Alright, so i'm building a box for my 15" Q My problem is the max hieght i can get out of my trunk is 16". My question is that my front plate after being cut out for the sub only leaves 3/16" on each side. Being that the front plate is 14.5" tall. Will it be enough to support the sub itself or will this rob its structural integrity? I would like to advoid slanting or angling the front plate to fit it in.

I have two alpine type r 12's and i want to build a crx-style box for them. This is the design i came up with using the max dimensions i can inside my vehicle. I really can't seem to get the tuning quite right, and it says its about 30hz, but what is the ideal frequency to tune to for daily driving? Also any helpful hints to getting this box to stay together? I blew the port off the screws in my bandpass like two weeks ago. EDIT: And yes the subs are going to go on the top.

I have a Dodge Journey that I want to put 2 SX 12s in. (By the way, only have one right now, need another. Put the word out, D2) I want to have the 'right' box for it. Not one that a experienced builder can demo and know quickly that it's a crap build. I have been reading the available threads on what makes a vented box a 'good' vented box. But to honest, it seems pretty complicated. I am not a fluid dynamics student. But I am trying to learn. It is hard to narrow down my music style. It's 50/50 between hard rock like Metallica and such, and also rap/hip-hop. I know that doesn't make it easy. It will be running on a solid 2300wrms. I have the whole back available for the …

Im getting two Mach5 MAW-15's and I noticed that the qts was .32 I think. So I guess I will put them in a ported enclosure tuned to 32hz. Does that sound okay? How big should the box be for the two of them? around 6ft^3? Thanks ~MadroX

So I have two 21" dp's and I am wondering, what is a good rule of thumb for port area on a spl box? As far as square inches per cubic ft? I have never done a spl setup. And I am planing on doing two slot ports for spl and plugging one for daily use. And would 10 square inches per cube too small for daily beating? Also may try something like four areos to keep down on internal space.

Hey guys Im currently out in pursuit of the rookie1 world record in Iasca IDBL format.. I'm using 3 8'' mtx 5500 running them off a sundowns 1500d with a optima d34 up front.. Im limited to port area, 14 per sub so I'm basically playing with 42sq inches.. My current port is 39sq inches and Im doing a 140.1db on the audiocontrol meter.. In my class Im not allowed to use test tones so Im using tracks like 36 mafia-slob on my knob.. Is there any ideas yall could give me to bring my score up? I'm thinking of re-building my box to give each sub 1cub of space each with a solid 42 sq inches of port. Maybe try 45 degree fillers and fiberglass the inside of the box with external…

K, box dimensions are 35x32x16 externally. Internally this gives me roughly 8.57Cubes. I want to port this to 34hz or so, and i need a min area of 6 cubic feet after displacements, is this possible? I also need to know how many sq inches of port i should need. I am just going to run out and grab 2 sheets of MDF right now so any help would be wonderful. The only confusing part is that the RE calculator keeps giving me ridiculous port lengths when removing the second portion of the L to make it a square. Any port dimension recommendations would be wonderful. Thanks in advance. Chris

Okay so ive been doing loads of research on parts-express and so forth on finding a sub for a 1974 MGB. I really only want something super small and getting something for better sound quality than just two 6.5's in the doors. Behind the seats is a bit of space but want to keep mostly the stock look. However, there is a compartment where a second battery used to sit that is no longer there and I think I could find a small box in there. I measured the dimensions and can get about .15-.18 cuft gross airspace without making anything look out of the ordinary. I havent found much for the 8 inch woofers or subs that will suffice in that airspace, however there are various o…

I been going back and forth about taking my rear seats out my crew cab silverado. The idea that i have if i remove the seats completely, is to build a enclosure/amp rack that rear passengers can still sit on and still be comfortable. I was thinking about covering both in some type foam and vinyl...have this been done before and would it work?

well since i put in the 2 15" BL's on the sundown 3000d, i have NO windshield flex, a little roof flex which is no biggie, but the worst is the doors...the body panels are so thin and theres just a single support bar inside it, which flexs with it against the body panel. i put Great stuff foam and peel & seal. i know peel and seal isnt real deadener, but ive used it before and itll deaden sound for sure, maybe not as good but itll do the job. well it did hardly nothing. what would solve it is fill the whole door with expanding foam but that isnt an option, becuase i obviously need the windows to go up and down. any ideas? pics of my door panels should be in the wall t…

Ok, I have done the measurments for my truck and i should be able to fit 2 10" icons in my truck. They will be in a 2.5ft^3 box after driver and port displacement. I used the calculator at carstero.com and it says that i need a ~8" diameter port for the box tuned to 30 hz. Would that be a suitable frequency for that size box? If so the only opitions for port size is a single 5" port 27" long, or two 4" ports at 20" long? The single port will be on the driver side firing into the side of the cab, and the 2 ports will be on either side of the box. Will ports that small be choaking(spell check) the air flow, or will they be fine? im leaning towards the 2 4" ports though…

I have read a lot on the subject, but I can't get a final answer. Like a lot of people in my country (we have small cars), I have limited space in my trunk, but still want to use a ported box. I've read that round ports can make me save space. But I don't understand how. The same rules should apply : 12-16 sq inch of port area per ch ft. What can I expect for a 3.5 cu ft box ? I would like to make a smaller box so that my amps can breathe Thanks
