So I am going to do the big 3 on my 2001 Jetta. I am going to be using 4awg. When you guys upgrade the alt. to the battery positive is it a straight run, from alt. to battery? I dont know much about cars but my cousin said the the wire goes from the alt. to the starter than to the battery, is it like this with all cars?

I just won my 1st SPL challenge in own place..they got 2 diffrents category that is (internal & External) during the the internal way I hit 133.6DB and 127.7DB for the external...I'm using the 1.4CF for my enclosure...can somebody help me with the box enclosure so I can reach higher DB for both category? coz I'm ready to take on any battle aft…

Sup guys! I was wondering/ asking myself.. On birtsheets from Rockford Fosgate or Kicker, etc amps, why do diferent wattage ratings come up on birthseets? If a zx2500.1 is built the same as the next zx2500.1 built why would one say I.E 2,753 vs the second amp that says 2,945? If they both consist of the same parts and what not, why would power variate instead of being similar? Thanks for the input

hey nice place! i have slowly been putting money back into my car with pretty solid results. i was wondering what advice or comments you have for the next step. i took some time away from car audio and got the home system going. My home system took the cake and i just had to upgrade the car. i drive a 97 4 door grand am with no tint. alpine 9827 - upgraded the 4x6 in the front doors with polk momo 5 1/4. i upgraded my mono -mrv100 alpine amp with a 5 channel alpine-353. for $115 new. i have a pair of infinity refrence 6x9's in the back that have been used for 6 years. they need to go and i was looking at ebay for some momo's. and my sub is one of the older polk d…

  11. Custom Cherryman box, 1.6 ft3, tuned at 34, wired at 1ohm I'm deciding between a new IA10.1 for $390 or a gently used SAZ 1500D V3 for $360. I know the SAZ is under rated but I cand find any bench test results on the IA10.1. Im imagine the 300 RMS between the two amps cannot be heard by the human ear. Would there be any difference in SQ between the 2 amps?

My alt arrived today and it's installed! Now I need to upgrade my wires, I am stuck on KnuKoncepts but am interested in Stingers 3/0. In the long run Stinger 3/0 is actually less than 3*1 of the KK for obvious reasons, and KK doesn't offer any 3/0. I hear that the Kolossus cable is almost 2/0. I plan to get 2 more 250 alts, so am thinking about the multiple run issue. I am now stuck on deciding if I want to go with Kolossus Flex or KLM. KLM is smaller, but it's a bit cheaper when purchasing the amp kit, and they don't offer any amp kits with Kolossus. What would everyone else do? Go for the Stinger 3/0, multiple runs of the Kolossus Flex, or multiple runs of th…

So looking into amps to power my speakers and tweeters but Im wondering if the high/low pass filters vs the frequency response of the amp actually affects the speakers and tweeters. Since the High pass is only 50-200Hz does this affect anything. Example Im looking into the 2010 Kicker zx350.4 Variable high-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 12 dB/octave) Variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 12 dB/octave) Frequency response: 20-20000 Hz Speakers: MB Quart DKG 168 (DKG168 Tweeter: MB Quart PTK 40 (PTK40

I have a set com Rainbow SLC-265 components and a 15" arsenal. Will these sound balanced in my new '96 jeep Cherokee? I'm worried the sub will be over bearing. Should I just keep the sub lower or get a smaller sub? As long as the components can keep up with the sub that is all I'm worried about. I hate it when I get in someones car and all they upgraded was the sub, and coincidentally that is all I can hear. The sub. boom boom boom thud. How musical......

I am looking into purchasing a 15" DC level 4 XL or AA Mayhem. If I choose the DC, I have two wiring options. I have a 2400 watt amp at 1 ohm and 1700 at 2 ohms. How much difference does wiring a sub at 2 ohms make vs wiring it at 1 ohm? Would 1700 watts at 2 ohms be enough to get the DC going or should I just stick to 1 ohm?

So I just bought a matching RE XXX 04-05 motor and I want to either do (2) 12"s or (2) 10"s. I have space in the trunk to provide both enclosures, but a 12" build would suck up every bit of trunk space and I'm afraid of having to built the box in the trunk. I really don't want to do this..My car has 165k on it, and I don't want to have to get a new rear suspension, or struggle with fitting the box through my trunk opening. I suppose I could turn the box and slip it in through the back seat, but sealing off and port forward, subs forwards, and trunk wall are all new to me. I was thinking of doing (2) 10" in about 5 cubes and port back subs back. Slamm…

Well I had my first spl reading ever and was fairly happy. My system consists of 4 RE8's in a sealed enclosure that is way to small approximately 1.9 cubic ft total with an OLD RF 800.2. This set up is in my 95 impala ss. Well for my first system I was happy with my 131.8. I have a pic but I am a retard when it comes to posting pics. I was kind of wondering if I was pretty much on par for this setup or am I off a little.

I'm thinking about upgrading the "factory stereo" in the '05 E-150 next month as a gift...because what's in there now is laughable. The standard Ford AM/FM radio, not even a tape deck. This is the main delivery truck, so everything needs to be mounted under the seats/hidden. Here's what I've come up with so far... Source: Alpine CDE-9842, $130 new from Crotchfield. Maybe an extra dash kit if they don't provide one, it's a standard 1.5DIN opening. Speakers: Crystal CXE570 5x7 coaxials (http://mmxpress.com/crystal/crystal_speakers.htm) Amplifier: Damn PE for selling out of the Aura amps I'd need a decent two-channel, 50Wx2 into 4 ohms should be plenty. Something along the …

actual technical question follows ---> Basically as the title says...I've decided on an 5.25" or 6.5" MTM design that works for my app, but I've got a choice of ribbon or regular tweets. The ribbon kit is double the price of the normal one at $550...I've never owned a speaker using ribbon tweets, so I don't know if they'd be worth the price increase. FYI, the speakers I'm looking at can be found at http://www.parkeraudio.net. 95dB/W or 98dB/W at a stable 2 ohm load. Thanks. :musik05:
