Here we go, as I give the Sundown Audio SD-2 8" subwoofer the once over. This will be a three part series starting with pics and notes regarding shipping and construction. Secondly will be an install overview with pics. Lastly, I'll wrap things up with a listening review. Lets start off with some pics: How they arrive. Out of the box, and striking a pose. A little shout out. And lastly some interesting angles. Each sub come in double boxed in an exceptional styrofoam container. The sub is well supported and ready for the worst of shipping mishandling. A+ The woofer is well build. All glue joints are strong with a proper and complete bond. I took a closer …

So I've been using both equipment for a week now. I'll start with the XCON. It is in a 2 cu. ft. Net and tuned to 32 hz. It sounds amazing from higher bass notes to the low notes. Ppl can't believe its one 12 even though they are staring at it. It has a very nice deep tone with very good accuracy. The lows are INCREDIBLE! This subs moves so much air. I haven't listened to any bass so far i didn't like with this speaker. I like a lot of rock and rap. Not to mention it looks great. Didn't seem to take long to loosen up. I love it, just wish I had one more. Now on to the amp. I previously had a mtx thunder elite 1501d running at 2 ohms. All i did was Change the sub, box, and…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHev71mVDWE Audiowrap is obviously a high quality product from my personal experience with it. Enough said. The adhesion on it is superior to almost all other sound deadners I have used. It's very sticky and has no odor to it. Other products I have used had a uneven layer of adhesive while this product has a nice even thick coat for superior adhesion. The deadening material itself is thick. It's nice and stiff so it's easier to work with. It won't fold over and stick to itself while you are removing the plastic film for install. My fingers got cut up pretty good from installing this product. Which means it won't fold under pressure and once …

I'll start this off with a list of equipment used: 4 12" SSA Gcon Sundown Audio SAZ-1500 Alpine 9887 6.9 ft^3 Net 35 hz tuning with 12.3in per cube with 3 6" flared PSP aero ports On with the review. I bought 4 12" Gcons the hour they were released, and have been using them everyday since having them show up at my door. Competitive burping, ground-pounding, demoing both spl and clarity, and I'm more than happy with my purchase. If you can see through the vlurred bision these subs cause you can literally watch your car shake apart! Gcon left, Fiday X right Turn the bass knob down to blend with the front stage to really show what bass can add to any music. The Gcons bass …

These are my thoughts on my trials and tribulations installing the tejcurrent quad alt bracket. My ride, a 2004 Chevy Suburban 1500 4x4 with a 5.3l V8 This is what comes in the box. The hardware is good quality stuff. The bracket is nicely finished. The instructions are of the standard issue variety with some nice color pics. Lets get to the installation. I read over the instructions a couple of times just to get familiar with the installation process. At the same time I checked the hardware against the instructions to make sure I got everything needed. A packing list would have been nice. There were a couple of typos. This one was a little concerning. The instructions …

Ok people....me and buddy decided to deaden my roof today! With great results i must say! We started with a single layer basically all the way across and then doubled up in area's we thought might be trouble spots. The product feels good and is easy to work with.We didn't even have to use a roller through most of the install. This is some VERY sticky stuff! lol The only thickness i had to compare the Audiowrap to was some Second Skin Damplifier Pro.This stuff was not as thick...yet i didn't expect it to be. Damp Pro is the upper model of SS and i have never had any orginal to compare with.Though i was told Audiowrap did have some 10mil thick line coming out ! Anyway we go…

SECOND SKIN GIVEAWAY REVIEW!! (Sorry if it takes a while to load there are a few pics!) I am no stranger to this wonderful product... having two full layers in the trunk, generous amounts on the front doors and rear trunk wall I've really enjoyed what a big difference in sound quality Damp Pro has made. Before I installed it, pretty much every panel on the car would vibrate incessantly and after futile attempts at fixing the problem with weatherstripping and rags I decided to order a pack last summer. I'm very grateful to Ant at SSA for choosing me as a winner in the giveaway contest, and for allowing me to finally complete my sound deadening endeavor. I chose to install…

Here she is: It's in a 2.2 net tuned to 32hz. Powered by an MD2, set to get about 1200w. Pretty **** beefy when I first saw it, like a chubby kid back in those elementary school days. Quality looks excellent. Dropped in it, I've let it play 20hz tones here and there for a little over 10 hours now. Been listening to it gradually and it's been pleasing. The low-end is defining not lacking and for what it's worth, I think it's a low-end monster. So the suspension's loosened up a bit, but still a bit stiff (it was very stiff brand new). I was surprised by the output of this thing. Compared to my 2 12" RL-p's in 1.5 sealed with 1.5kw, they definitely keep up in terms of ou…

I always like listening to lower-power woofers in the 2-300W range, because these smaller drivers show that especially when musical accuracy is concerned, you don't need the multi-kW behemoths that are becoming commonplace these days. Just 300W and a small sealed enclosure is often times all you need to realistically reproduce most anything you can throw at it. For this review, I wired the voice coils for a combined 8 ohm load, with an Xover point of 50Hz @ 24dB/oct. The enclosure was slightly under 1cF, sealed. Aesthetics: You normally don't expect much in the way of build quality for subwoofers in the SD-1's price bracket. I was pretty surprised on opening the packaging…

Well I just got my pair of fusion 5 1/4s I won off ebay today. Wondering if anyone here has any experience with them. Not 100% sure what I am going to do with them. But They came brand new in box for pretty much the cost of shipping so could not pass that up. Okay, it's been a couple days since I installed it, you can look at my build log ....Anyways, it's installed in about .6 cu. ft. center console enclosure firing down about 3 1/2" off the floor and a 3" Aeroport firing out toward the front, under the dash. It's tuned to around 36-37Hz...for power I have an old school Planet Audio (Zed made) P1002, running 2 ohms mono (about 450 watts). For mids and highs, I have an Autotek Model 33 running some 6 1/2" Viper Audio, some Vifa/Hollywood Sound 4" dome midranges, and some Polk MM1200 tweets. (Yeah I know, all old stuff, gotta get updated in my next build) Let me preface these reviews saying I have the sub level turned a little…

I got into car audio about 12 years ago. I was a bass player and one day figured out that I could play CD's thru my bass amp. It was all downhill from there. I started listening to bass and rap CD's in the house. Then I realized I was missing something in the car. My first subs were Lanzar 12" OA's (designed for infinite baffle) in a large sealed box in the back of my 4Runner. Since then I have had Orion XTR's, Image Dynamics ID's, and some loud crappy Audiobahn's. I have always liked the sound of sealed systems, and the simplicity of build. I have heard MANY ported systems, and while they were always LOUD AS HELL, there were things I didn't like about them. Port…

Hey everyone, figured I would copy this review I did from DIYMA First off, I wasnt honestly expecting much from a $30 subwoofer. I figured it would sound decent, probably be a bit sloppy, and hopefully give me a little thump... Boy was i wrong, big-time... I have tried a single MAW-10 in a 1.2 cube ported enclosure tuned to 26Hz, a pair in a 1.8 cube common chamber sealed enclosure, and lastly 4 of them in a 6 cube ported enclosure tuned to 45Hz(talk about a fart cannon!). I really wish I would of got around to making some different size enclosures tuned differently, but these were what I had lying around. 1.2 cube ported enclosure tuned to 26Hz- Sub had great transient …

Brand: Apline Model: CDA-9887 Rating: I would give it a 5 out of 5 Pros: Ok, so I just go my new head unit put in and it has 10 times better sound output then my last deck a Clarion VRX755 (which is a DVD/CD player). I think some of it might be going from 2 volt preouts to 4 volt preouts. But, I figured that wouldn't matter since I was running (and still am running) a line driver. Cons: The only thing I see being a con is if you are not sure how panoramic and graphic EQ’s work it could be a problem, along with setting the time delay by ear. But they take care of that if you have the mic for the sound imprint feature. Other then that I would say there is no problems wi…

2 12" ssa icons (prototype?) review First thing I noticed when I unpackaged them was how well built they were. The huge triple stack motor, well you guys can read the specs but the craftsmanship on these drivers is top notch. In my setup I had dual 1ohm drivers wired to 1ohm on saz-1500d amp. My electrical is stock besides the big 3 done, so I couldn't really take full advantage of the amp, but that was okay because the icons still got loud, very loud. I probably had the gain turned up 2/5 on the saz. First song I played was Narayan by The Prodigy, bass kicking in at 0:44 sounding nice and crisp at low volume, got a couple rattles here and there in the jeep. I then turne…

As soon as I got this first thing that I noticed was the build quality! Very well built sub. I had it hooked up to a bahn A8000T ( I know I know) in 3.7@28Hz. (Re-Post from Daber Section) Daber Audio is starting to take off, so I thought I would take this chance and repost some of the store reviews we have got from them.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daber Audio SQL-10 Subwoofer Michelle Kibodeaux Says: "I was getting so frustrated that I couldn't hear the lower frequencies for some of my favorite music! But, I'm a mom, I drive a lil station wagon, and I wasn't into subs for the status. My 10" sub is perfect. Doesn't take up much room, still can tote groceries, but the bass makes all the grocery sacks make a sizzle sound. It's really just perfect!" ---------------------------…

First impression: The Arc Audio 4050XXK and 2050XXK are quite beautiful amplifiers, although the pictures cannot pick it up. The heatsink fins are machined aluminum, but they have an almost chrome shine to them. The amps have a nice solid feel with the exception of the bottom plate, which is an access panel to the internal workings of the amplifier. As far as the connectors go, the rca inputs are very high quality and have a nice solid feel to them when plugging in male rca connectors. I was surprised to see screw terminals on such a well built amplifier. They work ok for a lower power amp like this, but I would only hope that the larger XXK amplifiers would have e…

first off i know this thread is a little teaser w/o pics... i need to go buy a camera... pioneer p880prs ive own only one other pioneer deck which was the p8mp... a little old but the only pioneer that had the 4x60w internal amp and a 6.5 pre outs, before that i was a huge fan of alpine the 9813, 9833, 9855... all in all the pioneer p880prs completely blows everything ive owned out of the water... its extemely user friendly, the white OEL display is sharp and is clearly visible in day-light, its probably one of the cleanest h/u up to date in my opinion. and the eq is awesome... my only complaints are like most pioneers the face plate protrudes outward about a few cm and …

The USPS priority mail package arrived, and I knew what was in it. I had been excited about their arrival, as they were the final piece to my upgrade from a more entry level set of CDTs to one of their very best 2 way component set offerings. The journey took about a month. The heavy box revealed the monster CDT ES-06 midbass drivers. They are pretty beefy drivers, with a big rubber boot over the motor. Jerking the boot off, I discovered a super shiny chrome motor. The basket is a nice cast 4 spoke basket. The quick release spring terminals offer a secure and quick connection. I quickly yanked out the old mids and modified the door to fit the motor, and they were in place…
