Ok, I have done the measurments for my truck and i should be able to fit 2 10" icons in my truck. They will be in a 2.5ft^3 box after driver and port displacement. I used the calculator at carstero.com and it says that i need a ~8" diameter port for the box tuned to 30 hz. Would that be a suitable frequency for that size box? If so the only opitions for port size is a single 5" port 27" long, or two 4" ports at 20" long? The single port will be on the driver side firing into the side of the cab, and the 2 ports will be on either side of the box. Will ports that small be choaking(spell check) the air flow, or will they be fine? im leaning towards the 2 4" ports though…

Most of you know that there was another vehicle added to the fleet. 1999 GMC burban. Now the old 97 DUBurban had a massive 8ft^3 enclosure in it and housed 2 Brahma 15's. 4000W amp running them. Well this time its all about saving space and keeping everything stealth. My plan is to flip the spare tire around and glass the inside of the rim. Then i'll glass a mdf enclosure onto that so i can get my needed air space. Right now ive got only 4" of cargo area taken up by the enclosure because its to tall and wide. Sub will be my 12.o.44 sealed running off of my autotek 5600X. Bro will be doing the glassing work since he has the experience. No idea when this will all take place…

I have heard that mounting a 15" subwoofer (btl) in a car will be louder, or at least shake more, if it is facing up rather than back. does anyone have any experience or insight on this topic?

ok so i built a box for my new nightshade 18. it is just under 5 cubic feet before sub displacement but after port displacement. it is tuned to 31 hz b4 the sub. it sounds great. my question is if the port area is too small. the re calculator that i used said that the square port area was 55.5. idk if this means inches or what but im guessing inches. the sub performs great at higher frequencies but the lows are kinda lacking compared to the 18" fi q that i had before. any info would be great. also if somebody would be willing to design me an optimal box that would be great too. my dimensions are 36" wide 22" tall and 20" deep. sub and port would have to be facing up. i li…

Hi guys, I'm about to start on my first build. I've got a temp. sub that has been laying around for a while that I want to use until i get some money saved up to rebuild. It's a sonly Xplod 12 (I know) it'll be running off a rockford fosgate 300.1 in a trunk. I'd like to have the tuning somewhere around 28hz-32hz.. I'm not sure how the driver will like it so i'll let you guys tell me what ya'll think. It'll be going in a 2002 Buick Regal trunk. The demensions are: W=45", L=45", H=21.5". Those are the max demensions. If you guys need any more information just feel free to ask. The subwoofer model is: XS-L120P5W

I been going back and forth about taking my rear seats out my crew cab silverado. The idea that i have if i remove the seats completely, is to build a enclosure/amp rack that rear passengers can still sit on and still be comfortable. I was thinking about covering both in some type foam and vinyl...have this been done before and would it work?

POLYURETHANE FOAM the reason im writeing about foam when im talking about fiberglass, is that you can make mold's out of thing's. just fiberglass over it then get some acetone and it will eat the foam and keep your fiberglass mold. they have 2pt. polyurethane foam that is equal mixing self-rising foam. most 2pt. will start foaming around 45 second's after you mix the two, and will go for a few minute's after. now it will expand around 25-30 time's it's liquid form. unlike polyester foam, polyurethane foam it's compatible wth both polyester resin and epoxy resin. (which mean's you can paint the resin on and it wont evaparate) now they have polyurethane foam sheet's allread…

I have a Dodge Journey that I want to put 2 SX 12s in. (By the way, only have one right now, need another. Put the word out, D2) I want to have the 'right' box for it. Not one that a experienced builder can demo and know quickly that it's a crap build. I have been reading the available threads on what makes a vented box a 'good' vented box. But to honest, it seems pretty complicated. I am not a fluid dynamics student. But I am trying to learn. It is hard to narrow down my music style. It's 50/50 between hard rock like Metallica and such, and also rap/hip-hop. I know that doesn't make it easy. It will be running on a solid 2300wrms. I have the whole back available for the …

Finally picked up a few sheets of MDF to play with to make my explorer box, what should the minimum port area be for 2 15inch RE SX's? So far i have messed around with the RE box tool and came up with a 6.1 Cube box tuned to 34.7hz with a port area of 74square inches. My available measurements seem to be 41 inches wide(before wheel well bumps), 18 inches deep, and i don't want to reach over 20 inches high on the height. If anyone can throw some suggestions at me for the area of port needed or maybe a box design they have used in their explorer it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Did a 145.6 with one zcon 15 on 3000 watts so hoping I can brake 150 .......either 12s or 15s will have same amp. Thinking bc5500 or somewhere in the 5-6k range. Alright, so i'm building a box for my 15" Q My problem is the max hieght i can get out of my trunk is 16". My question is that my front plate after being cut out for the sub only leaves 3/16" on each side. Being that the front plate is 14.5" tall. Will it be enough to support the sub itself or will this rob its structural integrity? I would like to advoid slanting or angling the front plate to fit it in.

  17. Never used allthread in a high pressure install so need some small tips in this area. I know that when allthread is ran from one side to another that washers and nuts are used on both sides of a wall. So that means 1 run of allthread will have 4 washers and 4 nuts on it. What kind of washers and nuts am i suppose to use inside of the box to prevent them from coming loose? I looked at nylon lock nuts but i cant use those on the inside because to get the nuts on the inside, you have to roll em on before you slide the allthread through the other wall. So, roll nut one way then back the other way to lock in place... nylon nuts appear to only roll in one direction so i dont k…

I have two alpine type r 12's and i want to build a crx-style box for them. This is the design i came up with using the max dimensions i can inside my vehicle. I really can't seem to get the tuning quite right, and it says its about 30hz, but what is the ideal frequency to tune to for daily driving? Also any helpful hints to getting this box to stay together? I blew the port off the screws in my bandpass like two weeks ago. EDIT: And yes the subs are going to go on the top.

I been going back and fourth for the past few weeks about doing a enclosure to go under the rear seat in my truck. I entered my measurements in the enclosure calculator on the12volt. and i came up with 4.7 cubic ft but it have the transmission hump thats right in the center of the floor and i dont know how to subtract that from the total that i got from the enclosure calculator....do you guys think and enclosure like this would work with a external port? Im still looking around for some good 10's that would work with 1 cubic ft or less

Hey guys I was wondering if I could get some help for a box design. I messed up my first design as my box fits inside my car but I FORGOT to measure the opening of my trunk to put the box in which doesn't allow it to slide right in. I am coming to you guys for a design for the Fi 15" BTL. And the car I have is a 95 Honda Accord. Max width I will go is 35" and the height will 16.5". Was looking for maybe 4 cubes of space @ 35Hz. I would really appreciate the help and thanks in advance! -Curt
