I have been doing lots of searching for detailed information on exactly how this is done and the safety issues wih doing this and have not found anything worth mentioning so let me lay out what i think would work and see what you guys think? To do so i would assume you would need the following- PSU with single 12v rail. PSU with 12v rail output equal or greater than the fuse rating on the amp. Cut off ALL 12v wires going into connectors and splice them all together to form the rated 12v output ready to connect to Power input on amp. Do the PSU trick so u can turn on and off the PSU via kill switch in the back. If all of this is true, then i have a couple questions. 1- Mos…

I am trying to learn and since i have nothing to tell me whether i am understanding anything i "Assume" to be true or not, i need guidance, hehe. We all know what a disk array is, a backplane, etc....I want to build my own and have the edge that it will be cheaper compared to it's expandability potential. I need it to be standalone so lets start from scratch and fill me in on anything here. I will acquire a case with many 5.25 external bays for the purpose of using backplanes. Found an awesome deal for a backplane that uses 3 bays for 4 SATA drives for under $100 with great reviews so it's sold me on that. Now, without a motherboard required, i install a PSU that is stron…

Man, i've been doin so much research on this when i have time my head is about to explode so i am going to see if you guys share the same thoughts as what i'm seeing and reading. I had a 51" Hitachi rear projection tv. I am replacing it with a lcd or plasma of at least 50" but am wanting to stay below $1200 or around that since this is an unexpected purchase for myself. I have researched 720 vs 1080 and from what i see... unless i primarily watch blu ray movies or if i am sitting very close to the tv(i usually sit about 8-9ft away), 720 is the way to go since there would then be no visual difference and it's cheaper. The only thing they say is make sure it can accept 108…

Found this on another forum, should be very cool. 13. So, almost two months ago, i bought a brand new Dell PC. I recently got a job after graduating college, so i figured i'd get a good one (for what i use it for, im not into gaming), since for the first time in my life, i had the money to spend. I got 4 Gb of RAM, the new Intel Quad Core processor, 500 Gb Hard drive, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers, etc... the total cost was a little over $1300. Until two weeks ago, i did not have internet, so i didnt really use the computer, just dicked around since it was new. Once i got the internet, i used the regular ole' Internet Explorer, and at least once, each time i used the internet, it would lock up and i would have to li…

I cannot find these ANYWHERE!!! I own a Klipsch Promedia 5.1 surround sound pc system. They are discontinued now and the BASH 500w amp on the back of the sub box is screwed up. IT only wants to play the subwoofer instead of the rest of the channels and apparently is a known issue from some results i've seen. Well, i wanted to just replace the amp whether it be plate\the exact same amp plate or just a 5.1 surround pc amp period! The problem is... they appear not to be sold on the market, correct? How am i to go about getting an amp to power the speakers i have that still work? I don't feel like sending the unit back, i just want to do it myself. I even looked at other 5.1…

I've created a test track and a sweep track for anyone to test their system. On another video I'm holding a video contest where members would post a video of their system playing one of the two tracks available. You can download the track here: http://hosted.filefront.com/quakecitystudio/ And, if you can post a video of your system playing the song!

I've always thought about doin this so i don't have to keep replacing dvd players to hd players to blu ray players to whatever else comes out next. The capability of playing back movies on a pc that only needs the right ROM drive is cheaper than buying a whole new home unit. Plus the fact that the home theater pc can do a LOT more things than a home unit player can. I want some people's feedback on some features that they think would be cool or necessary to make it perfect for using it as intended. Thermaltake is pretty set on home theater cases. Gotta have a remote with a readable screen on front. Without that, it's a pain in the ass. So other words- it has to look ju…

I can get a 2500 watt inverter for $100, but really don't think I need that beast in my truck just to power a few hard drives and computers. I can get a 500watt inverter for $35 but it might have a lighter adapter instead of terminals. Can I cut the wire to a lighter adapter and directly connect it to a battery terminal?
