OK tell me if this looks correct. TD=time delay A=distance in feet from ear 1132ft/sec=speed of sound 1000=ms TD=(A/1132)*1000 Left=2.2ft 1.94ms=(2.2/1132)1000 Right=4.6ft 4.06ms=(4.6/1132)1000 4.06-1.94=2.12 TD Does this look correct? I found this formula on ECA, I am having problems finding other formulas on the topic.

  3. I am currently designing a box for a DD9512g which will be on a SAZ 2500D. I wanna tune to 36-37 Hz with about 2.5-2.6 net volume. My question is: What has greater potential increase of SPL. A lower port mach or more port area? Thanks!

I've got quite a lot going on right now if you cant tell, I've got a client's SQ truck and my personal SPL build going at the same time. I've got some great info from you guys on the SQ build so lets try some on my SPL build. Last year we took state records in USACi in Stock 1801-3001, since then we've been addicted to going bigger and louder. We want to be able to still play music so, no pure tones/burp set up. We've got the durango ripped to down to having nothing but a dash, being completely deadened up. The idea sits at building a wall behind the B pillars for 4 18" BTLs. Haven't decided on what to do to power them yet. We have more than enough room to give them all…

I KNOW THIS DOESNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS FORUM BUT PLEASE HERE ME OUT AND ANSWER THIS!!! I'm holding off on the 4 BTL's just for now until I get my money right but for now I want to know if this is a good setup? I plan on buying 5 of these (To Save Space) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3835_Kicker+05C84.html This amp for subs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9551_H...+TXi+1008D.html The box is going to be custom made (To fit the trunk) (Ported) maybe tuned to 27 Hz.,is 27 Hz. loud or should I tune lower? And its going in a 2004 Chevy Aveo. Im going to parallel wire the 4 ohm subs to 2 ohms. For a educated guess do you think I'll be hitting @ leats 140db? I…

If I were using the RE enclosure calculator, do I need to take into account the speakers displacement for the tuning? Should I tune about 1-2 hz below my desired tune hz? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know what a Kicker L7 would like the box tuned to? Thanks!

I have a Hummer H3 with dual Sundown sa-12D4's running off a Hifonics BRZ1700.1 with 145 amp alt, big 3, 0 gauge, 8 gauge power wire for the speaker wire. I have them in a box with dimensions 38x21.25x14; .75 mdf. The port is 12.5x4.5x31.5 long. I have made the port longer and shorter and can't seem to get it to peak around 34hz. It sounds like it is peaking around 38 or so to me. I have built many single sub boxes, and all of them end up being just about perfect, but I can't seem to get this dual box to sound correctly. I have made 3 different boxes trying to get my box hitting the lows well, but can't seem to do it. Could somebody please help me to get the right …

This is going to sound awfully newbish, because...well it is. I see all over this forum and various others about what to tune a ported box to. Well it dawned on me a while back, what does it mean if you tune a box to, ah lets say 32 hz? Does that mean that the subwoofer can only play notes above this frequency, or what? Also what particular specification(s) point you in the right direction on what to tune the enclosure to (besides the obvious manufacturer's recommended boxes, as I see a lot of people that don't necessarily stick to what the company provides.) Please go easy on me, as I am really clueless when it comes to ported enclosures (as I personally like sealed …

I remember reading somewhere about the relationship between a box's port area and potential output. The reason i ask is i have been looking at the IXL drivers from Mach 5 and in order to tune low in such small boxes the port needs to be quite large in order to avoid port noise. I was looking at a 2cf box with a fairly large port (roughly 50 inches) my question is will such a large port casue a loss in output? i was looking at tuning at 30Hz for a daily setup that would hammer out the lows. Is there a general rule of thumb regarding port size compaired with box volume? Could someone point me in the right direction (i haved tried to search) I was hoping some of the experie…

so i still havent gotten around to doing a new box for my bro's L7. but im thinking about trying something alittle different. he basicly only wants spl so im thinking about trying a wall... i have to build the box in the trunk anyways so might aswell try something new. its a mercury sable by the way. im thinking 6 cubes net design from the manual or do a tuning around 34hz...? we are prepared to deaden the rear deck, etc. will there be more output from a wall in this car or would it be a waist of time? if we did the 6 without the wall there wont be much of a trunk left anyways... and im sure we can seal the trunk off from the rest of the car effectively.

Hey all. I've been riding with the ICON sealed for some time and want to put it in a ported box. Really not sure how to make sure the design is correct or even how to work WinISD but below is what I've gathered. I was posting on diymobile and got some help and was suggested a ported box, 2.0ft^3 @ 30hz will give the flattest response. Below is a copy paste from the sticky of "making a correct box design thread" Vehicle : 08 Acura TL Location in the vehicle: Trunk Space available (Length x Width x Height): 23x19x14 (Can be wider and deeper than height) Subwoofer make and model: SSA ICON Subwoofer Size: 12" Number of Subwoofers: 1 Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.…

Hey everyone, i have 2 T10001's powering 4 15" cvr's and im looking into a more reliable subwoofer that will belt out the lows a little bit better. I have narrowed it down to 2 18" Bl's with the cooling option(as i heard its neccesary) Question... i have 46L 27T and 19D to work with, however i must put a divider in because i will be running 2 amps, 1 per woofer(i dont want to blow one due to mechanical errors) So if i cut that in half i get 4.679 cubes with the port 22.25x2.75 per chamber. 35hz 4.679 without woofer displacement. Is this giong to be sufficient enough because i know it says 5-10 cubes for this woofer. Im really looking to keep the same output as my cvrs bu…

So this weekend I'm going to purchase another battery and start working on a battery rack\holder for the rear cargo area of my tahoe. I'll be running one battery there, but eventually I'll add more...A couple questions.. 1. Should I use wood to construct it? I heard MDF flexes over time? Would I be better off getting a friend who can weld to come up with something with metal? 2. It should probably be secured to something, right? I'm not sure if I want to start drilling a bunch of holes in the truck...Any ideas? 3. What are the max dimensions of a group 31 battery? 4. Anyone have any pictures of their battery setup and how it's secured? Thanks.

hello all! i just ordered my 18" FI BL driver and am working on designing a box for this beast. i figured id go big as i am leaving for basic training(US Army) in about 6 months. Im looking to take the backseat out of my jeep wrangler and replace it with a fairly large box for this woofer. iv built some smaller sealed boxes and they have all come out fine but this will be my first time building a vented box any advice that you can share would be amazing and i thank you in advance. As far as the sub goes these are the specs that FI gives for it, i measured out my jeep and got some measurements that would work, i came up with a width of 32" a height of 16"(was planning on h…

So... me and my dad are in the process of rebuilding a 1970 vw bug, and of course... i plan on putting a system into it. the main problem will be with the placement of the subwoofers, bugs are tiny vehicals with almost no extra space. we would prefer to keep a backseat but would be willing to give it up if need be. So does anyone have any ideas for a good subwoofer and somewhere to put it. money shouldnt be too much of an issue but it must be within reason... Im going for SQ but would still like it to get hella loud. i was thinking maybe 2 10in Fi SSds in a sealed box... any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. My next question isnt really fabrication but while im…

But what should the port length, width etc be? I've searched and read up on a lot of stuff and other peoples' builds, but still am not sure what do.
