Besides the obvious, what is the difference between front fire and down fire enclosures? Is it just a prefrence issue or is there a sound quality difference?

Hi, so I'm in the process of fixing up my 300zx twin turbo and am figuring out designs for sub boxes and want some advice on configurations etc. I have two re se10s I was thinking of using or Incriminator i10s on around 150rms a peice (keeping power low to avoid having to upgrade electrical and going more for sound quality over getting loud.) My issue is I want to do a box in either side of my hatch but there are some lines on the one side which makes it have a much smaller available space. My question is should I make both boxes fill up the space and have different size boxes or make them both match? I will probably stay sealed to avoid having to figure out airspace an…

I have an '04 focus Sedan and I want more midbass. I currently have some walmart pioneer 6x8s in the doors but I just bought some MLI65s and some peerless 2" fullrangers and I figured while I am taking the doors apart I should probably fix the giant holes. My doors look like this: http://www.reversestress.com/other/FocusDoorb4_293.jpg. Well not exactly, mine are red and they still have a bunch of foam on them. But anyway, my midbass sucks. How do I cover up these holes so I can better separate the back wave from the front wave? Oh, and I just bought an SAX100.4 to power them.

well tomorrow my third rl-p 18 should be here, so now i need to start doing some box planning. i have an isuzu rodeo (suv) with the back seats ripped out. im going to use the whole back portion to build the box. its not going ot be a wall though. my question is what size and tuning should i do for all three? i see the recomended 5 cubes at 27 hz for one, but im not sure if it would change for all three. by that i mean, would the optimal size be 15 cubes at 27 hz? maybe im overthinking it but it seems ike it would change due to there being multiple drivers in the same box. also, i know i can fit the box in my suv, but porting it back may not work. my back window angles in …

I have 4 12" RF Punch Z's in a sealed box. There are 4 different chambers in the box, one for each sub. (Approx 1 1/2 cuft each) I'm wanting to port this box to make it louder with PVC aero ports. My questions are: 1) Should I put a different port for each chamber/sub? or Should I take out the walls between each chamber and just port the whole box as one? 2) How big of PVC pipe will I need to effectively port the box? Id like the tuning to be as close to 30-35 hz as possible. Doesn't have to be an EXACT tuning 3) Where should I put the ports? Here's a couple pictures to help with what the box design is:

Okay this first pic is the side view. This is in my trunk and it will be set into my wheel well but will also go about 4-5 inchs above that level. My first question is; would firing my woofer into the back of my seats pose any significant problem or reduction in output? Also, can I place my port outside of the box extending into the cabin or would this potentially pose a problem?

Starting a box for a friend tomorrow. He has 2 12in kicker cvr's in a prefab box with the ports stuffed with towels because it's way to small to be ported. Lol I will be building a 5 cu box tuned at 32hz. Dimensions are 36w x26d x15h, port is 5in x 13.5in and around 26 in long. It will be 3/4, double baffled and 1in dowel braced. He doesn't have much power JLa1400 (500rms) Should be good for when he can get some real subs and a bigger amp. It's going in a Cadillac deville trunk rear facing. Opinions are welcome., although after spending about a hour making the cut sheet I am pretty set on it, lol. Can post pics during build if anyone wants to see it, should be a huge i…

  16. I am building an enclosure for my truck today. I will have 2.5^3 net before port behind my rear seat. I have a few different options available. I have a Rockford T1500.1 bd CP for power. I have already 6 Rockford P2 8"s, my plan was to do 4 ported. Would end up .5 each after port and all with a single 4" Aero Port. Would tune it around 29Hz Thoughts? Ideas?

Ok so since i have a trunk, and its a luxury car all of the bass is staying int he trunk. I cut a hole in the panel in the back and put a gril over it, and its loud enough in the cab, but i got and and listened to it yesterday and my treble is still killing my bass, i mean when you get out you can hear it but not like you should. I went back to the trunk and i could feel a nice breeze of air exscaping through the cracks. What to do, i was thinking of either cutting a bigger hole taking off the whole panel or taking out the back seat well trying to.

Hey guys. I just picked up a new RE SX 15. Its going to be powered by a Sundown 1500D in a '08 Scion xB. I need help designing the box though. RE calls for 3 cu ft minimum, 4 cu ft optimal, and I would like to tune for 32Hz, sub firing up. The sub displaces 0.18 cu ft. The dimensions I have to build the box are 38.5"x18.5"x19". The pictures below should help to visualize. If there is too much space there, I'd like to cut a couple inches off the height, and then if still too much room, a couple off the width (18.5"). Help needed! ~Trevor

i was looking up designs for front facing subwoofers/front facing ports.there was 2 designs that got me thinking......i see more people use the L-bend port on a suwoofer box .....like this and less people use a design like this im not a big box builder.....so can somebody tell me why most people use the L-bend instead of the dual chamber middle port design........is it because u get both subs working together in same chamber? and how would it change the air flow from side port to middle?

I'm thinking about building a new box for my 15" DC level 3. My current box is slot ported to the back with the sub firing up towards the trunk lid, 3.3^ft tuned to 32 hz. I was thinking about building a box firing into the cab (BMW 330CI). Im not too experienced with building boxes but think i can manage this. Has anyone here done this kind of box before and can give me any pointers?

ok i have a 2002 dodge dakota extended cab, and i was thinking of putting 4 SA-8's in the back area after taking out the back seat. i will get the D4 coil configuration and run 2 off a dsc1000.1 and the other 2 off another dsc1000.1 (each sub will get 500watts) now i have no clue how to design a box, the only other ported box i made someone else designed for me and i built it. i dunno max dimensions of the box but if you tell me how many cubes it has to be i can figure out how to make that size box fit where it needs to, also for the "easy" factor id like to use aero ports instead of a slot port design, so what size and lengh aeros would i need? and where can i buy thos…

So I've had the car a year, and after a spring break trip to Florida, I found out that it's cramped with three passengers and luggage for a week. My brother should be getting a car within two years and he wants the current set up, so I'm getting a head start on my planning LOL, ready to pull the trigger when I get the money to do so. I built my own floor for the extra battery and some storage space. The sub box currently fits across the whole trunk from the back to the break in those side pieces. I want to put together two separate boxes, each to house either an SA-8 or an SD-8, sub facing back. I still want to keep access to my spare, so the cover I made for it …
