I got into car audio about 12 years ago. I was a bass player and one day figured out that I could play CD's thru my bass amp. It was all downhill from there. I started listening to bass and rap CD's in the house. Then I realized I was missing something in the car. My first subs were Lanzar 12" OA's (designed for infinite baffle) in a large sealed box in the back of my 4Runner. Since then I have had Orion XTR's, Image Dynamics ID's, and some loud crappy Audiobahn's. I have always liked the sound of sealed systems, and the simplicity of build. I have heard MANY ported systems, and while they were always LOUD AS HELL, there were things I didn't like about them. Port…

Well today I actually was able to find time to have a very indepth listening session with my new setup. It consists of a Kenwood KDC-X859 head unit, eD 6500 components powerd by a Phoenix Gold ti600.2. My Substage is a eD 16Ov.2(dual2)in 2.3 cubic feet @ 30HZ powerd by the newly aquired USAmps MD.1D at 1 ohm. And I had also done the "Big 3" in 4 gauge as well. A big thanks to Mark of Mach 5 for his help on the new box. Great job! Now I have had the eD sub for almost a year. But it was removed for the winter at which time I used a Pair of Mach 5 Maw 15's. It was originally powerd by the PG amp, which was feeding it roughly 600rms. And for the longrst time i was very happy…

First off let me say i'll be totally honest and say i had very low hopes for this sub, as the previous owner had already told me what he thought about it. I bought this sub for the price of $40 dollars form him without a dustcap, contacted Scott and he was kind enough to send me a dustcap for the sub. I tested this sub in a in a sealed off trunk of a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro The test Equipment was: Alpine 9835 kenwood entry level 6.4 coaxials Kenwood entry level 6x9s All speakers inside cabin running from deck power Sub amp MTX 500d ( i know its over the RMS of the sub, buti honestly wanted to see if it would take over the RMS and the only other amps i have are 2k RMS and ab…

  6. Well, around december i received my 12" Fi Q from my uncle who knew me too well i guess. It was given as a gift. So im going to break down this topic into the reveiw first, then into my ?'s Packaging, First Impressions: Upon opening the box, the sub was wrapped well and contained in a nice packaged box. only one of the blue things were somewhat worn, so it was slopped down a little, but as i said it was a gift, and probably not handled the best. But still was in perfect shape When i opened the sub up to take it out and expect at the house, the first thing i noticed was how nice the magnet frame was painted. No scuffs. Later, after more inspection i noticed how stiff the s…

The SSD is a great sub... fing34.gif The SSD is currently being powered by a SAZ-1500d on my stock electrical along with my beautiful Pioneer 860mp as the captain of the ship Anywho When I first purcahsed the sub I only had a 4.5 cu ft ported enclosure for its home and well lets say it was a great experience to say the least. 4.5 cu ft review: 4.5 cu ft enclosure didn't really provide the SQ that I was looking for but it was loud and allowed it to produce a substantial amount of spl. Very noticable to the point it would tickle my ears and this is one sub mind you had friends that rode in my car think I had 2 subs. I enjoyed the 4.5 cu ft enclosure but due to me having cop…

I have a 2004 BMW 330Ci. Here is a list of what I have: Eclipse AVN-5435 Audiocontrol Overdrive, ESP-2, DQX, and DDC US Amps USA 200x - tweeters (50x2) US Amps USA-400x - midrange (100x2) US Amps USA-2000x - sub (2000x1) OZ Audio CS-180 (old school superman logo) 1 Fi Audio Q12 D2 in a 2.0 cu ft box tuned to 33 hz with 24 in of port area (small, I know). I just purchased an 06 RE XXX 12 to replace my 05 XXX 12. Then I heard about Fi so I bought a Q12 just to try it out. The customer service was excellent and the sub was rushed to me in time for Heatwave in San Antonio (USACI). I got the box which was similar to RE's packaging. The box was ravaged but the sub was okay. No…

Recently I purchased two 12 inch ssds from Fi car audio. I was looking for something loud yet retain good sound quality. I first built a box which is 4.5 cubes tuned to 33 hz. I have them hooked up at 1 ohm to a US amps Md2. At first i thought the low end was lacking so i contacted scott and told him and he told me about the copper coils vs the aluminum coils. Well the copper coils made that much of a differnce because i love these subs. They play the lows nicely and get loud. The sound quality could be better. But being that im a bass head it doesnt bother me at all. Compared to a sx which everyone wants to compare them to. I would say they are alike except more musical …

Hey everyone, figured I would copy this review I did from DIYMA First off, I wasnt honestly expecting much from a $30 subwoofer. I figured it would sound decent, probably be a bit sloppy, and hopefully give me a little thump... Boy was i wrong, big-time... I have tried a single MAW-10 in a 1.2 cube ported enclosure tuned to 26Hz, a pair in a 1.8 cube common chamber sealed enclosure, and lastly 4 of them in a 6 cube ported enclosure tuned to 45Hz(talk about a fart cannon!). I really wish I would of got around to making some different size enclosures tuned differently, but these were what I had lying around. 1.2 cube ported enclosure tuned to 26Hz- Sub had great transient …

  13. Well I finally got my subs installed with my new USAmps xt2000d (thanks flakko). They sound better than I expected. I couldn't ask for more from small drivers in really small boxes. I'm sure they could sound alot better if I had a clue about how to setup the amp and my deck (pioneer deh-780) Thanks Mike, Flakko, and everyone that helped answer my questions. Ben

  14. Started by post office,

Initial tests conclude what i had expected. Clean, clear, deep and plenty loud. I feel transients would benefit from a huge ported box but for all intended purposes, the small sealed is sufficient. Rather tight sounding. I love it. Its only day 1. I forgot to take the camera but here is the finished product. Very crisp, neutral sound. It's evident the subs need some time to loosen up a bit. At uncomortable volumes the subs are moving a CH over 1/4" or so. These are a quality product, and mike is a stand up dude to deal with. A small dent in one of the woofer cones was worth a $70 credit for me. Very pleased with my decision to put faith into soundsplinter. I'm…
