I'm going to be installing a stereo for my buddy in his JDM 1991 Mitsubishi J53 Jeep Turbo Diesel. The original radio was AM/FM with push in pre-set buttons (reminded me of my dad's old '67 Ford Galaxy 500XL Convertible). He's got some marine 6.5 coaxial speakers/pods he's mounting on the roll bar behind the driver and passenger's seats. The electrical is 24V (2 batteries wired in series). He bought a cheap no-name bluetooth media player and a 24V/12V converter. I know the fused "constant" wire from the stereo will connect to the 24V/12V converter but where do I get the 12V for the "ACC" ignition and remote/antenna wires from? All the wires shoot 24V-27V with the key in t…

Now im looking for a decent in dash to replace the 130 radio. Im just not quite sure what to look for...the last HU/Processor i bought was about 6 years ago (Alpine d310+h701) Thoughts/Suggestions/Links Please! Hey there. I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition and i have absolutely no bass in my car. I'm leaning towards a downfiring sealed enclosure with two 10" Alpine Type R 1023D. They peak at 1800watts and 600watts RMS. The sealed enclosure provides them with 0.85 cubic feet of air space per sub. What amplifier can really make these subs sound crisp, clean, and provide deep full bass? Hifonics? Kicker? JL audio? Any thoughts on the amp or the set up in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am installing a Jensen MCD 6115, and two Jensen power 760 amps in my boat. The reciever has output of 200 watts ( 50 x 4 ). After I hook up amps through rca preamps at reciever does that reciever 200 watts transfer through the amp? or can I still use those reciever speaker leads for 50 x 4?

ive been intrested in a in dash multimeadia player and i came across these, i dont feel like spending 800+ on an alpine or pioneer, so i thought these should be just fine..right? anyway, i narrowed it down to these 2 and it got average reviews from circuitcity and crutchfeild, but i cant really tell what the difference between the 2 besides the fact the vm9512 has 5 more watts rms....any help?? thanks ~ROB~ http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...M9412&tp=75 http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...M9512&tp=75

I have tried to read as much as possible to educate my self on the power needed to feed my 1000 watt peak system. It seems like the wisest first step would be to upgrade my alternator, then add a second deep cycle battery with a high ah rating and enough amps to supply the power. I have searched for high amp alternators for my 1991 omc ford 2.3 liter ford engine but I am told they dont exist. One person sugested haveing it worked on by a alternator shop and having them install a higher output kit . I would love to have a separate battery or two that I charge in between boat trips dedicated specificlly for the audio and leave the boat operating system alone. TO play my sys…

Okay, my brother picked up a JL Audio 1000/1v2 This thing has so many filters/settings it's very different from my sundown. What do they all mean? I've never messed with an amp with all these kind of settings. "Q" Center Freq Infrasonic Freq Filter Freq Mode/Slope -- Off/12/24 Input Voltage -- Low/High Input Sens

Lately my 1000/1 amp has been cutting out while playing loud music. right after it cuts out it starts back up in a few seconds. I looked at the amp while it shuts down and its giving the thermal protect light. for the last week it has been cutting off more and more often. Finally last night it bumped the volume up and it shut down and did not turn back on. I checked out my main power fuse from the front battery and it was blown? I have a 05 4-runner 1000/1 v1 powering a 13w7 wired @3 ohm stock head unit/speakers Big 3 stock alt no extra batteries 4 gauge power wire Had a extra optima in the trunk but took it out thinking the amp didn't need it since the 1000/1 has the vo…

I have never wired miltiple amps to one sub, so please bear with me. I have four JL Slash 1000/1v2's and two DP 21" 2 ohm dvc's. My question is; how do I wire two amps to each sub? Someone suggested that I wire each amp to each voice coil. As in wire one amp to one of the terminals on one sub, and another amp to the other on the same sub. Is this correct?

I have a JL 500/1 amp going to 2 memphis 10s. When we first installed every thing sounded great and plently of power. After a few days the amp went down on power and under cold start up it makes a buzzing or hissing noise from the amp. When the subs hit it goes away for a second , but it comes right back. at first it was making the noise for a few minites ,but know it is like 5 minintes after the start up. Does any body know what the noise is or why it doesn't have the power it used to??

Hi everyone, I have a JL Audio 500/1 that is blown. the green power light will come on, thats it; no safety light or anything. when it powers up the green light will come on but there is no output. Ive taken the boards out and looked them over. i have not noticed any visual problems but i could have missed something. does anyone know anything about these amps or how i can trouble shoot the problem! i live in Indianapolis, Indiana; if anyone lives close you can take a look. Thanks in advance. Eddie Gossett

There is a JL Audio 500/5 for sale in my local pawn shop for $250. Aesthetically speaking, it's in damn good condition. Has been mounted, but that's really it for scratches and such. I'm not interested in it, nor am I selling it, but figured I'd see if anyone else was interested in having me pick it up for them and them shipping it to them. Doesn't seem like a great price for it, but certainly not a bad one!

I have a JL 500/5 which is 100 rms ch 1 & 2 and 25 rms ch 3 & 4 I am thinking of using it to run my bravox cs60cf active. My biggest question is what should i do about the rear should i amplify the rear speakers (bravox cx60cf) or run them off the deck. The reason I ask is because I also have a JL e4300 4 channel amp. I have heard some people say dont amp the rears and some say you should amp them and i don't know what to do yet any help would be cool.

Hey guys... It's me again... This time wondering if I should pick this one up... Can get the JL Audio 300/2 for about $175.. I would be using it for my front stage... I would also like to get some recommendations for the front stage.... I will be removing the rear deck speakers to make subwoofer sound easier to travel into the cabin... Should I pull the trigger or are there other options out there? I have 4 amps that interest me and are within a reasonable price range... I don't think I want to be that close to the $300 mark... So help me out again guys... I just threw a reference Soundstream in there, although I know its over my apparent budget...lol

So I got my JL 500/1 for my sub setup Friday, didn't have time to install it til today... One issue... The amp doesn't seem to kick in until I hit about 50% of max on my Pioneer HU.. I know it is not the HU because it was beatin' in the morning with my old setup (Kenwood).. Two things happened when doing the "swap" of amplifiers... 1. Apparently one of the ring terminals on the wiring was shitty, and came out... 2. I replaced the terminal with a new one I bought at BestBuy just so I could get it done... When installing this onto the capacitor that was already in my car I accidentally touched the wire to both ends... Spark and sizzle but everything seemed ok... Now again..…

Hello everyone, I haven't posted here in a while, but I've been keeping myself current on the threads in the build logs section for sure. Some of you might remember my build log, and might also remember that once I got to the point where I could finally fire the thing up, I was having lots of trouble with noise. I tested and tested, and it turns out that it is my JL Audio 500/5 that's to blame (I installed another amp in its place and the problem was totally fixed). It's a high pitched beeping sound that changes evenly in frequency (up and down). Sometimes it actually sounds like a pack of dolphins from the nature shows... very bizarre. It makes this noise in all chan…
