SPL & SQ / Fabrication

I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe and an AA Mayhem 15 and Im trying to figure out, ideally, what size box would give me best results and what way to fire my sub and port. Can anyone tell me how to figure that out? Like different variables associated with this. I was thinking sub up port back.

i am about to attempt to build my first box for my two db drive platinum 12s and a few friends have been telling me that a down fire box would be the way to go I am wondering if it really makes any difference in the bass level or spl I also planning on porting the box but I'm not sure where the best location for the port would be I'm new to all this when it comes to fabricating an enclosure. Its going to be about a 4 cubic foot box in an extended cab s10 with the port tuned to around 32-35 hertz. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

88120 TI - D3, well really a D4 so thinking some where around 2-2.5 cu ft. @ 32hz off of ~800w rms what do you guys think? Brandon

Sooo...got a bit of a rude awakening today. Found out my e12a is actually presenting close to a 10 ohm load to the PG Tantrum 1200.1 in box - impedance rise is killing me. The sub is a 2 ohm DVC currently wired in series, and it's close to 2.5 times what I was thinking the impedance was. Pardon the extreme n00bish question, but is such a drastic rise common? It just feels a little strange running my sub at a lower impedance than my amp is rated for (if I drop it to 1 ohm), but if it models out well, hey...that's what I'll do.

Hey all. I have my Fi SSD 15 in a box right now that is tuned wayyy to high. So I was crunching some numbers for a new box. Here are the specs, can you all look over them and see if everything is correct please? 28" wide 17" tall 28" deep Port: 4.5" wide 15.5" tall 41" long Sub up port back. 3.9 cubes net, @ 31hz, 17.88 sq in of port per foot Also with that box, should an SSD 15 hit the lows pretty good?

wondering if anyone else is going to do SLAP this year, I am not sure because there are not that many shows near me, and I am tight on money to build for competition

well i had the having the box where the backseats are located at, since i barley got the car and not ready for a wall i had this thoughed in my idea has it been done before? how does it sound? any mechincal noise coming from the woofer you think? idk if i worded it correctly. its ethier my recone them to 18's or recone them to 15's i currently have 2 10's dc audio xl woofers any input you guys? no idea if its done before to be honest, is my idea a complete fail or another way to feed my goal of getting louder any input will be helpful

Hi, i have 2 offers for subs one is for 1 mt 15" quad .7 for about 300-325 and the other is for some 10" xsite D4 which i was thinking to get bout 6-8 for 28 ea. so...which should i get?? i want spl btw i dont care much bout sq... edit: i have a SAZ-1500d and planning on getting a 2nd one

Can someone help with ideas for a new enclosure? Wanting to figure out the port velocity and everything . Model everything right for this one. . Trying to get a new computer so I can do everything my self and learn everything but in the mean time need some help.

i kno this is a stupid question but whats the difference in 1/2" mdf and 3/4" mdf?is there a big difference in sound?

how does this look? Used the RE calculator and it is confusing me a little bit. It is saying 4.58ft^3 volume with 105 sq.in. of port but when i do the math I get the volume shown in the box (in the drawing)... Sayd the tuning is 42Hz~ which is exactly what I am looking for but I wanted to make sure everything is good since I am getting conflicting numbers on teh box volume... Box is for a Mach5 SPL15

Has anybody had any experience with Rear-Firing in Single Cab? I plan on doing this or downfiring. The only problem with downfiring is the max bottom depth I can do is 12.5" so the 12" sub will be on the surface of the wood just barely. I'm worried it might not be enough support because that will leave about 1/2" on both sides of the Sub Hole. (Where ever the sub will be, it will at least have 2 baffles.)

I am going to start on this project very soon so I thought I'd start planning right now.. Here is what I wanted to do.. I did not want to sacrifice my whole cargo area so I got my sub box made to take up only half of the whole cargo space so I can have half of the space to store things or whatever.. I'm having trouble designing a box for the two Dreadnauts I'm getting in April. I don't know if I should have both of them in the same box or have two so they take up less space? I would like to have them in separate box's that are taller and narrow so I can still put stuff in the back of the suv. Im in the process of a biulding a new setup which will consist of a 12in FI BL fully loaded with a Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1d. My last setup was a 12in FI Q with a Hifonics HFI1000.1d and i had a box i built myself that was 2.5 ft cubes tuned to 33hz with a 2.5 in slot port width. I had it in a chevy blazer and i could hear the air coming out of the box? How do i limit that noise so it sounds clearer? ive been hearing that the tantrum amp can actually get u put in higher power classes in some organizations because of the output at 4ohm..anybody know if this is true or not? and if so what organization does this.

Is it possible to to a T shaped slot port? I'm designing a box right now with 2 woofers and no divider. I was planning on making a L shaped slot port off to one side of the woofers, but got to thinking about putting the port in between the woofers and making it shaped like a T without a divider in the middle. No clue if this would work or if the velocity of the air coming from each side would create turbulence where they meet and make the port less efficient. I would put a divider in but I'm limited on space and a divider makes the port length longer per side and cause me to increase the size of the box to stay optimum and the dimensions are larger than I have to work wit…

I've been playing with a port calculator and I find that 30 1/8"x3/4"(which just happens to be my wall thickness) holes will tune the box to a nice 30.5Hz. Now, is there any reason for NOT doing this??? Thought I might arrange them in the shape of an SSA logo for effect.

Hi, Can anyone help me with a box for one T3 Audio TSS 15 for a 1997 Acura CL? The CL is the Acura's version of a 2 door Honda Accord. My amp is a Sundown Audio 3000D. I can use up to 4.5 cubic ft. The box needs to be for SPL. Thanks to anyone that can help me some numbers.

Alright so i posted this on an other forum but no one really had any good insignt into what they think caused the tunning of my box become so high from what I tunned it to. Alright here where Im at this is what the box looks like inside its ruffly a little over 7sq ft each side , port is 17.5 inches tall and 6" wide lenght wise its 19" then it L's with the smaller side 8.5" for a total lenght of about 28". So i was thinking i was going to be tuned to about 34hz well after I got metered turns out im at 57hz any idea where I fucked up?

I'm wanting to know if I build a box like this and would it be ok with the ports like this. It would go in a 95 honda accord 9.67ft^3 gross, 7.34ft^3 after ports, after bracing somewhere between 7 and 6.5cubes after bracing, depends on if i invert it or not thanks for any suggestions or comments
