I built my box today it is around 1.75cuft and I went ahead and sealed it. I took a old circle port out of a old box I bought and it is adjustable! I was like holy crap.. anyways I believe it is a 4" port and it adjusts from I believe 4 inches in length to around 10-12 inches. What would the length of the tubing need to be for lets say.. 30-32hz?

I am planning a box design in which I am using two 3" aero ports. The ports are supposed to be 7 inches long. My question is when using aero ports does the actual tube have to be seven inches or does the entire port assembly (flares included) need to be 7 inches?

Im using 4 4" aero ports. The box I will be mounting them to is 38"x20"x20" with an 18" sub on one side facing up. The 4 wont fit in a line since their flare is 7"+, so my question is, should I do sub in the middle with the ports on the side of the box facing back 4 in a row, or can I make a square with sub up port up, Will having 2 ports closer to the sub than the other affect anything? or will air movement be equal between the 4?

  6. Hi guys, I will be building the pre cut enclosures I calculated under RE enclosure calculator but there are a few things I would like to verify. I would like to tune the box between 33-35Hz @ 1.8-2.0 cubic ft. However, I just read that the RE calculator is not accurate. So I searched and found this website Enclosure Volume Calculator (EVC) and made the following calculations: Box Width 23 Inches Box Height 15 Inches Box Depth 15 Inches Material Thickness 0.75 Inches Number of Drivers 1 Total Total Port Volume 258.188 Inches3 -----> see calculations below: Port Width 13.5 Inches Port Height 1.5 Inches Port Depth 12.5 Inches Driver Volume …

  12. I Recently Talked to Chad Kyupers Drivers Start Shipping a week from today. While talking to him i mentioned 6cuft@29Hz, he said he had a guy do 4.5 at 30Hz and its output was INSANE with only 800w. he said 6@29 with 1200w should wang hard so im down to 2 enclosure options, both with equal port area (77sqin) only one iwth 2 ports and one with one. originally i though there was going to be no way to get the ports on the same plain as the driver, so i designed a side firing enclosure and the port a straight shot. then i came up with the idea to get the port on the same plain... see image below http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a167/CBFryman2/avatest.bmp the bottom thing…

My original box was the one recommended from ssa and it sounded good but the wife wants more space in the trunk so I have to do something different. So I need a box with less depth preferably ported still and a little longer tuned to 32hz. I don't understand how to use the box calculators I have found. Heres what I have to work with as far as area: 32"long x 16"high x minimum depth of the sub which i'm unsure of. The sub is 6" deep so I'm guessing a 1/2" more than that is minimum Basically I just need a longer less deep box that will still sound good. I listen to mainly rap/hiphop and some d&b. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am quickly becoming overwhelmed trying to plan a box for my BTL. I want to rebuild, as my current box is water damaged and pretty ugly at that; not to mention, it's tiny; 5cu @ 34 before displacement, and the port is small as well, 4" x 15.5" (it was free with my woofer) My max dimensions are 34"x26"x23", and i'm aiming for a pretty low tuning, thinking 28-30hz, I like a lot of slowed music, Decaf, etc. I have a local builder, but I haven't seen any of his work in some time, so I'd feel better walking in with a design in hand, and simply having him make the cuts and assemble it. It'll end up in an SUV, so I'm thinking sub up port back, same as my current box. Would…

My brother is getting an IDQv3 12" sub. Going to be powered by an arc audio 600w amp. Down the road he's going to get another sub and another amp to match. Our budget is drained so I'm going to attempt to build the box. I wanted to go ahead and build a dual 12" ported box tuned at 30Hz. and just use one side for now. Any recommended web sites and pointers would be greatly appreciated. Some questions I have are what's the best to hold the box together. Pre Drilled hole and screws, or staples, or glue, or all the above. Round port vs. rectangular. Which direction to aim the port. Should I aim subs toward the back glass tilted slightly up.

Hey all.Im going to be getting a different enclosure and im wondering how big it needs/should be.I have 4 10" DC lvl 3 subs with lvl 4 upgrades.Ive been doing some thinking and I think i can move my batteries and have room for a bigger enclosure. The max deminsions I could use would be 32W x 19H x 40D.My goal is to hit 150db and I just cant do that with my current enclosure.I know the deminsion I gave are probaly to big for the 4 10's so thats why I was wondering how big I should make it.I would like the entire enclosure to be double baffled and I would like to use aero ports.I have always liked aero ports but I have never had a enclosure with them.I would like the enclosu…

I want to try out a transmission line box or quarter wave, whatever its technically called, and want to know if im off to a good start... I want to use a 10" Fi BL Dual 1 so 41.5fs with an sd of 310cm^2 = 48in^2 1130/41.5/4*12 = 81.7 inches... so my design looks something like this... I dont know much about these kind of boxes it just sounds like a fun project, If it turns out horrible I only lose a few hours and a little off my wood stockpile...What do you guys think about this design and these measurements?

  21. There are 2 drivers in each side wall that would acoustically, i assume, act as port length. So, if that's true, does leaving just the opening in the back act as length of the side walls which is ~25" long? also, i've never had the time to question these types of designs but does anyone have anything negative to say about drivers in the side wall like that? I've seen pretty much all different kinds of setups throughout the years and this particular one is not new either. I just don't understand what actually is going on when the front wave of these side wall drivers interacts with the port(2nd question).

Does port/woofer aiming really matter that much in an SUV? I'm looking at placing the box in the passenger rear corner with the woofer firing cross cabin and port forward.
