HU - kenwood kdc-hd942u Comps - phoenix gold rsds Amp - mb quart dsc 280 Pic of the amp My friend just got this stuff installed @ a shop and isn't satisfied. He told me it sounds alot cleaner but it's not louder than his stock paper cone speakers were. I told him that more than likely the shop didn't set the gain and i was gonna run through it setting it by ear. We set the high pass on the hu to 80 hz Turned the eq to natural which is flat i believe amp xover was set to full range amp bass eq was set to 0db I told him to pop a retail cd in and turn it up till he heard distortion or a change in the tone..he found that @ 25 out of 35 which i figured was way too low for th…

Okay so I have two D1 XCONs that were both purchased used. One of them reads .07-.08 on both coils, and the other reads 1.0-1.1 on both coils. Both subs sound fine when they are used alone, but once I wire them together it sounds way quieter, and seems like one is canceling the other out. Could this be because they are getting different amounts of power? I've been troubleshooting and am really getting frustrated. I've triple checked the wiring, I've swapped RCAs, amps, and HU pre outs. I finally decided to wire one in my 4.5 cube shared chamber enclosure to 2 ohms and bam the difference was night and day louder. I switched to the other sub and it was just as loud. Wire th…

  6. I was just curious about this. I heard about it but I didn't know how you could find the mechanical limit of a woofer.

Hey so I see a lot of people saying "my car peaks at 54 hertz" and I'm just wondering how exactly you find your peak frequency for your specific application. Is it something that needs to be measured using some kind of tool or can it be done by ear or some other method. Also assuming my peak frequency was 48 would you expect to find the frequencies surrounding that range playing audibly louder? If they do play louder how do you combat such a hump as to improve your SQ? My peak frequency is not something I absolutely need to know but it'd be cool to find out right and it might help in making some changes to my system.

Excessive Amperage, I cannot get ahold of... & Dom Iraggi I have not heard a ton of good things about. Do you have any other suggestions? Would Powermaster Alts be a good place to look? I was gonna post this in the off topic section, but it's slightly audio related, and i just wanted to ask because it seems ridiculous. The RF 40001bd amp is supposed to be 4k rms at 1ohm, pretty sexy, whatever. If i recall it has ONE set of 1/0ga power and ground terminals. With a fuse rating of 500amps, and knowing that 1/0ga wire has a capacity of ~300amps doesn't that mean they failed? Off the top of my head, the Sundown 4500D has dual power and ground, and for what seems like a good reason. The only solution to this problem i see is to have your amp ridiculously close to your rear battery bank. Just me rambling on, thanks for comments.

Ok... so when I started this build, it was on a budget and kinda rushed along. My hearing isn't that great anymore after years of drumming in a metal band, so I didn't want to go too far. My current setup is powered by a Kenwood amp pushing 40x4 and 300x1 at 4ohm. I really love it....but since installing these 2 Dcons, my front stage just ain't hangin. Let me say.... I can't imagine some of these setups u guys have. These 2 Dcons are bangin on only 300. Plenty for me, with my hearing loss and all. I'm running Polk db651's front and rear, with Kicker 4" in the dash off the head unit. Think going the bridged route at 100x2 would be better, and lose the rears...since they ba…

Hi guyz, Would like to know other websites such as www.audiojunkies.com or www.enjoythemusic.com/news/ to keep up with the news. I am more interested in car audio news. I also what to know more about overseas news such as other car audio companies (Brax, Ground Zero, HSS Fidelity, etc...), not many might know that Helix (Brax sistership company) have new amplifiers (hybrid tube and SPL), subwoofers (thin line and SPL), and speakers.

Hi all. I had a friend of mine ask me to do a system for her. She wants to use my 2 Sundown Audio SD1-v.2 subwoofers and my Sundown Audio 100.2 to power them. Her car is a 2009 Ford Fusion, which leads me to my issue. It has Microsoft Sync, and she would like to retain the stock head unit if possible. I know the only way to do this it to use a LOC, but I've never used one, as I always upgrade the HU. I have read that if you use one the factory system will turn down the bass automatically to protect the other speakers, thus making the subwoofers not serve their full purpose. Is this true? Would it be a waste to use a LOC? Am I best off convincing her to spend money…

i've become quite bored with the people in NC as almost everyone here is stuck on Alpine and JL and no one offers any good company. I am at wits end with people where i work who think Zapco is a Walmart brand and that the Kicker Comp Vrs are a good sub to get. No offense to the company as a whole, but i'm on to better things than those play toys. So where are the NC members? I need people who are into the same companies and same wants in car audio, SQ and good amt of SPL and don't try and tell me a Sony P5 is the key for my setup. Also as a side note, I need people who are also very good tech wise and good on reviews. I am starting my own online company and looking …

Got a question about running power cables thru my 2011 Chevy Tahoe I have seen people run their cables either thru the firewall or under the truck using flexible conduit. Which is preferable? Or is that depending on the amount of runs you are doing. I am planning on 2 runs of both positive and negative from a D3400 under the hood to a D3100 in the rear running a Crescendo BC5500D for 2 ZCON 15’s. If it is just a matter of preference then my question is answered, but if there are other issues to consider then any input would be greatly appreciated. I won’t start my build for about another month or so (in Afghanistan) so I have just been pouring over the net and this forum …

well the show today was pretty good. Had quite a bit of SPL cars there. They had SQ cars for all classes, but only one per class so they all took 1st place. They only had one Extreme SPL car that i do have pics of and it hit i believe a 171 db. Its the Treo Car. I was running my Icon 15 in the new 4 cu ft box tuned to 40 hz with my SoundStream PCA 2000d on it wired at 1 ohm. I was actually surprised i placed 3rd in my class out of 10 competetors. the finals pics are of me, the trophy, and the paper with the ratings on it. My highest was a 143.9 db, but then again the Icon is LSQ and the testings on a good SPL box are still up in the air. Hope you guys enjoy. 1…

  24. It's been said many times that it's not as useful to add more power, as to have a more efficient enclosure, or that a single woofer in a correctly designed enclosure is generally better off than two or more in less than adequate boxes; I took some measurements of my truck, and it looks like I have plenty of room for a pair of 18's. But will the difference between one and two woofers be worth the extra costs? I'm looking to get loud, and sound fairly good doing it, however I cannot afford high power woofers, especially until I can get larger alt in. My budget for woofers is <$400 each, but I have to determine what i'll be getting before I can make a choice for an amp. I…
