Ok i am in the need of a new alternator for my truck. The stock one that i have is a 65 amp model. My future plans are 2 10" or 12" icons, and 2 1000 sundowns, or 1 1500 soundown. I am planning on getting my alt rebuilt to 150 amps, or get a 200 amp powermaster. I'll be running between 2 and 4 batteries in my bed box(Deka Intimidator Battery's for now). Ill be running atleast one run of 1/0 or 2/0 to each battery in the back (maybe overkill, but i dont want there to be a big a drop in the voltage). I have talked to a couple of mechanics and they all say that if i upgrade my alternator to that many amps that i will be running the chance of catching my truck on fire due…

  2. Went out to my truck and followed the directions verbatim. Set my multimeter to read AC voltage, threw the 50hz tone up on the deck, and checked the voltage at the speaker terminals on my amp. I got nowhere near 30v, only 5.6v to start. Mind you, the gain level was at 3/4 at this point. What am I doing wrong?

just wondering, if there is any mainstream manufactured gadget for converging multiple 1/0 into a single 1/0 input like that found on the stesom amps. i'm looking for maximum flow/least resistance for an instantaneous dump of power for a single burp. this'll be a single 12 on 2 stetsom 7k e's in a crx. i know others have custom cnc's things, or buss bar type feeders, but just seeing if i can get away with not fabricating something.

I have a question can you send an alternator away to get built so it will put out more amps or is that something you could do at home with like a kit or would i just be better off buying a new bigger one? let me know what you all know/ think. Thanks!

does anybody know what size kinetik or powermaster will fit under hood of expedition? I am going to run either powermaster 3100 or couple kinetik 2000s in back, but expedition has side post in front, and not much clearance for hood.

hey guys, I'm plannig on running 1 Sundown Audio 3000 to either a 1 15" OR 1 18" FI BTL. What do I need to power this bad boy?? hah. I already did the research and I can get my hands on a 250amp h/o alt. Now the bad part is that im running this in A VW Golf so the space is minimal and going to be very tight for this build. I dont plan on doing competitions, its more for a daily car. Any idea what I need? I'm definately swapping out my primary battery (stock)...anything else? Cheers, Andrew

I've been considering getting a new sub amp, mainly looking to switch to class D for the increased efficiency. I'm currently running a Rubicon 702 on my sub and a 100w amp on my highs, and my lights dim at night when driven hard. My final system will consist of about double that much power, so I'm looking to switch my sub amp to something more efficient since I don't want to do any electrical upgrades other than upgrade the battery. I'm looking for something that'll do ~700-800w into 4ohm, 1200w+ into 2ohm, and being 1ohm stable would be nice just to keep my sub options open in the future. Had my eye on a RF T10001bd since I've seen some pretty insanely high efficiency…

My first question when you change the bass level, middle level and treble level it controls all speakers including the ones on the amp? The levels go from -8 to 8, right now I have the bass at -6 (usually its at -8), the middle at 4 and the treble at 8. How do you tailor made these settings. My second question is the bass level has a Bass F(40-120hz, I keep it at 40hz), Bass Q(1.00-2.00, I keep it at 2.00) and Bass Extend (off/on, I keep it on). Could anybody explain what these settings should be around or what they mean (I know bass F is frequency) or if I should even mess with them? My third question is the middle level has a Middle F (500-2,000hz, I keep it at 500hz ),…

  14. first off im a 16 year old kid with little experience. ive done a few installs before but not very many. i have a single bl 15 on a sundown sae-1200d. but anyways my friend has a 1998 dodoge dakota and i was attempting to put a brand new kenwood head unit in it. and when i was wiring the after market harness to the head unit harness there were some weird wires. theres two harnesses to wire, one has 3 of 4 speakers and the remote wire on it and the other has power, ignition, illumination, dimmer, right front negative, amplifier ground, and mute. there is no wire from after market harness for left front negative but the one that says amp ground is the same color (white and…

I'm wondering why when I changed from 300w @ 4 ohms on my amp, to 600w @ 2 ohms I havn't noticed an increase in current draw. I just picked up a couple Z15s off a seller on here that listed them as DVC4 ohm, and I'm only running one of them due to lack of power/trunk space. I have it wired up to my sae1000d in parallel to get a 2 ohm load. I just pulled a 2 12s out that were wired @ a 4 ohm load on the amp, so I'm going from the 300w @ 4ohm to 600w @ 2ohm. I didn't adjust the gain because the voltage is the same at about 35 volts. But since I'm doubling the amount of wattage being used, shouldnt it be pulling 2 times as much current? The output is about the same as the 2 …

  17. I was planning on purchasing two RF P3D2 12's (600rms each) in a ported enclosure and need help on picking the right amp for them. I am stuck inbetween the RF T-1000.1 which has a posted 1000rms and the RF T-500.1 that outputs 500rms both at 2 ohms. The problems is that RF apparently under rates their amps and i've seen some "birth sheets" of both these amps going over 100rms-500rms of the posted rms on the RF website. I don't want to over power these subs or under power them too much. Any help for choosing the correct amp for these subs would be appreciated.

do two runs of 1/0 awg 1 for ground and 1 for power or just ground to my chasis? i dont plan on running a ton of power. around 2000rms total. i do plan on adding a couple batteries though. i already have a run of hyperflex for power and picking up another 24ft in a few hours. i know running the ground to the batt has less reistance than a chasis ground but would i really notice anyhing between the two with such little power? if i dont do another run i can do my big 3 today, but i would rather do two runs while my car is apart than doing 1 run and big 3 and come back and tear everything apart again.

  20. Hello, I have a '12 mustang with the factory head unit and I want to power the door speakers and a sub. Is there a way to do this without replacing the head unit? My air controls are integrated into the same panel and there are no aftermarket options for me that look nice, and did I mention the faceplates are $300 and up? not including the double din I think a line output converter would be the normal solution but how do you get 3 sigals out of one?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering about the capability of a USB splitter operating off of a head unit. I'm specifically talking about an Alpine CDA-9886 but this would apply to any HU that has a rear USB port. The reason I'm asking this is because if I ever wanted to use a flash drive rather than an Ipod. It's not practical to use a flash drive for those kinds of decks. I'd be getting a 1 male input/4 female output cable, but I have to know if it would work first. Thanks again for the help!

All my previous amps have had a ssf with a 24db slope I have set 1/2 octave below tuning. My new amp has 12db slope and is 2000 watts more power than my old amp . My tuning is at 33hz on two sundown U10 putting 2500 to each sub so would best bet be to set the ssf at the tuning?
