Today at my 1st comp... i was able to accomplish 140dB's with my 3.2cube@32hz box. It was on the new Termlab. Yes u may say its weak, but i've got big plans for this coming season... totally redoing my whole box. I took 3rd place in Stock 301-900 in USACi comp here in Sacramento. It was alot of fun... if no one believes i hit 140, ask tyler(marleyskater420), he was there. Pretty cool guy, it was fun meetin up wit him. Anyways guys, i just wanted to let everyone know . I'm pretty stoaked.... seeing as i had 1 12(RE XXX w/ RE35.1), and the person who took 2nd had 2 12s and was 1 dB louder than me. He got 141.1 i believe. 1st place went to Steve Meade, with 2 18s with a bd1…

Hey all, newb here! I just ordered a 12" BTL, so I have about 3 weeks to plan my build, with the biggest project being the box. I heard a while ago that in an SUV, a setup in which the subwoofer is pointing up, and the port is pointing back is optimal (straight from Memphis Audio), but yesterday I found a page showing tests that the subwoofer pointing back yielded higher SPL levels versus the same sub pointing up or even to the side. Which is correct? Does anyone have any personal experience with SUVs that can shed some light for me? I will probably be building the box to Fi's cut sheet dimensions, just need to know whether to put the sub on top, with the port facing…

I have a honda accord 99 with a trunk vent (8"x3" slot) behind the paneling on the driver side. I notice the other day that there was a lot of air leaking through there when the bass note hits. Would sealing this up help with spl and is this bad for the car? My box is in the trunk sub and port facing back. Just wanted to know if anyone had this problem and what did you do to it?

Bass race death match was awesome to, I'll get the video later. Anyway, I built for this thing and I won, it ended up with a 146.1 for a 5min average. It could have been higher but there was no need to turn it up (as you'll see i started at a 148 and backed it down) This was taken this past weekend in Augusta, GA at one of the db drag events. Car off, 5minutes, four loudest street cars at once! I started high, and then turned it down just above the guy next to me. The guy with crx got a late start, so he only did a 138(burps a 151), the guy in the red truck had 2 L510's and a Orion 1200D and held a 138 for the 5min. Not bad! It was a looong five minutes sitting inside …

  10. I just bought a pair of 10" dcons from Stefan on this very forum yesterday. So while they are on their way I'm looking to get a box design for them. Subs up port back. Looking for the most optimal enclosure size using what ever type of port that would work better for me (slot, aero, or pvc port that sticks out of the enclosure itself) with the dimensions I have H x W x D 13" x 28" x 17" tuned to 32hz. Thanks for the help.

Okily dokily, in the middle of building my kicks. Was thinking of ways to deaden them. Got to thinking about the idea behind using mat's and such. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the idea behind them to add enough mass so that the offending resonations are either stopped. or moved out of the audible range. With this in mind, I got to thinking of best ways to add mass and came up with an idea. I have a rather large stash of lead shot ( used to reload shells for my dad ) . Any thoughts on coating the inside of the kicks with an epoxy lead shot mix ? Seems like it would work. Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Starting a box for a friend tomorrow. He has 2 12in kicker cvr's in a prefab box with the ports stuffed with towels because it's way to small to be ported. Lol I will be building a 5 cu box tuned at 32hz. Dimensions are 36w x26d x15h, port is 5in x 13.5in and around 26 in long. It will be 3/4, double baffled and 1in dowel braced. He doesn't have much power JLa1400 (500rms) Should be good for when he can get some real subs and a bigger amp. It's going in a Cadillac deville trunk rear facing. Opinions are welcome., although after spending about a hour making the cut sheet I am pretty set on it, lol. Can post pics during build if anyone wants to see it, should be a huge i…

Planing on tuning it to almost 42 hz. This will be a competition box for my 04 jeep liberty. Subs up port back left. My question is what type of sq foot should i use for this box. Alpine's site says use around 2.5^2 per sub in a ported enclosure. Also if it matters im planning on running these off of a Sundown SAZ 2500d

UPDATED!!! finally got everything worked out that i wanted, plus a neat addition or two. ***When downloading, make sure it is saved with a .exe file extension, or it will not open properly. the 'Open with...' window will pop up otherwise*** (thanks gottahavbass917 and a user from another forum) To do this, go to the folder that the calculator is in and click tools in the toolbar at the top (click alt on the keyboard if you can't see the toolbar). Then click folder options. then click the view tab, and in the advanced settings window, there's a check box that says 'hide extensions for known file types'. Uncheck that and you will see the .uexe file extension on the calculat…

Well my set up starts as this the 18 inch xcon will be going in my rear seat of my 1993 ford mustang gt i already have a cheap 15 inch sub in the hatch (its on its way to being replaced just figuring out with what) so back seat is where the xcon goes Now i have enough space for almost optimal ported box but it cuts visability down a fair bit and this is a daily driver. So my questions are how much sound loss would i loose roughly going with a sealed build as to a ported build ( not really going for sq tho most know xcons sound amazing anways). 2nd ? if i do go ported is there a huge diffrence between going say 6ft^3 affter displacement and bracing as apposed to say 7+ft…

Well a few questions here. Would you guys mount your amps to the back of your seats if you could? Why or why not? Second -- I tried mounting my small amp to the back of my seat but its at least 3/4 inch metal. We tried using a metal bit but it ended up wrecking it. Both my friend and I tried for a few minutes trying to trill one hole but couldn't get it to drill through.

I'm running an Fi BL 15 on a sundown sae-1200d in a scion tc. Bought a prefab box for it a couple of months ago but im looking to get my system as loud as possible (currently upgrading electrical as well). The box seems to be tuned around maybe 50hz or so, as in Young jeezy's song "white girl" (i believe it has a 30hz note and a 50hz note) and the 50hz one hits way harder than the 30. If i built a new box, and tuned it to around 33hz, in that song it would be the other way around having the 30hz note be the louder one correct? Heres the box that I have now: http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/1833/img2746u.jpg How much would it cost roughly to build a new box like this (s…

I recently opened up a tint shop and have had a lot of customers wanting audio, so I just picked up the Sundown line. I've been an installer for 14 yrs now, but all the shops I've worked at did cookie cutter systems with pre-fab boxes so I never really learned how to make a box and match it to the subs. I've built plenty of boxes, so the actual building is not what I'm looking for it's just getting the correct size and port length I need. I see a lot of threads recommending box calculators like torres ect. which I've downloaded, but I don't see how you're converting the sub specs to box design. I found the AJ vented designer program which does this (I'm looking to built m…

Ok so since i have a trunk, and its a luxury car all of the bass is staying int he trunk. I cut a hole in the panel in the back and put a gril over it, and its loud enough in the cab, but i got and and listened to it yesterday and my treble is still killing my bass, i mean when you get out you can hear it but not like you should. I went back to the trunk and i could feel a nice breeze of air exscaping through the cracks. What to do, i was thinking of either cutting a bigger hole taking off the whole panel or taking out the back seat well trying to.
