instead of continuing to hijack ryan's pic thread, i figured i'd start this up in here.... my opinion, based on talking to a few world champs and experience.. bracing is overrated. as is double baffles. they should only be used of the sub is extremely heavy, u have a really long, flat straight stretch or u are using vast amounts of power. for everyday box building, the box isn't going to flex enough for anyone to hear, see or notice a loss from. in most cases, if designed properly, the port can act as the bracing. for the most part, the best thing u can do for ur ported box is round off all port angles, but even then, for everyday use, it isn't necessary. to gain tenths o…

Well thaks to McVay in Oswego we finally have some "local" shows scheduled for the 2005 competition season for IASCA. The first show is on March 27th, with one show a month all the way up to the month of October. I don't know about the rest of you guys but since I was unable to accrue enough points towards Finals last season, I just can't wait to get back into the lanes this season. For a list of the IASCA Events just click IASCA Event Calender

So, I need to find a small, color, wide angle camera to mount in the mustang. looking out the rear window. Prolly mounted to the headliner looking through the hatch glass.... maybe in the hatch keyhole. Inversly, I'd also need to find a cheap LCD monitor to glass into the dash. not so big. 4-7". I need some kind of rearview mirror... a wall will tend to prohibit that. any advice? Google has yielded me alot of $500+ rearview systems for RV's & delivery trucks that are quite big & bulky. Thanks -Nick

So the Mag that is coming is going to need a worthy home in April's alero. I'm thinking: Shooting for 1.75ft^3, ported to 32hz with 18in^2 of port. Only going to feed her ~600rms @ 4ohm (Lanzar Vibe). Woofer in the rear corner, port running fwd and venting into the center, amp (the white thingy) frenched into the glass 'in front of' the port. Coo? -Nick

In short order: I've layed out so many ideas for the cargo area of my truck that i've gone cross-eyed. The trailblazer's been a test platform since I got her last year. It's about GD time that I finalize something for her. Afterall, it's my daily driven - 400 mile a week vehicle. '02 Trailblazer LS; no third row seats; no ext version. I need to actually be able to utilize the U portion in SUV. So: a.) build an enclosure / rack along one side b.) make a wdith-wise enclosure that is easy to remove I've gotten to the point where I think it's easier to visualize designs in trunk cars simply because you have objects to work with / around. This stationwagon though, is kicking…

POLYURETHANE FOAM the reason im writeing about foam when im talking about fiberglass, is that you can make mold's out of thing's. just fiberglass over it then get some acetone and it will eat the foam and keep your fiberglass mold. they have 2pt. polyurethane foam that is equal mixing self-rising foam. most 2pt. will start foaming around 45 second's after you mix the two, and will go for a few minute's after. now it will expand around 25-30 time's it's liquid form. unlike polyester foam, polyurethane foam it's compatible wth both polyester resin and epoxy resin. (which mean's you can paint the resin on and it wont evaparate) now they have polyurethane foam sheet's allread…

Okay I am stuck in VA on Fort A.P. Hill right now and can;t make a new box so thats out for now. My 2 boxes are built for DD9512's and are tuned to 47hz. I want better impact from them. They are facing the back hatch with the ports next to them so it looks like one big ass box with a split port in the middle (if you can follow this). Anyways this is in the back of a 99 Ford Explorer XLT. No sound deadoner yet. Tryign to get more impact in my back. Thinking maybe slide them closer to the gate???? J

The Effects of Cabin Gain in Car Audio Have you ever wondered why car audio systems can have so much bass as compared to a home stereo system? The reason has to do with space. Your home has a lot of it and your car audio system doesn't. Because there is so little space in a car the bass notes (which are long waves) build up inside the passenger area. To calculate the length of a sound wave you divide the speed of sound (in feet per second) by the frequency. At sea level, the speed of sound is approximately 1,127 ft/sec. For example, a 40 Hz note has a wavelength of approximately 28 ft (at sea level). (speed of sound)/(frequency) = wavelength OR (1,127 ft/sec)/(40Hz) = 28.…
