I would like to know what makes a alternaor company good verses a crappy one? What makes it charge at 14.4, what determines amps at idle, etc etc. etc.? Basically the innerworkings of a alternator. Would a rebuild kit be better?

So I in the market in buying a 4 channel amp I need about 100 rms per channel going cheap on the amp crunch or MB quart. But my question was if i buy the amp i can use 2 channels for my front stage and can I leave the other 2 for a sub? And most amps are only bridgeable at 4 ohms so this means it is 20 ohms each channel? And my sub is a 4 ohm DVC so if i wire it 2 2ohms it going to be at 1 ohm? So what I'm saying is will I be able to run a front stage and a sub together?

Doesn anyone have any expeience with these amps? I am currently shopping around for new amps for the possibly near future and was reading a little bit about treo. I know their subs are of good quality but what about their amps?

This was all caused by a loose connection. I had a shunt in between the battery and the amp so I could watch the current draw at all times. The connection on the amp side of the shunt got a little loose, and well it pretty much melted the wire into one big strand. I didn't shoot a picture of the connection, but you could tell it got hot. I know that the piece looks like Solder, but I assure you 110% it was CCA KNU wire. This time I'll tighten it up a little more And I cut another 3/4 inch further, I don't know what temperature it got to, but it made it to whatever temperature turns a copper ring terminal black with green and white corrosion.

heey guys i have a Fibl 18un wiht cooling dual 10hm to a jbl gto1200 amp going at 1200watts rms. so orginally i set the gain by ear and had it at little less then 3/4s of the way. Then i set it using the voltmeter and play a 50hz tone with my radio volume 3/4 and i set it to 47 My math for it was 1200X2 then take square root u'd get around 49. but when i did that and played bass i love you at about little less then 3/4 it was barely flexing before it was just dancing adn it not as loud and it sounded like there was more stress on the sub. Got any advice?

My head unit was fine yesterday morning, but yesterday afternoon it statrting going crazy. I get in the car and it has reset itself to factory settings. The clock was wrong, it was in demo mode, and my buttons under the touch screen were unresponsive. The open and power buttons worked but the unit would turn itself back on after I turned it off. The touch screen still works for all the functions, but it is restarting with factory settings everytime the key is turned off. Wiring is fine and wouldn't account for the loss of function to the buttons

I was driving to work and all the sound went off. So when I got to work I turned on the radio, went in the trunk and checked the amps for power and they were getting none. I am guessing that the problem is with the remote. If the remote on the head is in fact dead is there a way to fix it. Is it an easy thing, like maybe a trace on the circuit board? Or is it a big PITA? Could it be something else? What would make both amps suddenly stop getting power?

I will try to post pics soon. The question is has anyone ever installed the big 3 on this model of a vehicle. 2009 Ford Explorer 4.6Lt? I have been looking at my electrical and there is ll kinds of run offs from the positive wire from battery. There are 2 that run from positive into the fuse box, and at least 2 more that split off into I haven't found where yet. Seem like a lot. My question is would it be OK to keep those running to where they are going and still run 0 gauge from Alt to battery using a bus bar or similar? Also with the ground question there are several split offs from the ground battery terminal to the chasey, should just through those on top of my 0 gaug…

Alright guys, I'm looking for a good In-Dash 7" TFT-LCD Touchscreen, Single Din. I'm looking for something that has a responsive touch screen, looks good, has Iphone 3gs support, Aux inputs are always nice, Navigation is not needed as for Multimedia options i would like the ability to play DivX files, DVD's, and DVD Music C.D.s . I would like the ability to run 2 way active, then in the future to run 3 way active, So it must have Subwoofer + Rear+ Front outputs. My budget is around 400 probably no more than 425, I'm open to all brands, so Pioneer, Alpine, Clairion, etc would be all acceptiable.

  17. For over a year now I thought my amps were fully shutting down when the dome lights did. They have not been, but I didn't start suffering low volatge the next morning until recently.... which means that my batteries must have been stronger before but doing this over a year has damaged them marginaly. Today I was waiting for my GF with the ACC in the off. After 15 minutes the toggle switchs shut off and the deck shut off...as they should. I looked in back, sure enough the amps were off... wait... the red lights on the 3 KX amps were off and the blue display was off on the SX...but I saw a faint green glow. I stuck my head through the port and looked at the bottoms of the a…

Well... I reciently bought a Pioneer DEH-P940MP. I was planning to run the front speakers acvive and the rears passive. However, I didnt see in the manual that you can do this. I NEED rear fill, burbs are huge inside, components up front arent going to be able to be heard way in the back. I do carry passengers. I had 2 ideas on how to accomplish this. Run a LOC off the H/U's rear speaker outputs to the amp for the back speakers. Thats if the signal is not seperate (trebel/midrange). I dont know if the internal amp even works in this mode. It cant be shut off so its definetly on. Or... Get 4 Y splitters. Use the output RCA's on the amp and " blend" the treble and mid range…

Hi, I will be doing 2 15" Icon build on a crescendo BC2000D etc in a Dakota crew cab and have two nice decks in my possession. a Kenwood KDC-bt945u and a Clarion VZ401 DVD deck. Ive done a lot of researching on pre-out voltage but have seen so many opinions to as if it really does make a huge difference or not. Basically the Kenwood has 4v preouts and the Clarion has 2v. I like both decks but would love to have the dvd screen but not at a major loss of output or sound quality. My question is, will I notice a difference or should I go with the Clarion? Thanks,

Should I keep my old amp (Rockford 800.2) pushing 200 watts X 2 RMS (800 X 1 bridged) or my brand new Hifonics 1000D. Hard decision. =\ Is the Hifonics 1000 X 1 RMS? Or 1000 max power? I think my Hifonics can run more stable at 1 ohm.
