Hi, I need help with a spl box in a sedan. My car in a Acura cl 97 the seats do not let down but there is a 7 by 10 hole where the arm rest lets down. My subwoofer is a T3 audio tss 15 with one Sundown a Audio saz3000d pushing it. What is the best setup, sub firing to the back with port to the back, maybe sub firing up with port to the rear. I'm 39 years old an have been out of spl for years but I miss all the fun. I donot want to be in the way at shows so can you guys help my with a design that may work. The car will be use for spl music. Thanks for any help.

Here is the car and the current sub : He's planning adding one more woofer and competing in espl, something similar to bass race (track chosen by the judges). Basically, I'm looking for some ideas on woofer and port orientation from the ones that have some spl experience Right now his top score is 144db @ 36hz, db-drag style, using a single 3kw Ground Zero 1.3000 and one 15inch 4hp clone by Ground Zero (Plutonium 15). Final gear will be 2 subs and 2 Atomic 5000.1's. What port and woofer orientation ideas do you guys have ? Even some tips would be really nice

My buddy had talked to me about building a box for his F-150 for 2 12" Xplods. Looking around I think it may be possibly to get 5 Cuft. (or very close) for the 2 12s. behind the seat I was curious what is the best way to face the ports and sub. I think the only way to face the the ports is up, but I do have the option of either down facing them down or foward. What is generally best practices for SPL?

Ok so they have these so called SPL subs right like Re's new MT or treo's CSX right, ok so i was looking at them and then was told they were no for everyday listening.... ..What the hell does that mean, to me it makes it seem like if i'm not giving it a constant tone or something, the sub will mess up, dont really see how but thats what it seems like, now if they meant that it would be to loud for everyday listening...i'm game, that just means my car would be one loud SOB...just kinda stumped on this not for everyday listening thing...

ok so i woke up today with spl on the mind, i called my local stereo shop that i once worked at, i requested a termlab run, the man told me it had not been used in 4 years, and didnt know how to use it even if it worked, he was worried about the mic, he said that maybe it had to be adjusted, or tuned, i dont know anything about that, but it said it could take weeks, i wanna see where im at on the scale, im also intrested to know where i would be at in SPL class, i have a car with a trunk and thats where the subs are at!.. no none walled, saz 3000d 3 yellow tops and 2 15's and my system sounds better with the windows down... is that outlaw? i dont know much about …

Not owning a meter I have not gotten to do much testing. My SPL comp runs have been as much for testing purposes as for fun. I have done 3 testing sessions not in comps. and the 1st 2 were in between comp runs for 20-30 mins each and then yesterday I finally got a chance to do some rigoris testing for a few hours. Here's what I learned helps my TC get louder: 1. a. Passenger seat all the way forward as if some one was getting in back seat of my 2 door, a funny thought cuz I made my car a 2 seater with a massive enclosure. b. The back of the seat all the way forward. I have a pic. of this if any1 is having a hard time visualizing, but its a common practice with db-dragg…

Alright.. So I thought the first time Id be going to be metered was gonna be in July at my first dbdrag competition.. BUT, my local car audio shop is having a grand re-opening with spl meter readings.. Prizes are being given but its more for fun, I really need to get going and run this 0 gauge and install my 2nd battery, iv only got 4 days! Anyways, just wondering if there are 'general' rules to get the best number out of your car. Im running a trunk car, already know my cars peak which helps. Iv heard things like keeping your seats all the way forward helps.. ect. Im sure its different for every car, but I want to show my best at my first time on the meter.

Got a question: Noticed that spl meters seem to have a simple pressure sensor in them. Does anyone know the formula to convert SPL to PSI? If so, I may just make a home brew SPL meter to test changes made. I have a 3-bar map sensor sitting around which can read the barometric at first for calibration, then anything after that. Or am I way off base here?

I just got a set of Dynaudio 240GT (MSRP 975$). Before I install them I was would like the best option for imaging. Is there a rule of thumb to tweeter placement (the woofer is going in the stock door location) but the stock Toyota tundra tweeter placement is high in the door, IMO the only place worse is the top of the dash. I don

I'm gonna be trying a lot of things and reporting what does and doesnt work. Unfortunately, i can't post back everything as the wall and corners have already been made. What i will be focusing on is head unit settings, amp settings, port area, port length, port angle, car seal jobs, car bracing, car mods, internal box coating, etc... As of right now, i did discover something rather interesting- The difference between playing a sine wave vs a square wave on the meter using a TLab. At low volume, a got a reading of 140.2 using a sine wave. At the same volume, i got a reading of 142.1 using a square wave. Now, when ran full tilt and clipped- SQUARE wave- 147.2 SINE wave - 14…

Looking for ideas based on experience! My shop has a 1998 Chevy extended cab being used for SPL competing in USACI Modified. We will be using four AddictiveAudio V4 15" woofers with roughly 12,000 watts rms. My question is how should the enclosure be built for max spl? Just looking for ideas here.. we are stuck at 157.6 db on the term-lab at drivers kickpanel.

As most of you know i am doing an imc plan for an audio enclosure company. During my research i read that cars equipped for SPL cannot play normal music. I want to know if that is true. I need to do a a technolgy review and i want to mke sure i know the difference between systems designed for SPL vs systems designed for SQ.

I have a Acura Integra Integra GSR, a ED 9.1 Amp, and a RL-P D4. I'm competing in the IASCA competition at the Nopi Nationals this year in Atlanta. I need help designing a box. People have told me I need a big box with alot of port area, and some people say I need a small box. So I'm confused and have no clue what to go with, I can't seem to find ANY information about any SPL box designs anywhere, out of a number of forums. If someone could help me, even with a roundabout guess of how big and how much port area I need, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I believe the resonant freq of my car is around 58 Hz, which I'm told is a good thing, I know how to tune the box and ever…

I am currently designing a box for a DD9512g which will be on a SAZ 2500D. I wanna tune to 36-37 Hz with about 2.5-2.6 net volume. My question is: What has greater potential increase of SPL. A lower port mach or more port area? Thanks!

So I have two 21" dp's and I am wondering, what is a good rule of thumb for port area on a spl box? As far as square inches per cubic ft? I have never done a spl setup. And I am planing on doing two slot ports for spl and plugging one for daily use. And would 10 square inches per cube too small for daily beating? Also may try something like four areos to keep down on internal space.
