Okay so I want to build my own box of time I've had my box built in the past for me. Mostly leaning towards the sq side. I want to build something loud this time. I seen read a lot of stuff on here its got me confused. I did try downloading winid on my laptop but couldn't exactly get it to work right. I left it alone for a couple weeks cuz I had plans on changing my subs but they fell thru. since then my laptop has died and I do not have a way to use that program to figure out what kind of numbers I need. So if somebody could tell me port size and cubes to build i can use those to make a design. I have 2 zcon 15's. Cresendo 3500 on each turned down a bit. Thinking 31hz. I…

I suck at google sketch. Can someone help me? I know the dimensions but I would like to see it in 3D. Width, 38 inches Height, 18 inches Top Depth, 10 inches Bottom Depth, 18 inches This is for a 15 inch sub. The sub will be mounted on the angled panel. I am using two 4 inch aero ports that will be mounted on the top 10x38 panel.

i have two idq12's in a 1.7 cubic sealed box powered by one dls A6(875@2ohm-1200@1ohm). i listen to mostly metal so i need the sub to be able to keep up with the fast double kick-drum. the problem with my set-up is i can keep up with the beat but lack lowend. i took out my xtant 1000/1 think it was the subsonic filter frequency blocking low notes. it must be the box- what is the best application for a truck

I did search 'box carpet',and you'd be amazed (sarcasm) how much those two words are used on this forum. lol, i went through about 15 pages and found some good info on where to get it,but i still have one question. A lot of people said they got their carpet from a hobby store, and i'm just curious what kind of carpet to look for when i get there. I could be wrong, but i don't see them having "sub enclosure carpet", so i really just need a name to call it... If i can't find it at a hobby store, i guess partsexpress.com is the next choice ($5.85/yd... much better than crutchfield's $30 for 3yds.)

currently running a sundown saz1500 powering a fully loaded 12in fi bl in a 2.5 cu ft box tuned to 34 hz. I was recently at a local audio shop and had the main guy set my gains properly so i did no have any clipping. I was not very impressed with the outcome. As i come to find i had been running with clipping since day one and my system is now quieter. He told me to tune my box to 40-42hz and it would be louder. My question is how much louder? and will i still be able to play most rap music? What would be the lowest tone i could safely play?

I looked at a couple of websites but am still confused as to how to tune the port to the frequency you want. And how does the length, width, height of the port affect the tuning?

i know pretty much nothing about mids and highs just to throw that out there. Is there a big enough difference between running mids/highs on 2 ohms vs 4 ohms that is actually worth sacrificing the power to run @ 4 ohms? or is 2 ohms going to be good enough for a daily driver? edit: by the way if anyone has a good place to educate myself on mids/highs that would be greatly appreciated.

posted by ohjay is he a hater or did he just get a shitty box Bah, you don't want the POS box that comes with them, you're better off with the prefab boxes. I have one that was built by Kevin and the baffle flops like a fish out of water with 175 watt rms subs.

I know this question has been posted before all over, but many of the discussions just turn into b***hfests, and no straight good answer is given. Would stuffing (polyfill etc...), or lining (vibration damper, mlv, etc...) a properly sized and well built box make any difference on the sound quality/characteristics of the subwoofer it contains? I'm looking for one good answer please, not a million random opinions. My head is just in a daze after looking at how many odd forum posts that don't answer the question I'm posing. Thanks to anyone who has good knowledge on this topic!

Well, I'm adding 2 more DP21"s to my Expedition in a month or two. I was planning on doing a clam wall at the B-pillars. But I also started thinking doing a diamond type enclosure would be pretty sweet too. So I'm looking for some opinions on what you think would be louder, first and foremost, and look better. Which ever design I go with will be at the B-pillars, between 35 and 40 cubes, tuned to 32hz. Please explain why you voted the way you did. I have never done either of these designs, so any tips are also appreciated. The subs.

I'm starting my first system with 4 of the rl-i8's and need a lil help on my box. it's not gonna be just one big box but 4 seperate ported boxes. each one will be about (acording to the program im using) 10" wide, 15" tall, and 9" deep. im having problems with the port though. the program said it should be 1/2" by 2" by 2" deep for a 35 hz. this sounds way small to me. is it? and does this idea seem good or is it too "over the top."

I am wondering if the Mach 5 SPL-12s would be any good in a T-Line? I have been told they should be good, but the fs is sorta high. I am planning on doing this with my camper shell but with a different box... the box can run the length of my truck... I plan to make up some metal frame for the box to sit on inside the bed. Having the box above the floor will give me room for my air ride when that gets installed..

Hey guys, my friend has a Ford Ranger and he asked me if having the port facing the door or roof would be louder. And I decided to ask on here for him. Reason because he is getting a box designed, what would the pros/cons of having it facing either way be? Thanks in advance.

  19. so in a month or 2 i will be starting on my rebuild to run 2 old style XXX15's, 2 sundown saz-1500d's and other goodies i haven't decided yet(sound deading, comps and such). well, what my plan is on running these is to seal my trunk off from the cabin. for the box i want to forward fire it along with the port. from where i see it the baffle will sit 2-3 inches from the rear seat opening. the trunk space i have available is 40" wide, 17" tall, and about 29" deep. though for the size enclosure I'm going for about 6cu before displacement. i believe i have about 8-9cu before displacement total. here is a quick sketch i drew up on a graph paper. each cube length stands for 1" …

Putting this into a grand caravan, middle seats up, backseat stowed. Going ported, thinking 30-33hz tuning wise, any recommendations? Going to run it off a Sundown 1500d, so box size recommendations? Also, will be running the stock alt for awhile (160 factory). Doing my big 3 upgrade with 1/0 and a single run of 1/0 for now....later upgrades will be wiring and alt before anything else...also no sound deadening for now...also looking for any recommendations for sub/port orientation? sub/port back towards hatch, sub up/ports toward hatch, sub up/port facing side....anyone with experience in a minivan would be nice, not that most of you have one, but a guy can hope lol. than…

Help Please. I want to build a ported box for 4 FI 15" BTL's Currently I have a 9 Cuft box with 2 FI 15" BTL's. Each sub in it's own enclosure. FI suggests 3-5 Cuft per sub. Can I make just one box for all 4 with one port? Or do I make a box that seperates all 4 or two? I like the sound with 4.5 Cuft per sub. I am also lost on the port area if I make one 18 Cuft box for all 4. Really appreciate your suggestions here. Thanks, JR

  24. got my iCONs in, and im starting a few enclosures.. problem is, im not sure what kind of airspace is optimal.. id rather build 1 or 2 boxes and play with the tuning rather then ad to my collection of T&E boxes.. hoop of the trunk is unbelievably small, so the box might be split into 2 boxes.. ive got a few solid ideas for boxes that have measured out to 2.5 each sub.. should i be shooting for over 3.0??? from DevilDriver's review it seems the subs like the biggest possible enclosure.. il post pics in a few
