First off, can I count on port end correction to lower the tuning freq of my enclosure? For example, NET Vol. = 2.6 cuft. or 4493 cuin. Port: 12.5" wide x 3.375" high X 24" long without end correction, (port length = 24") tuning = 38.58Hz with end correction, (port length = 25.6875") tuning = 37.52Hz I know 1Hz difference in tuning isn't really audible (but the end correction factor will differ in different situations i.e. port height, etc), but I want to know if the end correction factor actually exists!!!! Secondly, I'm about to build a box for one DD 9512g. DD recommends 42 in^2 port area with 22 port length with 2.6 cuft NET vol. which yields 39.97 Hz tuning …

I'm helping a friend build a box. I've done a few boxes in the past, but this one is different. This one isn't a rectangular box. He wants to, or needs to, use all of his trunk space to squeeze in 2 15" Kicker L7s. The box I designed is 6.11 cubic feet after displacement tuned to 33 hz with ~78 square inches of port. It will be braced and double baffled with 3/4" MDF. My only worry is the port being cut off by the roof of the trunk, but it's got a couple inches to breathe, so it should be fine, right? Criticism is welcome! Thanks!

    Last time i made calculations I didnt account for a few things including the end correction of my slot port. I hope somebody with a lot of enclosure knowledge can help me out with this. Port Area 126 inches2 Port Tuning 32hz Port Internal Dimensions 9” x 14” x 39.85” Port Displacement (8.25” of the port will be external)(31.6” Internal Port) 9.75” x 15.5” x 14.25” =1.24625651 cubic feet 9.75” x 15.5” x 12.1” =1.058 cubic feet 1.24625651 + 1.058 = 2.30 cubic feet + 0.18 cubic feet (Subwoofer Displacement) = 2.48 cubic feet (Total Displacement) Subwoofer Dimensions Needed (9.23 cubic feet) 36 x 15 x 35.75 = 9.231 cubic feet before displacement 9.231 – 2.48 = 6.751 cu…

  9. I've been playing with a port calculator and I find that 30 1/8"x3/4"(which just happens to be my wall thickness) holes will tune the box to a nice 30.5Hz. Now, is there any reason for NOT doing this??? Thought I might arrange them in the shape of an SSA logo for effect.

i will have 2 or 3 amps in my truck to power my speakers. I want to remove them from under the rear seat and build some type of mounting device for them. i have an 8 cubic foot box for my SP4 - could i mount the amps on the side of this box or on some wood attached to this box OR would the vibrations be less than ideal for my amps?

I was wondering if I could use metal L brackets in the inside or outside the sub box the reduce the vibration or flex? I saw the wood ones, but those take space inside the box and my box is quite small and I don't wanted any more smaller.

Okay got 4 Old ass but brand new in box, pioneer SVC 150 RMS TW-W33C subs from the local shop, for 100 bones. I figured it'd be a good start for 4 12's to mess around with. Well i built a Box the size of the Explorer XLT's cargo area. So thats 30" Deep, 40" wide, and 16" tall. (exterior demensions). Anyways made a port thats like 3" wide (give or take), and about 5" deep. Well what did I tune this thing to?? I have no theile small parameters, for the subs so it was just a shot in the dark for this project. Its almost as good as my 2 Vipers in 47hz boxes made for DD's. Anways this setup is prolly going soon. I am trying to get jcc's 4 Vega Vega 12's to put back there next.…

currently running a huge box with a fi q18 takes up the entire back seat of my truck. i love the output for the power i have and the low tuning, but it needs to come out for a carseat. i have a pair of tangband w8-740p's, single 4ohm 150wrms 8's. im thinking about building a box 1.75cu tuned to 39hz with 26.25sq of port , trying to get the most output possible. not sure how to design the box was thinking about trying a loaded horn thing like thumpper did with the icons. anyone with exsperience with these speakers or small truck boxes any imput of how i can get the most out of these 8's would be great. vehicle is 99 dakota x-cab.

so i did a quick little search, but i am a bit slow and tired and i didn't find anything. i haven't built a box before, nor helped anyone build one.. but i've pretty much decided for my first box to tune it at 32hz, and on the Fi section of the forums they recomend "1.8-2.5 cubic feet".. what does each mean, like how do i know what i prefer. basically waht i'm asking is when the box is smaller, what does that mean? tighter bass? higher notes (roughly)? what. and then it recommends 32hz, so i'm going with that.. but how do i tune it to 32hz? i don't understand how to tune it using the box. or is it a setting on the amp/sub. if you couldn't tell i've never done this before,…

Ive made my own ported boxes in the past but nothing more than a rectangular ported box with f-glass. I dont want to pay a shop to make my box, I want to build it myself. Its a 2000 grand am. Back seat obviouslly removed. I dont really understand how to do the edges and different angles. to take up ALL the space. Or do I forget angles and just do what I can. I was going to do it all in fiberglass but that is probably a stupid idea and a stupid amount of work. The only other problem is how to calculate volume with so many different angles and how to exactly calculate how to measure the bracing and port volume. If anyone has a site to direct me to that deals with Wall setu…

I have it in a box thats 39.75x 42.5 x 13.5 with a 10"x12"X42" portThe sub and port are both forward firing. I can tell the port needs to be shrunk but i was thinking of doing a 6th for it instead. Any ideas?
