I started this today before I tried to change my window motor assembly and realized it was a dud. Crap. Try that again next week I guess. First time ever applying sound deadener and I should have ordered the wheel with the damplifier lite. Will be buying it soon with more damplifier for my geo as it was a bitch by hand. Took a little while but got part of the inside panel done. It will be a slow project and the other door will be done with the other window motor. Not broken but getting slower these days. Will update periodically. http://s694.photobucket.com/albums/vv302/bigrank916/MLI-65%20project/

Just a few snapshots of equipment I have sitting around for this build log since it will start officially tomorrow. No pictures of the car till tomorrow when it arrives, everything under the hood is new besides the engine so right now that is my focus since it has over 200,000 miles. I will replace the primary battery with a XS Power D2400 and I will put a D3100 in the trunk with the sounds. Need to find out how Im gonna go about the center console since I cant find any dash kits for the car, need to find room for either a single-din or double-din and my Audio Control Epic-160. I may take the navigation out but I dont know as of yet, we will see (I dont have the software …

  3. I've been looking for something to replace my Ford F150. Honestly folks, Its a Money Pit. Can't build the system for having to stop and fix shit. So while I was going through a small town towing a big truck to it's owner, Something For Sale caught my eye and I had to have it !!! Here it is Folks !!! A 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche !!! I've always wanted one !!! I know, Not a "all bells and whistles" ride, but well suitable for what I want. Honestly, the only thing I want to add on the exterior is a bad ass set of 20" wheels and tires. I could have got a new truck, but they don't make an Avalanche any more and I did not want to pay those High as…

Hey everybody, I picked up my truck yesterday, so it's time for the build to begin. IT's a black Z71 on 24s for now. 133k miles, interior looks brand new, overall great shape. If you don't know me well, I'm a 15 year old and this is my first setup. Equipment I've already ordered/received: 1 D2 18" Fi BTL N2 1 AQ2200D Thinking of running a D3400 in the back. The battery in the truck is basically brand new, so I'm leaving it as is. The guy that had it before me actually had a setup extremely similar to mine; an 18" SoloX. He had the big 3 done already. I got really lucky with this, seein as how I had no idea this truck had previously had a system in it. The guy knew what he…

  5. Just got a new car so its time for the new build. I now have a 2010 Audi A4 Premium and craving to put a sub in the trunk. First off, here is the car.. I plan on getting a Fi Q 12d2 with cooling and spider. Its going to have a ported box tuned to 32-33hz with a matching black/silver theme built by DonH. The box dimensions are 35x16x12in with the baffle on 35x16. The sub will be wired parallel to a Sundown SAX-1200D. I plan on getting a refurbished one from db-r. Im going to be able to hide the amps in the sides of the trunk behind the panels. If I can hide all wires this can be a very clean semi stealth build. As for electrical, I have 10ft of Stinger Hyperflex and but …

Hi everyone ! I own a brand new MAzda CX-5 2.2 l Diesel. It's my first SUV, I've never had so much room in the cargo area ! I'm still waiting on a dash kit and an adaptor for the head unit. I sold a lot of things from my ex car, the Toyota : rca's, power and ground (cca) wires, box, a Kinetic 1200, a DD 9515 ;-) and more....It gave me some serious cash to buy a few items. Here what I have so far : head unit : Pioneer X5600BT I need a double DIN unit to keep the screen for the parking radar (how do you call that ?) Amplifiers : Incriminator Audio 20.1 for the bass and a 3.4 for the mids & highs. (thanks SSA for the Black&Blue sale). Sub : SSA Zcon 15" Mids & …

Starting a new build tomorrow. Going over to frogcase2002's house and we are going to build the box for them inside the trunk of my car. I'll post up some pics of the process and how I like the subs overall. My setup as of now is a single 12 inch zcon d2 running at 1 ohm on a Crescendo bc3500. A singer 250 amp alternator and a sundown sae 50.4 running a set of soundqubed components. Deck is a sony for now not sure of the model number. I have a pioneer 80prs I'm going to install sometime but i have to take it out of my truck first and i wanted to wait to get some better comps and figure out the best placement in my car for tweeters. I'll post up some pics here in a fe…

I just bought a 95 Cadillac Eldorado. It has the factory amplified system in it, so I have to run all new wires, amp, speakers, etc. I'm still trying to decide what i'm going to run in it. So far I'm thinking an Alpine IXA-W404 for the head unit, PXA-H100 eq, a set of focal 165a1 components running active, a dsc480 or dsc4125 to run the front stage, my saz-1500d to run the sub stage and probably 1 15" ported through the back deck or one sealed 18". For electrical, it has a new Interstate 800 cca main battery, I'll put my kinetic HC1400 in the trunk, run 1/0 main power and do the big three in 1/0. Here are some pics, and feel free to comment on my planned system. Also I'm …

Well, I'm sure most of you saw the box I built for local customer Bobby for 2 Evil 18's in a suburban. Well, tax time came around and guess what, he bought 2 more Evil 18's! I wanted to keep the box from being massively tall, but I was able to manage 20 cubes net! I just started today, but I might get it assembled (or at least half assembled) by this evening. Anyway, onto the pictures... Specs: 20 cubes net 14" Octaport 32 hz Badass window bracing Letting the Octaport dry, while I cut out the bracing.

Replaced my daily driver with a '96 Lumina(my pawpaw car as my son calls it), but I got a good deal and I needed some decent transpo for back and forth to work. Seems everyone in my family has a nice ride but Dad. Oh well, my time will come. Not doing anything crazy here, just some simple tunes to make my commute to work a little more enjoyable. This has been done on the cheap with some simple stuff, but will give the guys my son keeps attracting an idea what they can do without breaking the bank. Some of this install has already started and hope to have it all completed by the end of the week. Beginning pics uploading now...

  14. The goal 140. My previous attempt netted me a 135 and change at 32Hz. You can see my previous build here: Original Build This time I'm upping the anty with a pair of 18s and double the power. A mind boggling 900 watts. That's 900 old school class A/B watts via US Acoustics USB line. Why you ask? Because, they're cheap. The 2150 average about $100 bucks on ebay and the 2080 were about $40, which includes shipping. Here is a run down of the setup: The car: 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra A.K.A The Cream Puff Head Unit: JVC KD-HDW10 A basic CD player with a built in HD tuner and RCA outputs Amps: 2 US Acoustics USB-2085 both at 80 watts x 2 @ 4ohms (mids and highs) & 2 US…

Well since I've decided to move on from this build it was time to find a new project. So I give you the B2 tahoe.... But really thats all I have so far. The plan is to either move the xc's from the toaster into this and drop down to 4 15's no wall since thats the cone area limit for the class i plan to run. So: 4 15 b2 xc's 4 b2 m1s various b2 hn8's or hn6's and hntt tweeters. b2 quattro amps for highs. will be doing 4 alts but dunno on the amperage yet either 320's or 370's, and no clue on batts yet. and all sky high wire. got a few months before any shows so itll be a little bit before I update this. But I'm excited for the upcoming season.

This is my 1st hands on build in ~15 yrs, so go easy on me.LOL the intro is a lil long- but wanted to get the story in. I always like readin how and why builds come about. My son/s and I will be tackling a 18" xcon install in my 01 Grand Vitara, referenced to as 'Zuk for short. I bought this lil SUV from a friend with the intentions to drive it for a bit- then hand it over to my oldest when he turns 16 (in about 16 months). I have always had a lil bump in my cars, so it was inevitable that it happen to the Zuk. Alway ran typical box store systems, Alpine, Kicker, Etc. Just started to learn about SSA, Fi, Crescedo, etc about a 6-7 months ago- when I bought my Suburb…

  18. I just picked up a 2003 Lincoln Town Car two days ago. Yesterday I put the head unit and active crossover in, today I should be running the camera wire and sub rca's to the trunk. I'll update with some pics later. I planned and purchased everything for an install in my 96 Eldorado, but it never happened. Now the Eldorado is the wife's car and the system will be going in the Town Car. I have a Ported box for 2 SA10's that I'll throw in for now, but I'd like to fit something up on the hump under the rear deck and do a false floor in the deep well in the middle of the trunk for my extra battery and amps. I'm really debating swapping out the 2 sa10's for 3 or 4 8's in a porte…

Not exactly sure on all the gear yet. I may just do it in several phases. The factory head unit died so I replaced it and now I'm itching to do more. The goals. More volume. Get some bass while using as few watts as possible and not giving up what little space I have in the back for hauling groceries and parts. The gear that I'm sure of, the rest will get sorted out as I go. Head unit JVC KW-XR810 double din. 4 Kicker Comp 8" Sub amp Kenwood KAC-8152D Right now it has all factory Pioneer speakers for the mids/highs. They sound much better with the new headunit. I may swap in some better stuff and run another amp for the mids/highs but thats later on. I chose the Kicker…

So i have finally built up the courage to cut the big hole in my cab that i have been wanting to do for about 4 years now... I went to my local DC dealer (that rusty helped me locate) i then ordered some level 3s for a decent deal, then came in a couple days later to pay to find out that rusty HAD just ran out of level 3's and upgraded me FREE OF COST to the level 4s. so i pretty much got some level 4's for half price. so to anyone wondering about DC audio, there customer service is absolutely superb, i cant say enough how freakin excited i am about this deal. Stereo Solutions and Rusty from DC audio, i thank you guys soooooo much, i cant emphasize enough how happy i am.…

  23. I just purchased (4) custom FiCarAudio 18's from Jim, aka ZORA. Thank you very much Jim, I am very excited to see how these perform in the van! So here's what's in the van: Alpine IVA-W505 DVD player. I purchased it with the intent of running an optical out cable for audio and Ai-NET cable to touch-screen interface with the crossover, Alpine PXA-H701. All slopes are set to 30dB/oct going against the advice of CUBDENNO, who said "keep it even at 24dB!" sorry but I just can't make myself do it! (4) Vifa XT25TG30 1" ring radiators doing a steep 66dB/oct slope 14kHz on up (yeah, I know, but thats how it is) off a Kicker SX500.2 parallel 2ohms with its 36dB/oct slope adding i…
