SPL & SQ / Fabrication

I've been to one spl comp and it was not even a real event, just a thing where people could get on the mic's (and audiocontrol mics at that ). I live in seattle and can not find a SINGLE spl comp anywhere near here. It seems like they are all out east. Around here we have Adire and Audiocontrol as well as Sounddomain.com / cardomain.com and other names that are getting somwhat big so my question is, why no comps around here???? -aaron

Today at my 1st comp... i was able to accomplish 140dB's with my 3.2cube@32hz box. It was on the new Termlab. Yes u may say its weak, but i've got big plans for this coming season... totally redoing my whole box. I took 3rd place in Stock 301-900 in USACi comp here in Sacramento. It was alot of fun... if no one believes i hit 140, ask tyler(marleyskater420), he was there. Pretty cool guy, it was fun meetin up wit him. Anyways guys, i just wanted to let everyone know . I'm pretty stoaked.... seeing as i had 1 12(RE XXX w/ RE35.1), and the person who took 2nd had 2 12s and was 1 dB louder than me. This H2 Hummer was at the 2003 North of the Border Bash.. it got 143db in the SPL competition.. The guy doesn't compete.. he just wanted to see where he stands in the SPL realm...

I only get static when both sets of rca's are plugged into my 4 channel avionix amp. When i have ony 1 set of rca in the amp it is clear (Static-free). I tested this on both sides of the amp and the same thing happens regardless if i have the rear rca installed or front rca installed or vice versa. ANy ideas?

Why do you compete? Since I opened, I will let you all know why I compete. I compete to have fun and to represent. One of the main reasons why I compete is because of the gear I run. Back when i started, it was about fun and there were plenty of Orion competitors, now there is a few of us, and I doubt that none are as serious as I with the Orion equipment. That would be the main reason, to bring back the Orion name to the competition arena, make them the proud people they used to be. ok what assocation(s), classes and what equipment are you going to be running post um up

i'm new to car audio, but would really like to learn to custom build and fabricate (amongst other things), so i was wondering where i could go to learn to do those things. i know there are tutorials, but i learn better with hands-on experience, so are there any places anyone could suggest. thanks for your suggestions

We will be partaking in a new format this year. We have decided, after heavy heart, to drop the dB Drag format and proceed to the IASCA IdbL format. We still plan on hosting our normal 6 shows and possibly a 2x event. We are also thinking of hosting a couple night shows so that the people who have spent the money on neon will have a chance to show that off. Also we are perspectively hosting all events this year in conjunction with "Compact Evolution" which is the brainchild of Garrett Sweet. Ok so they have these so called SPL subs right like Re's new MT or treo's CSX right, ok so i was looking at them and then was told they were no for everyday listening.... ..What the hell does that mean, to me it makes it seem like if i'm not giving it a constant tone or something, the sub will mess up, dont really see how but thats what it seems like, now if they meant that it would be to loud for everyday listening...i'm game, that just means my car would be one loud SOB...just kinda stumped on this not for everyday listening thing...
