so i finally decided the Q isn't quiet enough for me now a days. i need something bigger. so i just have some questions for you guys.. right now i have a 12" Q powered by a SAE 1000D. i am debating whether to get 1 15" or 2 12"s. i'm looking for which ever has the better output. now obviously the best out put would be out of two 12"s. but money is pretty tight, and i don't want to upgrade all my electrical if i don't have too. i was thinking about just getting 1 12" for now, selling my Q, and running 1 12" off my SAE. how will that sound? will ~1200w make the BTL happy? well i had recently bought a new Truck. I got a 09 F150 single cab. Im currently running a sealed Box my cousin made that fits behind my seat im semi limited in space becuse it's a single cab. The box is 4ft long by 12"deep 12" tall to a slant i belive 6" top and the Box is insulated. It's also sealed in the center between the two subs. TO make two different compartments. My cousin had told me it was better to do it that way and i belive one compartment is semi larger then the other He claims " it will make 2 different tones. I am using the following tool to figure out how long my aeros need to be to tune the box. http://psp-inc.com/tools.html It will be a ~5 ft^3 box I want to tune it to ~29 hz I am going to use 6" aeros http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=268-354 I want to use 4 of them, for the look it will give the box. What I'm wondering is after I put all this in the calculator, it tells me I need 69" of length. Is this per aero or all of them combined? I would hope that it would be inches total and not per aero. I recently purchased a btl 18 and a sundown 2000d which i guess puts out around 2500wrms. The problem is instead of going though a bunch of different enlosures to just ask the pros. I was personally thinking of walling off the front from the trunk. car is a 2000 coupe cavalier and theres a sound comp soon and would like some tips so any comments are appreciated. Im kinda a newbie when it comes to larger setups like this.

I still haven't learned a lot about tuning boxes, and normally pay someone to do it or use free box generators. I am likely going to have to build a box with the port extending outside of the box. Is this going to affect tuning? Say i need a 18" deep port in the box. If I just move it out, 14" inside and 4" outside, will this affect tuning?

I'm really new to car audio and i'm going to get a full set up. i need advice on what to get. i want a system for mostly hip hop and rap. I'm on a budget of around $1,600 Max h/u - $550 max speakers - $250 i'll most likely ill get the btl "15 or "12 but i need suggestions on how to order those i'm pretty lost when it comes to amps and i really need help with them i also want to get higher quality speaker wire. any helpful suggestions would really be appreciated

anyway, a little back story, I sold this sub to a friends brother, he brings it back to me and says the sub is blown and figures I could use it. with a little inspection I noticed a few things. the tencil leads were coated in the normal wire cover thingy that some subs use (red and black wires), well, the wires will still pretty much covered, but there are spots that seem to be missing wire cover. and the Positive wire is pulled out of the terminal a little (meaning it needs re-soldered) and this 18 has a dual spider setup right? the top one is glued on a big ring about a quarter to half an inch tall. anyways, the top spider seems to have pulled itself off of the ring pie…

so i've got a 1993 Saturn SC1 that has a busted lock system for the trunk. The trunk itself can open in the front via a lever. BUT, if I am going to put the system I want in this car, I want to make it so the car has to be in accessory mode before the trunk can open (or key in ignition, what ever will start 12V activity via remote) I was thinking attaching a small 12v pull motor to the line that runs to the front, then just setting it up so it can be toggled while the radio is running... I dont even know if this is possible ;o Basically, I want my stuff to be harder to steal. 'cause the trunk alone has been worked on (by me personally!) so the hatch mechanism are MUCH low…

My buddy drives a '00 frontier with a jvc head unit with aux. His 6 3/4" door speakers are blown so they are disconnected and the only speakers he had were the stock tweeters in the door. He got in the truck and no sound was coming from the tweeters. Tried CD player, aux, radio and nothing. Were thinking the tweeters could have taken a dump or the head unit is poop, or maybe a loose connection somewhere? What could this be?

So I moved into my dorms for college today, I figured I should check out the town and look for any audio shops. I found one that used to carry RE products, but now mainly KIcker and Memphis it looks like. Anyway, I looked around the shop and found an RE 12 RE series, and a Coustic 321qe. I managed to get both of them for 230, Both BNIB. Anybody, think I got ripped off or was this a great find? Also, the gain knob of the front channel seems to be stuck, any ways to fix this? hello i need some help i have 2 kicker l7 15in and have 2 us amps md1d one on each sub my problem is now i can hear the words that good i have polk momo 6,5 in the doors and boston 6x9 in the back their on a jl audio 500x5 is there any thing i can do or do i need to ugrade and what would u suggest. hey whats up i have a 94 ford econoline van, i was hit ting 138.3 in it, and i had 3 12" kicker solo barics, with a kicker 1500.1 amp that was ran to 2.6 ohms so i was gettin about 1000 out of it, i just recentyl installed 4 15" solo's and a 2000 watt sundown that will b ran to .5 ohms, with a 13.3 cubic fot box, im also installing a second battery, how much do u think i wil gain

well i went to connect the positive run of wire and as i started disconnecting the battery the alarm kept going off i went ahead and finished disconecting the battery then connected the positive run of wire then as i was reconecting it the battery the alarm started going off again then i tightened it all the way then waited for the alarm to go off then i tried to start the car and only the battery will go on it wont click or anything when i take the key out the alarm beeps what do i do?

I have a couple questions about setting the gain, and the settings I should be using on my head unit. My setup is a IDA-x100 headunit from alpine. (Pre-Amp is 2volts) My subwoofer is an 15" Q, and amp is a SAE-1200 Sundown. On my headunit, I heard that the subwoofer level should be set to full, 15. But I didn't know what to set the base level at, so I just set it to full, 8. Then I tuned it to 36volts using a dmm, (Thats what the tuning instruction sheet that came with the amp said to tune it too) It sounded good, but I feel with that much power, I should be getting it a little louder. So I put the bass to 0 on the headunit, but then I could turn the amps gain up to maxim…

Ive got an ssa xocn 15d2 run off of a sundown saz1500d. It was working fine for about a month and then all of a sudden it stopped playing, I turned my truck on one day and nothing. Then about a few days later it started playing this weird static and soon was working fine again. But as of 3 days ago its not working and playing the static again. Ive replaced the rcs and the headunit and its still not working. I have no idia what to do now any ideas??? Here's a vid of the sound its making .

So. i have been wondering, what is better for bass. An '02 lincoln towncar, or the 89 crown vic. both have trunks the size of a small house, and both guzzle gas. But what would be the better choice? For the sake of argument, both are show off cars, music-wise, and for looks, both would sit on 22" blades (or maybe spokes for the Linc). The intention is a low-end beast. crushing lows. Hey guys! I drive a Ford Expedition and I pretty much made up my mind on my upgrade. Now I have two Diamond Audio d6 components in the front and two d6 coaxials in the rear powered by Diamond Audio d3 500.4 amp, runing 4 guage power and ground wires to the amp. I currently have two Diamond audio d3 15 inch woofers powered by Mmats 2000.1. I want to replace the subs with four Ascendant Audio Havocs and having two Mmats 3500.1 powering them or should I get two 18's instead with one of the Mmats amps powering them. The box is going to be ported tuned at 32hz. I'm more into sq but I also want to feel the bass in my bones when I need to lol. I listen to a wide range of music. …

I was wondering why subwoofers use tinsel leads to carry the current to the voice coil. Wouldn't copper be better because the resistance to electricity flow is lower? What makes the tinsel leads better for that part of the sub.?
