in the quest for possibly the best SQ to our ears, proper install would always be needed, proper positioning and aiming etc... but on the midbass install part on doors, sometimes we feel something still is lacking... even though we have done all the possible deadening etc needed. and ending up in trying to fit an 8" on the doors. modifying the door moldings and cutting through the metal sheet... Question is... is it worth it? destroying some parts the your car used as daily driven just for the midbass sound were looking for?

how does this look? Used the RE calculator and it is confusing me a little bit. It is saying 4.58ft^3 volume with 105 sq.in. of port but when i do the math I get the volume shown in the box (in the drawing)... Sayd the tuning is 42Hz~ which is exactly what I am looking for but I wanted to make sure everything is good since I am getting conflicting numbers on teh box volume... Box is for a Mach5 SPL15

I have an '04 focus Sedan and I want more midbass. I currently have some walmart pioneer 6x8s in the doors but I just bought some MLI65s and some peerless 2" fullrangers and I figured while I am taking the doors apart I should probably fix the giant holes. My doors look like this: http://www.reversestress.com/other/FocusDoorb4_293.jpg. Well not exactly, mine are red and they still have a bunch of foam on them. But anyway, my midbass sucks. How do I cover up these holes so I can better separate the back wave from the front wave? Oh, and I just bought an SAX100.4 to power them.

alright, so i have a FI Bl 15" with, cooling, daily, universal d1. I am planning on building a new box because my current box only takes up 1/2 of my trunk which is in fact bad. Due to the trunk and how it is made there are two metal bars coming across the length of my trunk, and it makes my sub box aprox. 1 foot away from my trunk lid, which i think lessens the well initial BOOM, when i had my MTX JH55's in they sounded much louder when they were pushed back so i thought well "why the hell not build my own box" here are the specifications, i even made a pretty picture for you guys. ports from eD. (made in Google Sketchup!) Ideas, comments, suggestions? (some insight from…

Just trying to figure all of this out. One site says figure your tuning dependant on port length, others say by width and height of port (square inches of port area). So what's the verdict? I have 2 SSA Xcon 18's wanting them in a 6.5 cuft (each) box tuned at 31 hz. Also, what is the difference sound quality and SPL wise between having one large port or a seperate port for each sub?

What's the best way to figure out the displacement for each one of these? They will be about 15.75" long & 1.5" in diameter. I used them on the last build I did for the blazer, and they held strong, and were easy to use. So I'm thinking of using them again with my next one. Thx for the help.

  12. The box is for a pair of DC Level 4 18's in the back of a 2007 Suburban with all seats in, including the third row.I have the following for outer dimensions to work with: 27 x 49 x27 Now my drawing shows a height of 26 1/2, but I'm only counting the height at 25 3/4 in the Box Calc program because the top board was double baffled. I'm seeing a box tuning at 33hz. Here is my other design, this one is pretty much the same as the first except for both subs and port firing up. What do you guys think? Box Design: I think I still like the whole port and subs up design better. My current box is a dual chambered double slot ported box. Each chambered tunned to 32hz. Has anyone…

  13. I'm assuming if i had one of those woofer testers to pull the T/S parameters of a speaker, it would pull different specs if i took a single DVC subwoofer and tested it wired in series, then tested it again in parallel. Well, i dont have one so i'm gonna rely on those experienced here to relay some info to me. I will be using 4 subwoofers, 2 subwoofers per amp. Each pair of subs are dual 1 ohm. I have 2 ways of wiring this- 1 - Parallel both subs then series them to the amp 2 - Series both subs then parallel them to the amp Is there a difference in SPL potential between the 2? this info is pertaining to a meter, not the ear. I notice when looking at specs of subs, in gener…

I'm trying to figure out my next box. The program I'm using is tells me that my port will be 5Tx10Wx17.5D. Now how much of an effect will it have if I was to change the opening to 3.5Tx11.5Wx17.5D?? I'm looking to tune it to 34Hz. Thx from the help.

in a 4th order bandpass, is it generally better to have the magnet in the ported section or the sealed section of the box? it seems like you would get added cooling from having it in the ported side, but would the motor obstruct airflow to the port?

is there any discernible difference between a square port and a circular port. I'm thinking about using a circular port tube from somewhere like Elemental designs. Mainly due in part to my lack of knowledge and how to build a ported enclosure.

I have 2 AQ SDC2.5 with an AQ1200D amp. I have a 5 Cube box for them now but due to the fact that it wasnt planned out very good the box in crap and is all but falling apart now. I came up with another design but im not sure how well this will work. The subs call for 2.5 cubes a piece but with my new design it will be around 2.2 cubes a piece and the subs would be pointing pretty much up. I know that these are not ideal conditions for the subwoofers however how much do you think this would effect the overall sound. This is it any comments plz.

  22. Never used allthread in a high pressure install so need some small tips in this area. I know that when allthread is ran from one side to another that washers and nuts are used on both sides of a wall. So that means 1 run of allthread will have 4 washers and 4 nuts on it. What kind of washers and nuts am i suppose to use inside of the box to prevent them from coming loose? I looked at nylon lock nuts but i cant use those on the inside because to get the nuts on the inside, you have to roll em on before you slide the allthread through the other wall. So, roll nut one way then back the other way to lock in place... nylon nuts appear to only roll in one direction so i dont k…

I am going to start on this project very soon so I thought I'd start planning right now.. Here is what I wanted to do.. I did not want to sacrifice my whole cargo area so I got my sub box made to take up only half of the whole cargo space so I can have half of the space to store things or whatever.. And then I realized that I have no place to mount my kicker 2500.1 which is a fairly large amp so I decided that I would want to build a false floor with plexiglass on the other half of the cargo space in front of my subwoofer box.. (as of now my amp is sitting on my rear seat folded down (i definitely do not like it at all and I do not want to mount my amp on the sub box as …

Hey Y'all, im new to this (Forum) well im in the market for some new subs and dont have a big multi thousand dollar budget becouse im only 17 and am working on a farm this summer, well any way i was looking at some Alpine 15"s and was doing some measuring/planning and ive come to realize that i dont have enough or much room in the trunk of my 89' ford thunderbird so im just going to stick with 12's and after seeing/hearing vid's on youtube of the Fi SSD's they sound like some pretty good/stout subs for the money. well i was noticeing that the subs have a rateing of 800 wrms and im guessing the maximum would be around 1,600-1,800 watts but ive been told these subs can hand…
