I would like to know where I can get some MDF for a temporary/test enclosure I plan to build, I don't care how cheap or low in quality it is, since this will only be a test enclosure, I live in southern wisconsin, if you know of any stores here or any online shops that are cheap let me know. This will be for my 15" xcon for a temporary sealed enclosure for now, and after I get it in its new enclosure I will use this box for future testing purposes. i did do a quick search through the forums and I got zero results, kinda weird.

Hey guys, I just finished my box. Was all excited, i did i dry build first. just screw it in before glueing. After I built the box I take it outside only to find it doesnt wanna go in my car. YES I did measure twice and cut once, but i failed to measure the clearing distance of my trunk to slide it in. Here is the plan I went by 4cuft. at 35Hz Is there any way I can sacrifice any depth when putting this in my car? Height: 17" Width: 39" Depth: 16.25" Thanks for the input and flaming, Curt

http://cgi.ebay.com/4-0-CU-FT-CUSTOM-PORTED-BOX-fits-KICKER-CVR15-CVX15-/160554332666?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2561c8b1fa It would be going with a Sundown nightshade. I am very curious to hear what you have to say about this, being that its from ebay. But 4.0 CU. Ft. tuned to 32 hz seem perfect. I know building one will be a little cheaper but it probably wont come out as nice and would save me the headache of building one myself. But if you recommended that I just build one myself then thats what ill do.

well i was expecting a db drag. and i get there and there is like 4 judges that sat in the car to judge on overall sound. they said that my rl-p's were by far the best subs they've ever heard!!! needless to say i took first place and a $500 gift certificate to extreme motorsports. i was really wanting cash, cause i don't wanna spend any money on my car so i'll probably just end up selling it.... but either way i took first

Hi, A friend of mine who owns an Xcon15 has just built a new box for its baby monster sub. The old one was 3.5 cu ft at 32 Hz, and the new one is 3.7 cu ft at 32 Hz too. Not much more volume, the double baffle upside took quite a bit of what we expected. The new box has a kerf slot port : it's really beautiful, and was easy to do wit the design provided by Dylan. First try : got it !!! I will post pics tomorrow. Just wanted to say that the sound is different now. Don't know how to say it but it gives more low notes. We did not expect so much change!! And we love it!!! The owner had a processor(or active filter, I don't know exactly), he took it off. He turned the bass boo…

I just bought a pair of 10" dcons from Stefan on this very forum yesterday. So while they are on their way I'm looking to get a box design for them. Subs up port back. Looking for the most optimal enclosure size using what ever type of port that would work better for me (slot, aero, or pvc port that sticks out of the enclosure itself) with the dimensions I have H x W x D 13" x 28" x 17" tuned to 32hz. Thanks for the help.

Ok, so my buddy does a real decent job at painting and can do pretty decent job at detailed pictures. So what i wanna know is how can i get this type of painting onto an enclosure. Its made with MDF wood 3/4" thick if that means anything. Now im also trying to figure out how to paint this wood so it will look smooth and as less like wood as possible, which means if that cant be done then the detailed painting may not work. Anyways what i want to know is what can i do to the surface, that wont ruin sound quality, that i can paint primer or whatever onto in order to do this paint job to it? im at a complete stop here so any links or anything will help me out at this point. …

Unfortunately due to some extenuating circumstances this year's event has been POSTPONED!!!!!! The Clayton Chamber of Commerce has postponed this year's Clayton Classic Car Show. Since the show is put on in conjunction with the Classic Car Show, we have to postpone the Clayton Car Stereo Show. We will be in close talks with the Clayton Chamber of Commerce and see when they will decide on a new date for the Classic Car Show, when we get a new date for the show I let everyone know and we will try to have it then.

Hello, I am building a box for a friend and I had my MDF all ready to cut, measured out panels and everything and he calls and tells me that he want an aeroported box. I have searched and read different things in this section and after figuring out slot is actually a lot more different than aero ported, I just don't get it. So, I have come for some box designing help. Dimensions: Depth: 16 Height: 16 Width: 40 It is for an Fi X 12. Was hoping for 2.0ft^3 at 32hz I really just need to know how many flared aeroports I would need with no port noise. Diameter and Length of the aeroport would be nice. Thanks in advanced, Jay

I've always designed the box with the port on the side, but now I need it in the middle (using 2 subs). I do know that when the port splits off the port width gets halved, but is the whole length of the port mean that each side is the port length? Let's say I have a box that is 6" wide and 30" long. When it splits off each side will have a width of 3", but does each side equal 30" long? Someone also told me that you add half of the width of the port to each side of the port length. So each length would actually be 33" long. I don't know why that would work though. When I design boxes I use torres and there's a box that says "# of common port walls". I put 2 in there, …

Thought I would post this little bit of theory that I discussed with Mattdog from Neons.org tonight. I would like to see if anyone has anything to add/discuss further? Typical 4ga stranded copper wire has approximately 0.000292/ft of resistance, so for a typical 20ft run of wire to the trunk, that equals 0.00564 ohms. Pretty much negilible, the fuse will have more resistance . A battery like the Optima Yellow Top runs approximately 0.0028 ohms of resistance. Battery resistance changes with temperature, but in the case of a gel-cell deep cycle, that battery temperature will be more stable than the typical lead-acid during use. Deep cycle batteries also have less resistanc…

Alright guys, I've had these Bravox 3 ways for a while now. My wife didn't want to tear into the van until the Atlas's had died and they're on the way out. The front passenger mid has been giving the "Death Rattle" from time to time and it's getting worse, so my wife is breaking down and wanting me to begin getting the design, supplies and such together to be ready to make a quick change and build for the new set. That being said, I have some idea's about how I am going to do it, but I wanted to run it by the great minds here and see if there's a better way to go about it. First of all, here's a picture of the inside of the van to give you an idea of what I have to wor…

i was looking up designs for front facing subwoofers/front facing ports.there was 2 designs that got me thinking......i see more people use the L-bend port on a suwoofer box .....like this and less people use a design like this im not a big box builder.....so can somebody tell me why most people use the L-bend instead of the dual chamber middle port design........is it because u get both subs working together in same chamber? and how would it change the air flow from side port to middle?

I made up a few pages for port tuning, that account for port displacement, as I haven't seen anything online that offered it. Slot Port: http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portlength Aero Ports: http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portaerolength It uses the port length equation from the loudspeaker cookbook. Input: volume, port dimensions, tuning. It figures out the port length, and port volume (port length * port area). Subtracts port volume from original volume = net volume. With the found port length and net volume, it figures out the real tuning. From there it has something to start with, and starts adjusting the original tuning frequency until the net tuning…

I want to mount a Double DIN unit in my 1.5DIN dash opening. Yes, I know it is 1" taller, and I know I need to be doing some modifications. I can handle that. My problem is, the unit I want to use does not come with a cage. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qehudI3MTzg/c...550&I=257AVX706 So, I need to fabricate a way of installing the Double DIN in the dash without use of a cage. Perhaps I can use an already existing kit... and mold it into my factory stereo trim piece. The whole bezel over the stereo and HVAC controls comes off. And use a kit like this one: http://www.scosche.com/scosche_caraudio.as...&ItemID=HA1566B Mold the kit right to the bezel, then slip it in…

Hi, so I'm in the process of fixing up my 300zx twin turbo and am figuring out designs for sub boxes and want some advice on configurations etc. I have two re se10s I was thinking of using or Incriminator i10s on around 150rms a peice (keeping power low to avoid having to upgrade electrical and going more for sound quality over getting loud.) My issue is I want to do a box in either side of my hatch but there are some lines on the one side which makes it have a much smaller available space. My question is should I make both boxes fill up the space and have different size boxes or make them both match? I will probably stay sealed to avoid having to figure out airspace an…

How do i attach the fiberglass mold to the vehicle so i could remove it again if i needed to?
