I wrote this paper a few years back for a class i had to take in college in order to apply for my masters degree, its been published on a few different websites over the years There are four basic types of power supplies used: Unregulated Linear Regulated Linear Ferroresonant Switch Mode The differences between the four types include constant voltage output, cost efficiency, size, weight, and ripple. I willl explain each type of supply, describe the principle of operation, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. 1. Unregulated Linear Power Supply Unregulated power supplies contain four basic components: a transformer, rectifier, filter capacitor, and a …

System I am planning to power. Sundown SAZ-1500D Sundown SAX-100.4D I have a 08 Hyundai Elantra and unfortunately I am hard time finding a reliable high output alternator. My vehicle has a factory 90 amp alternator. I am contacting Mr.Alternator to see what my options are. Any suggestions? I am thinking about using a Kinetik HC 1400 as the primary battery and a Kinetik HC 600 in the trunk near the amps. What size battery isolator should I use? Where should I put the battery isolator? What gauge wire should I use between batteries and isolator? BTW I plan on using all Stinger power wires, connectors and battery isolator. Thanks

I was just wondering what people listen to, to achieve deep bass.... Not just test tones and sweeps. Like songs..... I have been listening to Lil Whytes new Cd. There are a couple songs on there that hit extremely hard. ~MadroX

Well, my bro came home tonight and his car was broken into at school. they tore the lock out of his door, damaging the paint job he just spent $3K on, and all they got was a $100 Pioneer CD player. When will it end?! Never. Good thing is, there's an even better HU in it's place right now. How you like that Bi*ches! Can't keep a man from his tunes.

So, this is about the only event that I know of even remotely close enough for me to drive to. I will be there (hopefully my Bronco will be done) along with my brother and possibly more people we know around here (Seminole). Hoping this will be a good time and we will be able to demo. I called but got no information whatsoever, I just emailed them to find out some info. I will post up anything I find out. Has anyone else been to one of these events?

i was kinda surprised today when i was cruisin after work and i decided to play "bass i love you" and on the really really low note it flexed the crap out of my window so when i got home i stood outside the door and i did a little bit of a hairtrick on myself and i dont have very long hair so it wasnt awesome and it wasnt a massive hairtrick but for a single 15 i thought it was sweet! ive got it in a prefab box right now(bad i know) and its on a kicker 1000.1 ( not proud to admit that) and its probably not even getting 1000 watts right now ( clean power anyways) and it did a little hairtrick! have to try it on my girlfriend! its in an 06 chevy colorado crew cab by the way…

Just wondering if you guys knew from experience of how you guys find out these things. Its the 7 speaker JBL premium system. Subwoofer mounted in rear deck IB, mids in doors, and two tweeters up front. Just looking where to find info on replacing these or anything like that. I've heard that the subwoofer craps out pretty easily and so I've just been looking for a way to replace it if need be with an aftermarket!

hi, i was just wandering if anyone had any suggestions on what i could do? i used to think i was into sq but over time i think i just like loud. i've had several systems over the years (all installed by me) and i have honestly never been satisfied with any. mids and highs i dont really care about for now, i just want bass so loud i can't stand it. i've seen vids on hair tricks and i think maybe that's what i need. i don't have an spl meter to know what i'm hitting now. mine tops at 130db, i hit that at about half volume. currently i'm running: 2001 hyundai accent factory tape deck with ipod iraggi dominator 200a 0ga everywhere kinetic 1400 memphis mojo 4kw 2- re sx 18d4's…

From XM to Sirius I got stuck with XM because of my Pioneer deck, and when Pioneer released the Sirius tuner I bought it up quick. And I'm so glad I did, Sirius sounds 100x better then XM. Their programming is much more "mature" in my opinion. XM has been deleting channels to make way for MLB channels. They took off my favorite channel and that just topped it off for me. There is much more I could rant on and on about XM, but I'm glad I have Sirius now. Also the Sirius tuner is 1/2 the size of the XM tuner. But was also a little harder to install. Channel 27

so i just installed my new sundown 100.4 amp and i have a terrible distortion problem even at a barely audible level. ive double checked all the wiring for proper polarity and checked that i have a good ground connection too. ive also tried speakers which i know are good as well as inputs that i know are good. the only inconsistency ive found is the the remote from my deck puts out 11.3v and the book that came with my amp is asking for 13.8v would this cause the distortion or is there something wrong with the amplifier. thanks for the input

QUESTION: When an "Alternator Manufacturer" gives you an "Output at Idle" number - What do you want to hear? Most people just want to hear a high number and they're happy from that point on out.... Until they have 12.4 volts at a stoplight and 14.8 when they drive... Do you think they have been “deceived” lied to? The industry standard for an "Idle output" test is 2400 ROTOR rpm. That's approximately 800 engine rpm if you have a 3:1 pulley ratio. It’s been that way for years...& as far as today that number should really be 2000 Rotor RPM instead of 2400 because crank pulleys have got way smaller on most vehicles which makes the "Outpu…

I am wondering if any one knows any company that sponsors people running car audio and doing competitions. I am currently running a sundown x12 rev 1 1250 rms d2 in a custom built box tuned to 32.5 Hz. Powering the sundown is a cadence ia9-hc 2000 Watt rms amp. Thats just the bass right now. Other upgrades are there just don't want to go on and on unless someone is interested.

I am in the process of buying a 2002 Camaro SS (monday it should be mine). I sold my old system except for my Planet Audio TT2250D and my Pioneer DEH-P860MP. I am getting a Planet Audio TT4200D, 2004 XXX 15", and a set of Rainbow Pro 3 Way components. For sound deadening, I have 3 gallons of Second Skin Spectrum. Jamie will be doing the Kicks for the Pro 4"s and tweeters, and the Vanadium 6.5" midbass will be mounted in the doors. He will also be doing the trunk install in all fiberglass. The trunk install won't be done for a little while so I will just make a temporary sealed box for the time being. I was wondering if I should get some Audiocontrol EQ gear to get i…

im thinking about buying a new alt. i talk to a guy at the chevy dealership and he said that a 160 amp alt would be plenty to run 2 batts and draw of around 240 amps on 1 of the batteries. im wondering that if i get a 160 would it be good and how long it would last. its about 50 bucks cheaper than the 200 amp one. kinda on a budget.

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=11261 here is the OP from this link. I posted it in the Fi section but there is more traffic here so I reposted. I'm a couple days away from buying two SS XXX 15s. I intend to run two Autotek MM4000.1Ds to them in about 8 cubes at 30 Hz. This is in the back of an 04 TrailBlazer subs up port back. While I am certain this will get loud I am finding myself leaning towards the fully loaded BTL 15s. The Autoteks would be too much power for the BTLs but let's say you had the option. The SS XXX setup with the Autoteks which, at 3 ohms, would give each sub around 3000 watts, or two Fi BTL 15s in the same box in the same vehi…
