Ok so they have these so called SPL subs right like Re's new MT or treo's CSX right, ok so i was looking at them and then was told they were no for everyday listening.... ..What the hell does that mean, to me it makes it seem like if i'm not giving it a constant tone or something, the sub will mess up, dont really see how but thats what it seems like, now if they meant that it would be to loud for everyday listening...i'm game, that just means my car would be one loud SOB...just kinda stumped on this not for everyday listening thing...

i currently built my first box ever...and it came out pretty good...there are some minor gaps...which i believe are due to warped boards because all cuts were made by me on a table saw...but back to the point...i siliconed the crap out of the inside and silicone into the port (around the port pieces and one of the other corners) will that change anything such as tuning? or increase the liklihood of port noise etc?

Hi guys, I drive an SUV for the first time, with enough of trunk space (for the first time of my life) ! It's a Mazda CX-5 (2.2 l diesel with 150 hp) : I love it hopefully :-) :-) I will use my Zcon 15" on an IA20.1 amplifier. I think I'll do sub up. But how to put the port ? Port up or port to the rear ? How much room is necessary between the port and the rear hatch ? Is there a maximum ? If I put it firing back, what would be good and why ? Port standing on a side of the back panel of the box, or laying down on all the width ? I see both scenarii for SUV generally. I'll take some mesurements later. I think I can easily run my sub in a 4ft3 net enclosure, in this…

Picked up 4 havoc 15's for my ext cab f150. Problem I have is my max width in the back is 58.5" and I want to fire up so I can't do a straight baffle and have enough surface area. I need to do an angled baffle and have come up with two ideas but wanted to throw it out to see if anybody had a preference between the two or maybe other suggestions. Max dimensions are roughly 25h x 23.5d x 58.5 long These will be sealed:

Have a 12" icon showing up soon and would like to get an enclosure ready for it. I've been using the bitpusher site to help me calculate the box. This is what I have so far Now I prefer to use a Single 4" precision port. I'm unsure how to calculate the entire port area I have with this setup. Reading through past threads and SSA's recommended 2.25 cu ft tuned in the low 30s. Also saw in a thread that for that size box I should aim for around 35 sq in of port. Pi * r * r doesn't calculate the length? Missing something somewhere maybe someone can help. Is a single 4" aero going to give me enough port area? Anything you see wrong here? One other thing. Going off the picture…

I'd like a box cabinet plan drawn up I don't know if I'm going with this design yet or not, but if I do I'd like to have a plan for it. I'm basically doing a homebrew version of this: http://www.omegaloudspeakers.com/ts33.htm Using these drivers: http://www.madisound.com/pdf/fostexcabs/fe126e_encl.pdf If it models well, I wouldn't mind going with a tower speaker instead of a bookshelf - although I don't know exactly how it would react. Thanks...

Well ive decided since i still have a week or two before i can start building my box, im going to design a ported box instead of a sealed box for my single ss rl-p 18. im going to stick with the suggested size and tuning(5cubes, 27hz) but i want to use flared aero ports. So here are some questions. 1) what diameter port should i buy and how many?( i kind of want two for the looks, but if ones better, let me know) 2) do you measure the flare of the port when tuning it? 3) were is a good place to buy them? thanks for the help!

Hey all.I REALLY want to build my own box but im worried that it would be to hard to do.I would like a simple dual 15" ported box for my type r 15's.I just don't know if its something I can tackle or not.So my question is in your guys eyes on a scale of 1-10 1 being easy as pie 10 being hard as can be,how tough is it to build a ported box? Also is there like a site or something that can help me with a design and other stuff like that? Thanks

I'm adding a budget sub stage to my girlfriends 99 Chevy Blazer. It will be 2 powerbass PS-12's on a 600 watt el cheapo amp. Her main choices of music are mainly alternative rock (Matchbox Twenty, Weezer, Audioslave, etc), and country. My question is, what would be the optimal enclosure for this listening style? Would sealed be best for this setup, or a slightly high tuned ported one? (If so, what frequency?) The goals of this system is not necessarily major output, but mainly just adding a good sounding blended sub stage. She doesn't need it to be super loud, but she does want some decent output to be there when she wants it. I will be installing a bass knob for her so s…

Hey! I´m new here Just ordered a Warden 18 2x2 ohms thats going to sit in my SAAB 9000 coupé in the trunk. It will get about 4500 rms from a Soundstream Goliath Tarantula XXX 6500D. How big box do I need? I want to play loud (ofc) but loud to music, not to pure sinewaves. The music I´m playing is Lil Jon, Ludacris, Young Jeezy... that kind so tuned to 30 hz would be really nice Depending on what the FS is. Cant find it *If I´m spelling something wrong its because I´m Swedish *

  16. Got another addition to the family today. I have all winter to build these...so its time to ponder enclosure ideas. Building into 12"s. Going in the trunk of a 04' Grand Prix Thinking of allocating about 5 cubes to L port. Box can be deep as long as its not over 15 " tall. Was also thinking if a 4th order would be worth it, but its very hard to find info on successful sealed builds with these, So I'm taking a shot in the dark. Sub forward port forward may not fit across very well. It will be tight. But probably would work. They are very heavy drivers however, and would like to have space for bracing. Was maybe thinking aero port to driver side, or..

seeing that SQ is subjective to the person lisening, I have redefined SQ: 1. Having Quality speakers, able to be clear enuff to sound good over subs doing 152db Daily 2. having an amp ablt to push that set of mids & highs without distorting. 3. Hu has to have SQ Freq control features feel free to add to the list

Well heres the plan. Thats the rear window in my cab. thats the front window in the fiberglass camper shell... I plan to take out both windows and run a gasket between the two. I've heard that you use some kinda RV gasket... what is it called? As far as I know I'm going with two IXL-12s and a 2500D. Would 3/4 MDF be thick enough (Rona has no 1").. I didn't check any other stores.

Originally I thought my enclosure specs were very close to these, tuning and volume wise: 42W" x 22H" x 22D" - outer dimensions= 9.84961ft3 gross volume 7.3ft3 net volume tuned to 32Hz 6W" x 20.5H" for 123in2 of port area port 1-14.5" + port 2- 7" = 21.5" port length After reading through Chops end correction thread, Ive decided to do the math myself and find out what Ive really got. This is what Ive come up with. Im way off... The port length is actually 27.5". I had no idea how to measure the port. The tuning is more like 30.3Hz port volume calculation: 6W" x 20.5H"=123in2 123in2 x 27.5"=3382.5in2 3382.5in2/1728in2= 1.96ft3 of port volume 9.84961ft3-1.96ft3(port volume…

I've had this sub for about a year and I want to build a new box for it. The first time, I built the port a little small (port area wise), so this time I'm going to make it bigger as well as increase the box volume. My plan is to make a box that is 32" wide, 22" tall, and 28" deep with a port that will be 20.5" tall, 6" wide and 35.6" deep. According to bassbox pro, that will give me a 29hz tuning. Does this sound right? Those are the maximum dimensions I can fit in the back of my Jeep while still keeping the port about 5-6" away from the hatch. Any suggestions? BTW, it'll be sub up, port back and it's powered off of a sundown SAZ-1000d. Also, do you think I'll need a…

I am wanting to add more low end to my truck and I think I have decided to do a rear console. But I dont know which way to fire the sub or subs. The box will be roughly 2.4cu and is 14x28x14. This is going in a 07 Harley F250. Here is a few pics of a cardboard make up box. So should I do one 12 rear facing and ported or do 2 10's or 2 12's down firing sealed? If I do a down firing box it will need to come up 2-3 inches so it would be alittle higher than pics. The box will be black carpet to match. Looking for hard hitting low clean bass. I could maybe get another .5 if I slope the front and bring it down. Looking at either SA-10's 12"s or SSA Dcon or ICONS and a SA-1500…
