finally done with my exams and i can start work on the car. objectives : a "budget" active system as stealthy as possible nothing much at first. progress is very slow because of some family "issues" keeping me away... first up, mounting the head unit (alpine 9813 i found locally) : dash ripped apart, so i can fabricate some brackets to hold the hu in place head unit running the stock speakers...just a quick test before the end of the day

I decided to build a kind of fart box for a local comp to get higher scores. and while i was designing it i thought i could make a second port for daily use and shove it through my backseat. I wanted to get a box for two 15s in the car but the most space i could get with the design i had in mind was 2.375 cubes per sub and i want more. so ill be using this box for this month then work out a new design based on this new box to get 2 15s in my trunk. this box will be a little over 4 cubes, with an external flared port, and lots of threaded rod and carriage bolts. i spent most of the day getting this far

A few months ago I deadened the floor pan and the rear wall with a roll of RAAMmat and it cleaned up the sound tremendously. I have a Massive Audio CW12 downfiring out of a JL Audio Stealthbox disguised as the middle seat. Then I decided that new speakers were in order because the JL Audio TR series were not doing a good enough job. I did some research and decided on Focal Polyglass speakers and the new Focal Solid 2 channel amplifier. Considering the 6.5 inch woofer and the 4 inch mid wouldn't fit in the stock 6x9 hole I had to make baffles and glass them into the doors. Right now its just a temporary solution until I figure out a better way to do it. This is not show qu…

  10. This box is a rebuild due to his last box apparently never being built correctly. A 15yr old guy on ca.com that seems to do decent work built his last box, but it was rattling from day one and Ben thought it was the sub, and I, telling him the whole time it sounded like either his hatch or the box. Either way, the top plate of the box seperated from the enclosure walls and really rattled, making this setup un-playable. So we decided to build him a new one. Ernie started this box yesterday and we finished it up today. old box. new box. we'll have to get some video's of this thing now. It flexs everything in his car, digs down nice and low and distorts my voice e…

  13. for those of you that didnt see in the other thread, i took the first one out. i really wasn't happy with it once i thought about it. this one, already with the false floor, is coming out alot better. the floor is 2 layers thick. the first layer is bolted with 1/2" x 2.5" bolts in the rear, and up front its tite bonded, and screwed to those 2x4's u see under there. the 2x4's themselves are also bolted to the body with the same bolts. none-the-less, its very sturdy, and not gonna budge. the 2nd layer is self explanatory, its to make is 100% level (to cover the bolt heads used to bolt the first layer down) and to clarify, the cuts i made on the rear cross-member, to get tho…

I know these are just a few and baaaaad pictures, but i wanna show you what im very proud of... This is the thing the enclosure is made of, a stock part of the car which is in the trunk. Finished (fibreglassed and mdf baffle)... Installed Its 1.4 cuft after displacements tuned to 36 hz.... Sound really nice and because the enclosure is screwed in the cars chassis everthing vibrates Its complete stealth after the orginal plate is over the sub.. I know my language sucks but i hope you understand and see whats done faezich And one last question: Looking for someone who can do blueprints for an spl comp. enclosure (flared port?!?) for my spl car ...?

  17. Took advantage of some free time and the nice weather to get started on my box for the DLS sub. let's get some wood cut eh? pieces all cut out and ready for assembly one more piece to go! ready to start marking and cutting out the hole for the flared port opening. the port on the inside. excuse the huge glare from the sun :\ covering the mounting area so the spray won't get on it. a peek inside through the port opening. lots of clearance between the motor and port tune. done! it's 1.62 cubic feet ported and tuned to 35Hz. i haven't installed it into the car yet...ran out of daylight and the mosquitos are out in full force. i'll get it into the car as s…

This is my first sub box. I've done some other carpentry stuff before but have always been too scared to try and build a sub box in fear it would sound like chit and be a total waste of effort. It's 2 cubes tuned at 41hz. I'm trying to get more spl out of my sub on 500 watts to give me an edge in the basic 1 class in my local circuit. I hit 135.5db on my current setup but that may not get er done. I could have finished much sooner if I had more clamps. I'll glue the top down tonight after I find my tie down straps and do the pseudo-in law family Easter gig. I almost forgot to add the part about my girlfriend's wisdom teeth being taken out Friday. Puffy puffy cheeks.

Here is the build I did a couple of weekends ago for a kid I used to work with. It's 5 cubic feet after all displacements tuned to 34Hz. He's running both off of my old Cadence TXA1000D. They are getting a little less than 500 watts a piece. Looking to upgrade to a 1500-2000 watt amp sometime soon. T-nuts are amazing. Round over on the top edge. Bolt terminals. A little woofer porn for all of you. 10" Sundown Audio SD1-v2 10" SSA Icon 12" Fi Car Audio Q And, I know I'll get hated if I don't post videos. So here you are you whores. It's pretty loud. Should get quite a bit louder when we double the power. EDIT: Fixed a picture.

Here is the box. & the port & to fully understand the design, Box is .91cuft tuned to 30hz, and so far I think it really likes this box. Just finished it tonight so I didnt get to really crank it up (wife yelled at me for shaking the house at 11pm ) but it has a great sound to it. I will post a vid when I get a chance.

Steve is a close friend of Big Dave and I guess they competed together years ago. While Big Dave likes to do things well, big, Steve is a bit more conservative which I can certainly appreciate. Here are some shots of Steve's build. Since taking these pics, Steve has added a second IXL-10, and is now talking about adding a third in order to enter a competition local to him (Ontario).
