I purchased the Boston Acoustic pro60se component system from Sonicelectronix for 289.99 about four months ago and i feel like i've had enough time with the set to make a reliable review. The bad news is that this is the first after market component set that i've really had any true experience with so this review may not have a whole lot of value. oh well The set has been running off of an old Alpine 3522 its entire life, so there is no doubt that they aren't getting their RMS (125 watts at 3ohms). The set was installed in the front doors in replacement of the stock speakers in my 2004 explorer. No modification was needed; they were pretty much a bolt on. and the tweet…

The USPS priority mail package arrived, and I knew what was in it. I had been excited about their arrival, as they were the final piece to my upgrade from a more entry level set of CDTs to one of their very best 2 way component set offerings. The journey took about a month. The heavy box revealed the monster CDT ES-06 midbass drivers. They are pretty beefy drivers, with a big rubber boot over the motor. Jerking the boot off, I discovered a super shiny chrome motor. The basket is a nice cast 4 spoke basket. The quick release spring terminals offer a secure and quick connection. I quickly yanked out the old mids and modified the door to fit the motor, and they were in place…

  3. So the package arrived at the shop and I could barely restrain my excitement. I had been reading a lot about the Hertz Mille set and found a brand new set for a real steal. The MLK165 set uses the ML165 mid driver, the ML28 tweeter, and the MLCX 20 crossover, which is amazingly HUGE! The mid is really a piece of art, very well constructed with an oddly shaped “V-cone” for better off axis dispersion. The tweeter comes with 2 “chambers” which seem to act as aperiodic membranes, altering FS from 1200Hz with the small to 920Hz with the large chamber. Hertz recommends the large chamber for best sound, and I agree that lowering FS is beneficial here as well, so I went with the …

Introduction http://www.soundsolu...Components.html http://bravoxaudio.com/ Bravox is a newer name to SSA, being recently just added to the store a few months back, so some of you may be relatively unfamiliar with the brand. According to the website, Bravox is a Brazilian company that was founded in 1953. From everything I could find they perform the full range of services in house, from engineering and design to driver construction. In this day and age of same-product different-name electronics, it's nice to see a company that still completely designs and produces their own unique products. A few weeks back I purchased the Bravox CS60-CF component set, linked above, f…

Company: Sundown Audio Product Name: SAX 100.4 Rev C Rating 4 out of 5 Power: 100 x4 or 320 x2 Pros: Flexible cross-over network. Enough power for entire system (if you are not greedy). Takes a beating thermally and physically. Not a flashy looking amp Cons: Very large compared to comparable 4x100 amps which makes it difficult to mount. Not a flashy looking amp. Ownership: 2+ years I purchased this amp from DB-r as a refurb almost 2 years ago to install in a Miata to power the entire system. I only got around to running a 10" ported sub off of the rear channels which in that car was enough to make it (to me) a good thumping system. Nothing to break glass but eno…

2 12" ssa icons (prototype?) review First thing I noticed when I unpackaged them was how well built they were. The huge triple stack motor, well you guys can read the specs but the craftsmanship on these drivers is top notch. In my setup I had dual 1ohm drivers wired to 1ohm on saz-1500d amp. My electrical is stock besides the big 3 done, so I couldn't really take full advantage of the amp, but that was okay because the icons still got loud, very loud. I probably had the gain turned up 2/5 on the saz. First song I played was Narayan by The Prodigy, bass kicking in at 0:44 sounding nice and crisp at low volume, got a couple rattles here and there in the jeep. I then turne…

(Re-Post from Daber Section) Daber Audio is starting to take off, so I thought I would take this chance and repost some of the store reviews we have got from them.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daber Audio SQL-10 Subwoofer Michelle Kibodeaux Says: "I was getting so frustrated that I couldn't hear the lower frequencies for some of my favorite music! But, I'm a mom, I drive a lil station wagon, and I wasn't into subs for the status. My 10" sub is perfect. Doesn't take up much room, still can tote groceries, but the bass makes all the grocery sacks make a sizzle sound. It's really just perfect!" ---------------------------…

Company: Alpine Product Name: PDX 1000 Length of Ownership: 2-3 months Rate 1-5: ***** Pros: Size, VERY User Friendly, Just about everything. Cons: I would of liked the speaker terminals better if they were fiberglass instead of plastic.. thats about it. The PDX 1000 is an amazing amplifier.. its sexy and packs a punch! I had it pushing two 12" Alpine Type R's (3rd gen) and it was an amazing set-up and i miss it everyday! This amplifier is my favorite to date, i would recommend this amplifier to ANYone that wants a great 1000wrms at 2 and 4 ohms I really wish for Alpine to start making PDX series amps with 2-6kwrms!

I want to take short time aside to thank Don and his company Sound Deadener Showdown for making great products. He was VERY helpful on telling me what i need and did not try to sell me more the what was necessary to make an extra buck, i recommend his company products to anybody that really wants a quite ride. The products: 16 CLD Tiles 1 roll Extruded Butyl Rope 1 sheet 1/4" CCF The CLD Tiles went on my doors real nicely, they were easy to cut and shape with scissors.. but not so much with a box cutter lol The Extruded Butyl Rope can stretch FAAAAAAAAAAAAR as fuck! i took about a piece the size of my thumb and pulled it about 6-12 feet -- just for shits and giggles. Hey Guys i wrote this review for my home car audio forum in Australia, so prices are in Australian but i thought it would be a good idea to post it up here as this is my perfered international car audio forum. I hope you all enjoy Introduction Having spent a considerable amount of time listening to the IXL18 I was interested to see how the smaller IXL10 compared with its bigger brother. I was always very impressed by the IXL18 and I was optimistic about how the IXL10 would perform. I was hopeful that the IXL10 would be able to replicate the sonic character of the IXL18 in a smaller enclosure. Although I have a Mach5 SPL15 I had been looking for a smaller subwoofer for a …

So the sitckers came rolled up with surprised me, i thought it would fuck the sticker up but it didnt I dont know if you are suspose to put the sticker on wet or dry but i had to put it on wet because i knew it'd be a bitch to reposition it if it was dry lol At first i couldnt get the son of a bitch centered and even! but i got it perfect with time. Over all the sticker wasnt hard to put on, the letters seemed to stick th the clear layer of the sticker so i had to get my license out and wedge it between the clear layer and the letter. After i got the hang of it putting it on became very simple. I love how they look on my truck and i would recomend them to any AQ fan.

I need to send it back and get a bigger size but here it is. (XL) I thought it would be a material like Jordan hoodys but sadly its not and the size is smaller then a M compaired to Jordan.. seems thinner cotten too The strings comming out of the hood are pretty sweet. Its like weaved with white and grey. The lettering seems pretty legit, i have a feeling it will shrink in the dryer so i have to hang dry it. The elastic type material on the bottom of the hoody and by my wrist is decent not too tight. Overall i am happy with the hoodys fi makes.. when i get the right size (XXL) ill be even happier. The measurements for the Large is: 26" long 20" wide and a slee…

I'm not gonna post a lot of info in here right now because i dont have my specs in front of me but between now and the next few days, i'll be testing their power capability to a degree as they are wired at 0.4ohms right now... 4 of them are and will be kept that way for a week or two. As of right now, leaving them wired like that and keeping the gain off(that's if you have an aftermarket gain controller), the amp's exhibit no heat buildup when not in use. It was left running like this for 45 minutes. Some people may find this odd that i would test an amp with no output power but to the contrary... some amps wired this low are real touchy about certain wired loads and will…

So last night I took around an hour or so to write up some huge review on my new pair of 18'' Sound Solution Audio Xcons. Unfortunately there was a url glitch and the thread is gone, so I will try to sum up my product review instead of another 5000 word essay. The SSA Xcon is an amazingly solid driver that has absurd amounts of low end output (on little power might I add) and still acts incredibly responsive, the sound quality of this sub does not hold back its ability to "get loud" one bit. I feel that the Xcon is a very under appreciated driver in today's market, so luckily for you all interested in this sub, I'm taking more time to write this second review. My enclosur…

SECOND SKIN GIVEAWAY REVIEW!! (Sorry if it takes a while to load there are a few pics!) I am no stranger to this wonderful product... having two full layers in the trunk, generous amounts on the front doors and rear trunk wall I've really enjoyed what a big difference in sound quality Damp Pro has made. Before I installed it, pretty much every panel on the car would vibrate incessantly and after futile attempts at fixing the problem with weatherstripping and rags I decided to order a pack last summer. I'm very grateful to Ant at SSA for choosing me as a winner in the giveaway contest, and for allowing me to finally complete my sound deadening endeavor. I chose to install…

There is a lot of good info on here, but not much in the way of actual results. So here is the products that I have ran Dynamat Original, Dynamat extreme, Edead, Fatmat, Fatmat Xtreame, Fatmat Rattle trap XXX, Zilla mat, B-Quite, hushmat, and now Second Skin. Dynamat original is good but you have to it to get it to stick, but once in place it is good to go. I would not use this on roofs, or trunk lids, or doors, just on you floors. No mess at all with this stuff. Dynamat Extreme works great can be installed any temp sticks great. This stuff can be messy while installing, and will cut you up pretty good since the metal backing is so thin. Edead do not recommend this stuff …

First off, let me begin by saying that the customer service at Image Dynamics is top notch... due to my improper gain settings I managed to blow through the first set of crossovers I received with the set and Eric over at ID sent me a new pair at no charge. Outstanding company. Now, to the review... where do I begin? This set is very well balanced and the price point is very low for such an exceptional set of speakers. I had mine for around $150. The massive 6.5" midrange woofer delivers clear sound, powerful & punchy midbass, and is capable of sustaining clarity at very high volume levels. In other words, it gets loud and sounds damn good doing it!! I'm feeding aro…

I have ran Audioque for quite a few years before they went overseas but that doesn't mean that things started to fail either... The HDC3 line is stated to be more efficient than the USA version, the HD3 line. I never did a comparison so i don't know the difference. However, this is what i do know about the HDC3 line because I also used to run 2 of the Copper Coil 12s. Audioque subs, in general, are HEAVILY underrated just like many other speakers on the market. It all depends on how you set your gains and monitor your equipment. My impressions on the HDC3 sub- It doesn't take a lot of power to get the sub to produce a decent sound. At only 500w available, this sub still…

Brand: Apline Model: CDA-9887 Rating: I would give it a 5 out of 5 Pros: Ok, so I just go my new head unit put in and it has 10 times better sound output then my last deck a Clarion VRX755 (which is a DVD/CD player). I think some of it might be going from 2 volt preouts to 4 volt preouts. But, I figured that wouldn't matter since I was running (and still am running) a line driver. Cons: The only thing I see being a con is if you are not sure how panoramic and graphic EQ’s work it could be a problem, along with setting the time delay by ear. But they take care of that if you have the mic for the sound imprint feature. Other then that I would say there is no problems wi…

I recently had 2 Mayhem !5's put in a cut through in a my 2004 Dodge Ram. The box is tuned to 32htz. I power it off a Clif Designs 4800.1 and it hits harder and lower than anything I have ever heard (in a truck). Ascendant Audio is in my opinion the best, if the ultimate a street basser can get. Most people cant handle the sound in my truck. The shop that did the install told me that they have received several calls from "people" advising them to turn it down when in town. I have not been able to get them to distort under any bass and I pound them at all times. Its nothing but thumbs up for me, I'm sold.

Well as one of the winners of the Second Skin giveaway contest, and one of the closest recipients of it, I got my kit this week on Thursday. Considering Ant had to send it twice beacuse of UPS fuckin up and sending it to him instead of me, thats pretty damn quick!!! Anyways on to the review I got the box on friday and opened it up to find these extra goodies (not in a modeling position though) I started by popping the panel off my 2006 Xterra and well its a bitch. There are 3 screws holding it in and ALL of them are hidden throught the arm rest/door handel. This is what I discovered These pics showing more detail to the screw holes After ripping it off this is wha…
