i got a hdc4 18. basically brand new. i traded my box my buddy built for me. dude said it had a blown coil on it. and when we tested it out was perfectly fine. so i got a steal. i drive a Ford Taurus and the trunk space for a 18 would be my the whole trunk. i just want some opinions on if you guys would sell it. trade it or recone it to a 15.

About a year ago I bought my first subs which were just cheap Duals from Best Buy. I am still using them today, but in a box I built for them. The box was actually made for two 10" FI Q's and I just put the 2 12" Duals in them temporarily, but I never got around to upgrading so the Duals stayed. Now I'm looking at more options, but deciding to go a slightly different route. I figure a decent sub with the right install would sound a ton better than what I have now, so that's what I'm looking for. I don't have an exact budget in mind, but I'm basically looking for the best bang for my buck. I don't want to spend too much by buying a really power hungry sub, along with a lar…

Hi all. I had a friend of mine ask me to do a system for her. She wants to use my 2 Sundown Audio SD1-v.2 subwoofers and my Sundown Audio 100.2 to power them. Her car is a 2009 Ford Fusion, which leads me to my issue. It has Microsoft Sync, and she would like to retain the stock head unit if possible. I know the only way to do this it to use a LOC, but I've never used one, as I always upgrade the HU. I have read that if you use one the factory system will turn down the bass automatically to protect the other speakers, thus making the subwoofers not serve their full purpose. Is this true? Would it be a waste to use a LOC? Am I best off convincing her to spend money…

Of course i know the sound differences in a ported or sealed box, my question is a bit more detailed than that. I'm about to buy a Fi Q 12 and was stuck btwn building a tuned vented/ported box, or sealed. I listen to rock-metal-hardcore-etc. and rap. I know a ported will be perfect for rap but will it hit all the notes nicely for rock songs with quick bass? I've heard that a properly tuned box will hit fine but will it be as accurate as a nice sized sealed box? Thanks alot, much appreciated

just a thought what would you think would be the highest db set up with the lowest amperage draw. Basically the most efficient system with the highest db's I was wondering what was on the other side of the spectrum.

I think I'm hearing tinsel slap on my 15" Dayton Titanic, but I'm not sure. Does it sound like something is scratching on the inside of the cone? If I apply pressure to the cone, it stops making this scratching noise. Thanks! -Trevor

  12. I have a 12inch dcon. It says that 2.25cu.ft. is "optimal" and the smallest you should build it is 1.75cu.ft. Lets say they are both tuned the same. What is the difference in sound, etc? What is lost or gained by making the box that much bigger? Also, I listen to mostly rock with a decent amount of rap music thrown in there. I'm looking for a nice middle ground tuning and a box that can be easily moved if needed. I was considering 2.0cu.ft. tuned to 32hz. Would you suggest something different? Thanks. (also, I know less power usually calls for a bigger box, I'll be running 340rms or slightly over to the sub) Thanks!

So in the future, about spring time, I am going to be upgrading to 2-15" NS in my car powered by 2-SAZ2000 strapped amps. So I will be pushing about 4000rms at 2ohm and now i am looking at which batteries to purchase. Here are the 2 which i found, either 2- XS2700 or 2- kinetik hc2400. My question to you is what would you use? XS or Kinetik? the price for the 2700 and hc2400 are about the same, on ebay and ssa. i am leaning towards the XS myself. but i have LOTS of time to think about it! please feel free to make some suggestions to other batteries but please keep in mind space limitations of 13"x6.7". I will get accurate measurements on Wednesday. Kenneth And please fee…

I've done quite a few installs in the past, but they've always been on older vehicles. I now have a 2008, and I honestly don't trust myself to install an LOC and amp. I contacted two shops that I've done business with in the past, and both quoted me at $65 for the install. Now I need to decide which one to go with. What would be the best way to pick one? I've seen work done by both and they both do a very good job. One of them is a member of the BBB and has an A+ rating. The other is not a member and has one complaint against it in the last 36 months, which was administratively closed (BBB said that the shop made an offer to repair, but the customer did not accept the of…

So I bought an 88 Bronco and like anyone, I went out and found a place to hang out on the net. I found fullsizebronco.com and looked around. Seemed to know a lot about four wheeling but not a lot about car audio so I thought I would start a thread. Check out what some of these a-holes decided to say... http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153043 I know all of you are into car audio, just as I am, and this just pisses me off. AAAAAHHHHH!!!! Peace, Lee

How much 1/0 should I buy for the van? I was thinking about replacing the runs already in the van with new wire, so what 100' power and like 25' ground? Also, how thick speaker wire would you use for roughly 1000w per woofer? I figured 10awg speaker wire should suffice just fine. Although 8awg could happen if needed.

Hello, just looking for some advice on my build ill be working on. Currently have 2 Orion HCCa152 Subs. I have the 2ohm ones at 2,500w RMS each. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good amps that can run 5000 watts at 2ohms THe biggest alt I can get is 270A and ill be buying from either Mechman or Singer. And my second question is, how many batteries should I expect to run with this buiild, and which ones will be best? I have a custom box built for my car. I have a 2010 forester. It'll be tuned to 28hz. Would also like some recommendations on a mid/highs amp.

Ok, I've got another question. I'm just going to copy and paste this from a thread I started at CA. I don't like to post the same question in more than one location at a time but it doesn't look like I'm going to get any kind of response there. The guide in question is here Thank you for any assistance.

I'm an older guy, just turned 40 and have gone through many installs in my earlier years. I've had some good installs by shops and I've had total crap installs. Well I wouldn't say the installs were crap but the bass setup was. I would say the worst problem I have ran into with installs is the box builds were wrong for the speakers of choice. I have always bought quality subs for my installs but often the boxes were build wrong. I've even pissed of installs by telling them to rebuild the box because the bass sucked. That even happened in a Camaro once, where bass should be easy to do. I've also learned that less can mean more too. Subs need plenty of box space. S…

Ok I was at the shop today and decided to do my FIRST hands on experience in box building. I took the old face of my box and decided to switch it out to a dual btl box. Of course I messed up a little bit. What I messed up on was the shops saw went out today on me and I decided to use a jigsaw to cut the bottom of the face (major "f" up) . So my face was a little uneven. So I plan on using bondo and resin to fix it. With the face put on the box spray painted black it is hardly noticeable, but tomorrow will test my first challenge. I will also be bracing the mess out of the box. What port should I use? I am thinking 2 or 3 aero (pvc) ports, but what size aero (pvc) ports a…

So I just moved my XCON into the garage yesterday because I was planning on putting them both in tomorrow. This morning while half asleep I bumped my toolbox and a heavy ratchet fell directly onto the dust cap..... After getting the dust cap off I was surprised to see this. So I'm assuming this means that I can still put them both in tomorrow, and just put the cap on when it arrives? (Thanks to Aaron for taking care of me super fast!)
