tire size is 205-45 r17, at least h speed rated. looking for all season, prefer treadwear over performance, though performance can't be mushy. run flats aren't needed and budget is about $400 at this time. i have a hook up for most brands, so budget doesn't need to be spot on. current tires considering are.. falken ze912 kumho ecsta ast yokomaha prada spec 2 and in that order as well. yay or nay? what would you buy and why? thanks folks! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Purpose: To purchase a vehicle 1-3 years old so I'm not the one who has to swallow the bulk of the depreciation; to purchase a vehicle that is comfortable for monthly (at minimum) 1200 km trips on the highway (through lots of snow in the winter). Narrowed it down to: Cadillac CTS w/ 3.6L Dodge Charger R/T w/ 5.7L Both rated similarly in terms of gas mileage and I would make use of the MDS on the Dodge. Love the comfort of the Cadillac but the interior is a little plain. The Charger makes me feel a little younger and the extra 100hp is attractive, albeit fuel consuming. Tough choice. Thoughts, opinions, experiences? Would love to hear what you guys have to say - especi…

i was on my way to meet my buddy for breakfast today, and stopped at a stoplight. I looked ahead and saw that they closed the right lane off (i was in the left). So this older 99-05 grand am pulls up next to me, and as the light turns green, the guy speeds off. no knowing that he wanted to pass me up and cut ahead of me, i had a normal start. when i see the guy speed ahead about 10 ft ahead of me, i floor it. this is like a good 1/8-1/4 mile strip of open road. I thought i was gonna catch up, but nope we stayed about the same distance away from each other. when i saw that i wasnt going anywhere i slowed down and he cut ahead. seeing that i have a 5.0 HO v8, vs the…

Here's the build log for the Camaro. I was a little hesitant at first because this is my first major mechanical project. I'm replacing all bushings in the front suspension with poly bushings, converting to power front disc brakes, switching to Hotchkis springs, and replacing all brake lines with stainless. I started on this last week, and I've gotten to the point where everything that needs to come off is off. Here are some pics of things so far. What I started with: Goodbye spindle/drum (I'd just like to say that the most useful tool in this whole thing is an air hammer with pickle fork attachment. Those ball joints were original and did not want to let go): No …

A friend owns a 2006 VW Jetta. It has the factory 6 disc changer head unit that raises/lowers the volume automatically. But, it's messed up. And does it whenever it feels like. It has become real annoying. Is it possible to disable that feature and if so, how?

I have been thinking about how I will work on my 98 expedition, and now that I put my deck in i'm getting nervous about theft. I had planned on throwing in speakers, but recent life events really put a crunch on funds and time. I just got done with the bulk of the tragedy but I still have some time before I can come back fiscaly. Which is why I want security for my vehicle. I actualy have it parked in a security monitered area at work now and in a high high traffic place. No more work theft I think, and it's parked outside my bedroom window at home, but I'm still skeptical if I end up somewhere else. I currently have a system of when I remove my face plate I have a …

On Feb. 2nd, 1992, a brand new sand / mocha colored Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 joined the family. This may be my fair well to a terminally ill old friend. Over the years the Mocha Monster had many little changes and tweaks (engine/suspension/exhaust/system the list goes on). I passed my drivers test in her with a perfect score, while all the other people in line in their rinky compacts failed to repeat that glorious performance. She has safely carried me for over 215k miles, and has covered every eastern state as well as most central states. Hauled countless soccer and ultimate frisbee players to endless tournaments in all weather at all hours, only faultering once. A …

Thanks to Xtremekustomz (Other message board) for turning me onto this website. I have to admit I hadn't heard of many of their products other than Mother's and Meguairs when I went there. But I went and got the stuff he recommended to keep the car looking it's best and not causing any swirl marks, scratches, haze, etc during washing, drying and detailing. Well I just finished washing my car today for the first since I got the paint color sanded to remove all the swirl marks, scratches and much of the factory orange peel, with all of the products I ordered. The products left the best finish I have ever had on any car

For the requests from a few on my equpment posting to show it, heres a few shots of my marquis... Keep in mind its been in this tent shed for quite the while now. The messyness under the hood is just due to it being a test setup for the engine im building this year for the charger. Still runs great even though its a messy bish under the hood. The stripes were added earlier this year, the pics with out are a little less then a year old. Looks like brand new inside and out and underneath. No rust... Not bad for being in ontario canada. lol

long story short, my bros car is breakin down, hes leaving in a few months, he drive my car for a while, i get a new car. when bro gone, daddy drives my old car. Well ive decided to get a 94 crown victoria, and stuck between two cars 1. Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor $1500 and 164k miles http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...&cardist=22 2. Ford Crown Victoria LX Sedan $1900 103k miles http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?rdpa...&cardist=29 I like the way the white one looks much better than the blue one, its cheaper, and a "police interceptor" but the drawback is the mileage. I looked up both on carfax and both seem to check out good. my one o…

Alright So as of the past 2 months I've been having really odd electrical issues. Like my voltagge wouldnt stay up and like my battery would die quite often. So i drive over to a friends and we change my alternator and throw the battery from his blazer in and everything was good. Well I got my system in and I was getting sick of having no bump!!!! So i throw my yellow top back in (biggest POS in my eyes) and everything was fine... Up until last week. I was driving home and i looked down at my factory volt gauge and i noticed it was hovering around 12 volts. So i was like oh sh*#. I push the gas more so the tranny will downshift and get more rotation on the alternator. Doe…

This isn't for me, obviously but a friend of mine has an early 4Runner that has some headliner with some major self-esteem problems. It's not typical carpet either, it's more like a closed-cell foam material, and whatever adhesive was on the backing has deteriorated over 20 years under a black roof. What would you guys recommend for adhesives?

Okay so Im restoring my pickup. I but new brake lines on. (Rubber ones) and started to go bleed the brakes. Okay so, The right front brake bled just fine, with no pedal presusre, Went to bleed left front, no pedal pressure but since the right front bled fine I figured it would do it again. Started bleeding left front. Pumped up the brakes and held them down...... Loosened valve to release air..... and Nothing. No air no fluid no anything. The master cylinder is full. I took the bleeder valve off to see if it was clogged and it wasnt. But i blew it out anyway. When I took the valve off, It had brake fluid on it. But nothing came through...... Any suggestions? I might eithe…

I'm lookin' at buying this 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350. It has a 4 barrel Holley carb swap as well as a shift kit in the transmission, along with chrome valve covers and other misc. visual stuff under the hood. One of the main problems with it is that the speedometer is off. Way off. In fact, it's around 20 mph too fast. I'm thinking whoever installed the shift kit might have broken some teeth on the speedo gear. I was wondering if any of you have had a similar problem with the speedo being off, or know of anything else that may be wrong with it.
