking for someone in the Indianapolis or surrounding area to build a box for me. I keep getting $350-$400 quotes and was thinking I might be able to get one made cheaper/maybe not. I have zero tools so there is no way I could do it. The subs will be 2-15"D4 IA LI to go in a 07 Ford Escape with usable dim. of 40Wx22Dx22H in a ported box tuned between 32-35hz. No need to carpet since I think I'm going to use bedliner. These will be powered by a SAZ-1500D. Thanks in advance

So i went to a local car audio shop probably less than a mile from my house and i finally got to hear a loud car. The guy that owns the shops name is Michael Jones. He also holds a bunch of worlds SPL records and titles. His stats Idk, i thought it was pretty cool that he lives right here in my town (around 100,000 people or less) He also says he has a B&K sound and vibrations sound level meter. Supposedly one of the best ones out there and he said hes 1 of 3 people in united states that has one. Also has a termlab so i will be metering my truck soon =) Edit: Oh yeah the loud car i heard was a nissan pathfinder with 3 15" DD 3500s i believe with 2 strapped DD m1's. I…

I went to a little car showoff / competition yesterday. This was in no way an actual 'organized' competition. Classes were setup as single subwoofer / double subwoofers / Three + subwoofers. After going through all the contestants, they handed out the trophies and prizes. First up was single subwoofer, my class! They call third place, at a 136.9db (I think i got this shit in the bag for 2nd place and my buddy would get 1st place). Then, they call 2nd place.. NOT me 142.1db. Finally they call my buddy for first place at 148.7db. So. I go up to the sheet and check my name.. I got 144.7db! They skipped my name i guess.. Anyways i told the instructor of the competit…
