I'm kinda interested in doing a T-line or horn or ABC enclosure, just want to do something different, or at least see if it will work. I read a couple of articles on T-line design, but I don't really want to do that much math. I'm just looking for some general design guidelines/ what to expect in terms of results for those types of enclosures, which is probably a lot to ask, since there is a lot that goes into the design and fine-tuning of those enclosures. For example, if i wanted to do a T-line for a 10" woofer, how large of a "pipe" would I need? How much do I need to offset the driver from the end of the pipe? stuff like that...

I am just dreaming here. I plan to upgrade my substage, but due to a lack of cash, this probably wont be for another year or so. im just kinda tossin around ideas. I want to have a system that is "Clean n Loud", not geared specifically towards SQ or SPL. I listen mainly to rock, metal, but on occasion rap and R&B (so basically everything). I have a decent sized trunk but the entrence to said trunk is very small, hindering what can fit into it..... So far i am thinking of three ideas that would fit. The first would be to run 2 10" SSD's in a ported box, tuned to ~30 hz, the second would be to run 2 12" SSD's in a sealed box. Any recomendations on these two? Like i sa…

Am trying to calculate the exact cu.ft for a wedge enclosure. I tried a few different sites and got anywhere from 5.8 - 6.0 cu.ft. Since I needed the exact size I worked it out by hand myself. Here are my dimensions and what i got. Can anyone double check this for me please? Wedge Design Outside Dimensions Height = 22" Depth 1 = 10" Depth 2 = 20" Width = 39" Formulas used: Rectangle L X W X D Triangle 0.5 (B X H X W) Since the design is basicly a rectangle and a triangle combination, thats how i calculated it. I got 4.12 cu.ft for the rectangle and 2.06 cu.ft for the triangle with a gross volume of 6.18 cu.ft. I also took into account that the 1.5"…

So would someone who has mastered this process please help this newbe who just wants to have some good sounds to go along with these badass subs, Or even beter someone who has a solara and a simular setup. Ok, so I float around a few different forums and everyone has something different on the subject. Could someone please explain port loading? Why would you want have the sub in different locations in relation to the port? (close, far, centered on the face, etc) For example lets say for arguments sake; lets just have the port and sub on the same plain on the box for this discussion. I'm always trying to learn things to help me make louder, better boxes for my customers. I figure understanding this phenomena will help. Thanks in advance

I just received a phone call from Matt Borgardt at ID. Due to the fact that he is seriously ill, we will be unable to have the IASCA event on Jan 24th. The event will be rescheduled for some time in April. The next IASCA show will be February 15th at Beach Autosound in Huntington Beach, Ca. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any of you. Please try to spread the word so we don't have people driving in from out of town to show up at an empty parking lot. -Todd Woodworth

So I decided to pick up another Sa10 so I can wire down to one ohm. Now I just need to figure out how to fit these in my Infiniti I30. I've always done sub back, port back but can't with the four tens. I'm thinking about doing port and subs up, I've also thought about subs up port through the armrest. I'm capable of designing and building the box, just wanted to know if anyone had any advice about the layout. Thanks -Rick

The title says it all. How much space should I have between my port and rear wall? My port will have a 9,5" x 20.5" surface area, the enclosure is 20 cu.ft., I will be using two Fi Q 18" powered by a Hifonics XX Colossus II amplifier that will deliver about 3000W rms. The reason I ask is that I don't have enough room for the tuning I want, so I want to make it as close to the intended tuning as possible. I was thinking that 8" will be enough if I make the end flared and the wall "pointy" to reduce turbulence. Would this be enough? Picture of how I was thinking about making the enclosure:

So i am building a new box as of this moment i have 2.5 net volume without any sub displacement or any thing. The driver is 1 RE SE12 . My desired tuning frequency is around 32-34 hz. I want to know what the port diameter and length i have tried some calculators but they are to long for the enclosure.

I ordered my First 18in. btl on tuesday and i am ordering my second on friday. In anticipation I got to playing around with some designs. I am going with a wall build in my trailblazer and i got the front template all cut out perfectly today and threw it into sketchup. Double baffled 3/4in. mdf on the front and double baffle all around for the actual enclosure also " even though it is not shown in sketchup" After sub displacement it sits at 21.07cf. and no i am not counting the sub braces since i just put those in to see how i would set them since i dont have the actual subs yet. also i will be throwing in a couple of 45's to help so am i missing anything big/gettin…

hey guys, this is probably a noob question, but i have an 18" fi q in my car with the bp option. i have it hooked up to a hifonics 1610 1600watts rms, i am running about 1200 (i set it with a dmm). its in a 6.3 cubic foot box after displacement, and its tuned to 31 hz. my question is, why is it that when my doors are open it sounds alot louder than with the door shut. opening the windows helps when im driving, but its getting cold and i wasnt sure if there was anything i could do to make it loud with the doors and windows shut. any help would b great. thanx.

Doing a system for a friend with an Intrepid. He already has the subs and amp- 2 12" T2's in D4 config, and a rockford T2000 to power them. Lots of room in the trunk to play around with so this is what i was thinking: 5 cubes gross, single slot port appox 96 sq inch tuned to 35hz. Subs and Ports firing rear. Goal is primarily SPL and as long as it doesn't sound like complete ass he's cool with whatever. Listens mostly to rap. What do you guys think?

Need suggestions on bracing for this box. Would a single 4x4 in the center of this box be enough bracing for top to bottom. I haven't added bracing from side to side or front to back yet. Total top width is just over 52 and bottom is just over 41 wide 38 deep and 18 tall designed for 4 12's

What is the best place to find 4" id aero ports that don't flare out past 6.75" maybe 7" that won't break the bank? What would be the best brand for the price? Is it better or easier to use schedule 40 pvc pipe or the tubes you can buy for the flares or get a whole kit? Will any flare fit pvc pipe? Would they work if the port inside the box faced each other about 16" apart, firing in opposite directions? Ps i will have 4 sa-8s in about 2.73 cubes before any displacement with about 500 watts going to each and i do not have enough room to use 6". And i want to have it tuned for daily use, anywhere in between 33-40 hz

ok. i think i might have the box ready to go with all the deminsions. i play on putting 2 sundown nightshade 18s in my truck. i was told it need 12^2-16^2 inches of port area. so the box i came up with is 11.5 cubes, with a a port that is 33 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide, this will give me 181.5^2 inches of port area and i need 184 with the box size. its going to be tuned to 30hz. will this work out to be a good box? or do i need to do something different, just let me know

Since I have a Ford Taurus my trunck was totally sealed and no bass would come through and had to port my seat and my deck lid and am trying to locate some speaker cloth that will let the bass to travel through without affecting airflow. Do they make this. I did try the metal mesh grill like I saw in an Overhualing tv show but found it affected bass intensity and sound quality. I am a musician and know my bassists amp has a plastic type mesh (grill) that suppesedly doesn't affect sound quality. Just wondering if anyone out there uses anything specific?

the sub should be here within the week. it will be going in a 2002 cavalier. i have limits on the box, so i have come up with 36w x 17h x 13d with 2 3"ID ports tuning to 35hz. i read some where i could tune the box a little higher due to the fact i listen to a wide range of music. any truth?? sub will fire into the cab area. i have also read some where about sealing off the trunk. so, i would seal off the enclosure from the rest of the trunk and channel all the sound into the cab area?? any specifications on space needed in front of the woofer or ports??
