As the title says, has anyone ever built a steel enclosure? Does it sound any different? Just curious if its been done, if anything was gained, etc. This is more geared for spl

Hi i've had my fi btl in now for over two months and although im fine with it i've noticed its not hitting the highs quite as well as i want it too....but the lows are exremely awesome i have the box tuned to 33hz could that be the problem...any help is appreciated.

So, Ive been roaming around this forum to find some ideas on some box ideas for my 2 18" Fi Qs going in a 2000 Chevy Blazer. I listen to mostly rap that go into the low 30hz range and higher so yess this is my daily driver, so Ive designed some boxes of my own to see what you guys think about them. Hereeeee we go... Box Design 1: Separate chambers, 7.25 cu. ft. each after displacements @ 28hz - Subs forward, port forward Box Design 2: Separate chambers, 6.75 cu. ft. each after displacements @ 32hz (I knowww its kinda wicked design but oh well..) - Subs back, port forward Let me know what you guys think!! i am about to attempt to build my first box for my two db drive platinum 12s and a few friends have been telling me that a down fire box would be the way to go I am wondering if it really makes any difference in the bass level or spl I also planning on porting the box but I'm not sure where the best location for the port would be I'm new to all this when it comes to fabricating an enclosure. Its going to be about a 4 cubic foot box in an extended cab s10 with the port tuned to around 32-35 hertz. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

So i went to the new shop opening up in my area and got to talking with the guys there and well one thing lead to another and i was cramming a box into the backseat of my volvo. Did i forget to mention it was for free? eaa free and after something ive decided on building a wall, yea not alot of people do 1 15" or 1 18" in a wall but this box fits no where else so why not? here in the philippines, there is a 10" challenge for car audio shops.. who ever can make the RE MT10 hit 150+ DB gets another free MT10.. restrictions are: single MT10" on trunk 1amp 1extra battery me and other shop owners tried it.. amp used: AAMP monster 5kw box: tuned @ 45hz wires: guage 0 stinger wires extra bat: stinger SPV70 first the MT10 on the term lab it hit 146.2 we tried the same setup on a FI BL fulloption.. on the term lab it hit 148.6 how did this happen?ö?ö?

First off, can I count on port end correction to lower the tuning freq of my enclosure? For example, NET Vol. = 2.6 cuft. or 4493 cuin. Port: 12.5" wide x 3.375" high X 24" long without end correction, (port length = 24") tuning = 38.58Hz with end correction, (port length = 25.6875") tuning = 37.52Hz I know 1Hz difference in tuning isn't really audible (but the end correction factor will differ in different situations i.e. port height, etc), but I want to know if the end correction factor actually exists!!!! Secondly, I'm about to build a box for one DD 9512g. DD recommends 42 in^2 port area with 22 port length with 2.6 cuft NET vol. which yields 39.97 Hz tuning …

i got test tones from 20 hrtz to 85 but i fail to find a sweep for free. any ideas?

Is there any audible difference between using a enclosure that's using a (sub forward, port forward) and a (sub up, port forward) enclosure. I'm thinking of several options for my first system

I recently found this box picture: I love how the port and the edges are rounded. I'm guessing that on the edges that they achieved that with a lot of sanding. I'm wondering how to shape the port like that. I'm considering remaking my box, to try to achieve something like this. It looks completely badass.

alright so i think im going to be mounting my future amp to the back of a seat. is that bad? and also what material is good so the amp doesn't rattle around.

Hello Guys, What do you think will work best for me and will sound louder, 12" in a 2.5 cu.ft. or 15" in 3 cu.ft. both will be tuned 37hz? Brand is IA Warden. Recommended enclosure for 12" - 2-3 cu. ft. Recommended enclosure for 15" - 3-5 cu. ft. Thanks in advance!

So i've been doing some reading and I'd like to seal the rear vents in my '06 tahoe. I've never worked with sound dampener before but I think that's the best route to go..Any suggestions as to what I need to buy or the best way to do this? Pic of someone elses truck an the vents in question:

Aight, so I'm looking to buy a box for my 15" fi bl, since I cant find anyone to build it for me locally, cant get the dimensions, and cant figure it out myself lmao. Was wondering if any of you guys have heard of Shipsound.com? Their boxes are the size im looking for (the 4.3cf in particular), but their prices seem to good to be true, most of them are under $100. I know some cars are louder facing back and some facing foward sealed from the trunk. i was wondering if anyone knew what was best for an 04 hyundai sonata? i was looking at a 15in or an 18in with between 3000-3500 watts depending on which amp i deicide on. looking for loud daily.reason for one sub is cost. thanks alot.

i got 2 15 fi q i got a subwoofer box with the front slanted.. will it make a difference in sound?? i got 2.3cubic feet per sub on the box.. on a 2005 nissan altima running a soundstream rubicon 2500 with kinetik hc600 and rockford fosgate 0 gauge amp kit.. the box is on its way and im worried about will the slant make a sound difference will it decrease the sound quality?? ill be facing the subs towards the trunk away from me. well its in the building process..i can send an email and tell the builder to make it square if it makes a difference..

I want to run a Fi Q 18" off an saz-1500d in my new project, a 95 eldorado. I want to put it in the trunk. My trunk isn't tall enough to fire an 18 back so it'll have to fire up. I'm getting rid of the rear 6x9's, so I was thinking sub in the middle of the box firing up and a round port on either side firing into the empty speaker holes in the back deck. Box dimensions would be 38wide, 16.75tall with double baffle and 24 deep. Winisd is saying to tune 6.5 cu ft to 28hz i need two 4" round ports 10.15" long. That's .073 cu ft each. Or .015 total, and .24 for the sub. So .39 off 6.9 cu ft, giving me a net of 6.5 cu ft. Should the ports be flush with the top of the box, or …

this is my plan. im building a box that has 4 nightshade 15s. i designed the box on a 3d program to scale. the box is 19.5 cubes. the port is 7inches wide and 38.5 inches tall. that gives me 269.5^2 inches of port area and i need 12-16^2 inches of port area for each cube of airspace. so ill make the port area requirement. the box is tuned to 30hz. i will also be having all the walls 1.5inches thick. everything will be liguid nailed and screwed together.what you guys think? i cant seem to get the pictures to upload. i dont know how to get it from google sketchup to a image hosting site. any help with this?

So I have two 21" dp's and I am wondering, what is a good rule of thumb for port area on a spl box? As far as square inches per cubic ft? I have never done a spl setup. And I am planing on doing two slot ports for spl and plugging one for daily use. And would 10 square inches per cube too small for daily beating? Also may try something like four areos to keep down on internal space.

whats up guys? Havent been on here in a while... Im running a Kicker kx2500.1 on a 18" Btl. The sub is a few years old, triple stack magnet, cooling, pchamfer etc..dual 2 ohm. It is in the back of my 2001 tahoe right now. I have a box, but it looks like crap and I need a new one. What would you feel would be a decent size and tuning? I listen to mostly rap, love when it hits super low and moves some air. I think my box is tuned around 34 hz right now. Could I go lower for daily? Got a question: Noticed that spl meters seem to have a simple pressure sensor in them. Does anyone know the formula to convert SPL to PSI? If so, I may just make a home brew SPL meter to test changes made. I have a 3-bar map sensor sitting around which can read the barometric at first for calibration, then anything after that. Or am I way off base here?

So basically I'm slowly piecing my system together and had an idea for an amp rack that is somewhat "expandable". It consists of a wooden base, with a wooden box attached to the end of it for the amps, batteries, etc to be placed into. I'm planning on having ventilation and having the rear of it open faced. It would have shelving for the amps.I'm thinking I could secure the wooden base to these strap hooks I have in the rear of my truck (2006 tahoe), have them protude through the bottom then either use a heavy duty strap or bolts through them. I'd rather not drill into the body anymore than I have in order to secure it. One of the reasons I'd like this design is for secur…
