I have a question can you send an alternator away to get built so it will put out more amps or is that something you could do at home with like a kit or would i just be better off buying a new bigger one? let me know what you all know/ think. Thanks!

when puting the fuses back in my amp i broke the thing that holds the fuse. so right now i am just running a lead (with a fuse in it) from the holder thats not broken to the power 12v on the amp. will this be ok to keep this way. or is it wasy to just heat up the solder and put a new holder in and where can i get one. could i get a in line fuse holder and run from one lead to another and solder them in. i cant run just one amp.. there in a common camber box all 4.

Going to be running an alpine pdx-f6 (60amp fuses), and alpine pcx-m6 (80amp fuses). Would 0ga just be over kill? These are going in the rear of a crew cab colorado and splitting at a distribution block. So it will be ether 0ga in and 2 4ga out or 4ga in and 2 4ga out. Thanks

Anyone know of any good ones? Not like a hand held, like one I can look at while I'm driving or sitting in my seat or something. Like this stinger one, but I just want to see what others there are, and your opinions on some you own... http://cgi.ebay.com/STINGER-SVMB-VOLTMETER...8QQcmdZViewItem or http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m303/cH...cs/P1020013.jpg (bottom of the pic)

I installed a stinger voltage display in my car about a week ago. Since then ive noticed that ill be driving around and all the sudden the voltage will drop from 14.4 to 12.5~4. But if i change anythin power consumpiton in car, (i.e. rolling down windows, blinker, turning my lights on, a/c on. and also when i hit the brakes or change gears) the voltage goes back up to 14.5 for a few seconds and sometimes goes back down to 12.5 and other times it will stay back up at 14.5 I thought it might be my connections, so i hooked two DMM in my car. One run to my battery pos and neg, and the other run to my alternator + post to my battery neg. Once i was driving around again and not…

Whats going on SSA. Need some advice on this wiring/electrical decision I need to make. I was running ~1000wrms on my old setup, I currently have a single run of 4 gauge Knu OFC (~20 feet) to the back where I have a distribution block. Now I upgraded amps and I will be running ~1400wrms (changed amps more because of space constraints, bigger box so less space for amps). Amplifiers have fuse ratings of 120 and 50 amps. Now Knu claims a maximum rating of 150 amps on their 4 gauge (even though they provide a 120 amp fuse for their kit), I was wondering if I should add another run of 4 gauge to the back so I would have separate runs for each amp. Or would a run of Knu 8 …

http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?14&pid=149 i wanted to experiment with my stock system and this sounded like a cool adapter to use with an aftermarket HU. How does it work? does it somehow bypass the HU's internal amp?

Im getting a second battery soon for my truck and i was wondering how to install it. I know you wire positive to positive ans neg to neg but after i wire the batteries together do i run a wire from the second batteries neg to the ground spot on the amp? And i just wire the 2nd batts positive to the power on the amp right? I also plan on grounding the alt case, and both battery negs to the frame. Good idea?

  15. Working on buddys stereo today in his jeep. Already had 3amps hooked up and everything was working perfectly fine. Was installing a fourth amp for his bullet tweeters. After wiring everything up and splitting the remote wire again to run a strand to the tweeter amp and turned the car on and none of the amps powered up...... Anybody ever encounter this problem or has any advice of what the issue is. Fuses are all good double checked remote wiring at amps and hu. Just weird never had such a thing happened to me before with a simple amp instal nor have i ever needed 4amps either. Very much appreciate your input.

I'm now looking to upgrade to 1/0 wire in my truck. I've been told to use reducers to get the wire down to 4 gauge in my amp. Why should I use these on pure ofc wire when Idk what the reducer is made of? Why not just trim the wire down the fit snuggly in the 4 gauge inputs?? Since one reduced on knukonceptz is like 4 bucks. Pretty steal for somethin I don't see totally necessary. Is it possible the reducer would hinder power flow as opposed to just trimming?? Oppinions on recuders?

No higher end, high output alternator manufacturers make a alt to fit my car even trying to retrofit isn't possible. I do have a 220 from powerbastards that utilizes a stock casing and after a month my battery light started coming on. But I think I have some good news. After taking it to a specialist It does 220 like PB says but the voltage regulator went bad but everything else is working fine and he'll replace the regulator and says there shouldn't be a problem anymore in fact the build (constuction) of the alt was good even the ratio of windings (voltage) vs diameter (current/amps) was ideal. The one issue with the regulator was amp draw between the rotor and what the …

  20. so, im borrowing her mustang for a week, and shes using mine but shes got a few problems i wanna check to make sure before i do anything. 1. after about 2 hours, it all cuts off... im thinking cuz her amp gets too hot. its a dual 600w amp i think, and its powering the inside speakers, and her 10" xplod. should i rewire the inside speakers to her head unit? only bad thing is its a 4 channel amp i think. so, how would i get that working with just 1 10" sub? or should i leave that alone? 2. hermusic lately has just been cutting off for now reason. i THINK the fuse on the power wire from the amp is loose cuz when you wiggle it around the fuse, it works again. mabe i should r…
