  1. So I'm good at building enclosures.....calculating ported enclosures? Not so much. I've just bought a new tow vehicle and using some budget equipment to put a nice setup in it. These are new items I've had laying around to put into a project car I'm building that won't be finished for a while. Vehicle : 2004 Escalade ESV (Suburban sized one) Location in the vehicle: Rear hatch, against the 3rd row. Want to keep some cargo room Space available (Length x Width x Height): 46" wide is set. 16" deep is set. The height is my variable. 20" is maximum. All dimensions are internal. Subwoofer make and model: Subwoofers are JBL GTO 4 ohm models Subwoofer Size: 12" …

Single Q12 going in 2005 jimmy and was wondering if I should just go with the cut sheets found here http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/44520-q-series-cut-sheets/#entry701997 or should I get someone to design one? wondering if this would be optimal for good SQ over SPL. Should I place enclosure against front seats facing sub backwards, upwards, towards front or behind back seats facing up or backwards ?? Looking for SQ quick response over SPL. Wanting ported for better power usage and also heard ported can sound just as good as sealed so went that way and got without high QTS. Anyone have experience with single 12 in SUV ? Anyone maybe be able to design an encl…

alright. ive got the dimensions. i have 2 options of building this. its kind of going to be trial and error until i find the right height i want the desk to be, but here it goes. the box needs to be 4.5 cubes each (2 seperate boxes) and tuning...im guessing like 20ish or 24hz or something? 95% of the time its for rap music. once in a blue moon i may watch a movie on it. but for the most part, i want it to sound best on rap music. the dimensions im working with are 39" x 37" (width and length) using those 2 dimensions, i need to see how high it will be to make 4.5 cubes after determining the tuning and port length, etc. if i like the height, ill build the box using that wi…

Unfortunately due to some extenuating circumstances this year's event has been POSTPONED!!!!!! The Clayton Chamber of Commerce has postponed this year's Clayton Classic Car Show. Since the show is put on in conjunction with the Classic Car Show, we have to postpone the Clayton Car Stereo Show. We will be in close talks with the Clayton Chamber of Commerce and see when they will decide on a new date for the Classic Car Show, when we get a new date for the show I let everyone know and we will try to have it then.

Well, as some may know (from my thread in the subwoofer/speaker forum) I have an RE Audio seX 15D4 coming my way. So, I am in need of building an enclosure for it. So, this will be going in the back of a Chev S-10, and will be powered by a JBL 601.1 amp (receiving ~600 watts RMS) This will not be for competitions of any kind, however I do enjoy listening to music, as such I want something that has the ability to sound decent and yet still get fairly loud for just general driving around use. So, for dimensions, I can go up to 40.5" wide by 18" high by 14" deep (outside measures). I am looking to do a ported enclosure. Not decided on whether I should go slot port or roun…

Just starting my build but I need to know about the box. Ive seen sub up port back sub forward port forward, sub up port up. I assume any combo will work but I want to verify. I want to do sub forward port up. IT would be the same as port forward but the port opening would be up instead of forward. So I guess it would sort of be like an L. Thats the best way I can explain. I need the port firing where the rear deck would be and the sub facing forward. The back of the back seat is being removed and replaced with the box. The sub will face forward in the middle, and on both sides the MDF will be foamed and clothed so two (though small) people can fit in the back seat! I don…

Double post.. sorry Hello all . Im in beginning stages of design for my 2002 PT Cruiser Enclosure. This will be my first year competing in the lanes for SPL. I know its correct to have a daily box and a burp box, but I would like to get as close of a mix in one box as possible. My initial thoughts would be to have subs facing up and slot port facing up as well because of the lack of room. So far I am just looking for any advice I can get. Max Dimensions: 39w x 20h x 14d. Would prefer port in between subs but If it doesnt make a difference, im flexible. Am I on the right track? Any help would be appreciated.

  15. I did some noob calculations and would appreciate someone varifying what I have done. I would like to do this build one shot. Here is what I have done so far. Skip this if it doesn't help. The box I have now, 40" L x 16" W x 16" H. Internal volume considering 3/4"MDF, I got 4.68cf - port dispacement (4.75 x 14.4 x 30) or 1.31cf = 3.37 - driver displacement of (.16 x 2) or .32 = 3.05 or 1.52cf/driver. I did two alternate box calculations of which I am interested in one. It is as follows: 40" W x 20" W x 16" H. Internal volume considering 3/4"MDF, I got 5.97cf - port displacement (4.75" x 14.4" x 17.28") or .68cf = 5.29cf - driver displacement (.32) = 4.97cf or 2.48cf/driv…

So I just bought a single Nightshade 15 for the trunk of my 2007 300C. I'm just gonna figure out what works best for the box so as to not block my spare. I was considering porting a box towards the back seats, with the sub inverted on the back of the box (so you can see it when you open the trunk). Any problems doing this? Having the sub inverted would let me fit the box more tightly towards the seats in my opinion, but I'm new to box building. Thanks for any help

  19. I just got done discussing with someone what i am doin with my wall in the car and have found a solution, a very cheap solution. I need to have my wall flared on the inside and outside to try and achieve higher pressure levels. My port area is 16.5" wide x 11.25" tall. Look at the bottom pic to see what a Bellmouth port looks like- for my application - There is a guy around town that can make me ANY custom size, flare, etc for my wall so i told him to hold off for a couple weeks while i test other things before i venture in flare port testing. I have some questions though so i can get him to make the proper size. The outside flare can stick out of the box a MAXIMUM of 5…

If I can get enough interest I will be doing an IASCA judge training April 11th and 12th in Santa Rosa. I need to get judges up there before I can have a good amount of shows. If any of you are interested in attending a judge training in Santa Rosa please email me at [email protected]. The training is $100 for both days. It includes a full year of membership in IASCA (which is normally $60). Even if you just want to compete the judge training is a great way to get a full understanding of the IASCA rules. When you consider that you get the membership it boils down to $40 for 2 days of SQ instruction. Schedule is: April 11th 9am-5pm -IASCA philosophy -IASCA classes and …

Are 45*s needed with in boxes that use PVC tubing as ports? Also I designed my box using Win ISD and was told to make the box roughly 2.0 @36hz and use 10" of 4" pvc. Now does WIN ISD take in to account for the space taken up by the PVC or do I have to make the box larger?

  25. Hey everyone, I have a dilemna. I want to throw a nice pair of 12s (or 15s if I could) in the back of my trailblazer, but I want to save space. I have 2 young boys and I need to haul a lot of stuff sometimes (golf clubs, snowboards, etc). I have a Sundown 2000 that should be delivered in 2 days, so I want to work around it. Quentin from Audibel is going to be building the box for me, thus I'm pretty much looking at SSA or IA subs. I'd love a pair of 15" Xcons, but you do what you gotta do. I figure I have a few options. Either a box up against the back seat(rear-firing?), or a false floor(firing up). I'm open to suggestions. For the box against the back seat I was leani…
