We set the high pass on the hu to 80 hz Turned the eq to natural which is flat i believe amp xover was set to full range amp bass eq was set to 0db I told him to pop a retail cd in and turn it up till he heard distortion or a change in the tone..he found that @ 25 out of 35 which i figured was way too low for th…

So i really am stumped, i dont know how to start my install. I am putting a 15" Fi BTL in my 06 4Runner. For an amp im deciding between an audioque 2200D or an Sundown 1500D, which would be more suited for my car, its battery is 12.8v and the alt puts out a wopping 75. I assume il need to prob get better electrical, i will do the big 3 in 0ga but i dont know if itll help. So basicly i dont know where to start, should i buy subs first or amp or both, Or even wire, i assume i need 0ga any other kinds? So basicly to say the least i have no idea where i should start with this amazing install ha Thanks Sam

  7. I wrote this paper a few years back for a class i had to take in college in order to apply for my masters degree, its been published on a few different websites over the years There are four basic types of power supplies used: Unregulated Linear Regulated Linear Ferroresonant Switch Mode The differences between the four types include constant voltage output, cost efficiency, size, weight, and ripple. I willl explain each type of supply, describe the principle of operation, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. 1. Unregulated Linear Power Supply Unregulated power supplies contain four basic components: a transformer, rectifier, filter capacitor, and a …

  8. So I'm in the process of saving up cash for my new system. I'm almost 17 and working at mcdonalds bringing in about 150-200 a week. But anyways here we go, I only have room for 1 15 or 2 12's yes I considered taking out my backseats and making a 2 18" wall but that's a little drastic. Thought about going with a BTL 15 and putting it on a 3500 (either aq or sundown) But figured for a little more money I could get 2 12" BTLs and put them on 2 2k's (aq2200 or sundown2000) Both would be going in roughly 4 cubes @ 32 hz Is it worth the extra money for 2 12" btls? Only a little more cone area and 1000 more watts.

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla Type S and I was wondering if any of you have the same car and have a system in it or have seen a system in a Corolla Type S? I need some ideas on setups. Right now I have a Batcap 800 in the trunk along with Dynamat in the trunk and under and on top of the rear deck, a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp powering 2 Orion HP 12s sealed in 1.2 cubes each. So far I'm upgrading my amp to a Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D and upgrade my Batcap to a solenoid and a Stinger SP1000 battery. I already have a 70 amp alternator so I don't feel the need to upgrade my electrical system. As for subs I don't know yet. So far I may want a pair of SS RL-p 12s sealed in 1.35 c…

Ok, here is my dilemma. I currently have a ford ranger. Later this year I will be pickin up a chevy silverado (4 door). my wife has given me a choice with the two. I could either do a fiberglass lid on the Silverado and do a blowthrough with, perhaps 3 15" BTL's or a can put a camper shell on the ranger and build a wall with something like 2 18" BTLs. The Silverado will be my daily driver, so I think she is wanting me to do the system in that and makin the ranger for nothing but haulin stuff. I was curious as to what you guys would do. I am in a split decision between the two and am hopin your opinions could help me make a better decision. THANX

My friend was looking at simply buying one of these in order to recieve "more" power to his speakers. He has a 4 channel Polk Audio amp in the back, that is running a 12 bridged off of two channels, and the other 2 channels are hooked onto some random 6x9's he has. The amp is 800 watts x 4 channels at 4 ohms. I told him, that I have a amp he could buy for the sub itself, and use the amp for his front and rear stages. He has a H/O Alt on a 1988 Camaro with a red-top ultima battery. Do you think it would be worth spending about a hundred and twenty dollars to buy this "power brick"? Or to just simply use his 4 channel amp. http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ktp-445 Tha…

i have about 1200 watts on the system and the oem alternator i think is 80 amps. i want to get an extra battery in the trunk. i can either get the kinetik hc800 or the hc1400. i do not know if my stock alternator will be able to handle the battery under the hood and the hc1400. i can buy the 1400 from a friend for about 140 so its a good deal. but im afraid that my alternator will die if i use the hc1400 instead of the hc800. does anyone know if i could go with the hc1400? o and i also have a H/O alternator with 130amps but i dont know if it actually does more than stock at idle so i dont know if the h/o alternator would be any better at powering the extra hc1400. any hel…

So I just filled my box with polyfill and I do all my connections. Then I connect the amp to the box, throw the fuse in, and jump in the car in anticipation of some wonderful sounds. To my disappointment, the music sounds exactly as it did prior to installing the subs. My first guess is that the amp isn't connected properly and is not powering up. Upon inspection the amp is turned on. It's a bit late and I'm too tired to start taking things apart. I'm pretty sure all the wiring is secure. I'm just hoping that the screws I used aren't the problem. I will feel like an idiot they are the problem. Instead of using a those fancy speaker terminals I used some bolts …

I know not a lot of people carpet stuff anymore, I guess I'm stuck in the 80's lol. I've been trying to find brown carpet for the past couple months to no avail. I can find black and gray all day long. Have come across a couple pieces of tan. I suppose worst case I can get some tan and tone it with some tint, just would rather not if I can help it. Thought maybe you guys could point me in the right direction. Here is what I need (the lower half). Thanks!

My alt arrived today and it's installed! Now I need to upgrade my wires, I am stuck on KnuKoncepts but am interested in Stingers 3/0. In the long run Stinger 3/0 is actually less than 3*1 of the KK for obvious reasons, and KK doesn't offer any 3/0. I hear that the Kolossus cable is almost 2/0. I plan to get 2 more 250 alts, so am thinking about the multiple run issue. I am now stuck on deciding if I want to go with Kolossus Flex or KLM. KLM is smaller, but it's a bit cheaper when purchasing the amp kit, and they don't offer any amp kits with Kolossus. What would everyone else do? Go for the Stinger 3/0, multiple runs of the Kolossus Flex, or multiple runs of th…

I had this posted in the Fi forums, but I stopped getting replies so I figured I'd post out here. I bought an Fi Q12 and a Cadence TXA1000D around the new year. I got it all installed about 1.5 weeks into January. Everything was playing great for a while, sounded awesome. Well last week I was out driving around and my sub started to cut out. It would play some notes and then it would stop. A few seconds later it would start back up, play a few, and then stop. The next day I started playing it again and it sounded fine for about five minutes and it started to do the same stuff. Now, it wont hit anything. Every once in a while it will hit, out of no where, just ran…
