Wanting to add to my existing alarm, thinking about adding perhaps two exterior sirens, current one is hurting. Also like the idea of having one or two piezo sirens inside the cabin. I have seen these refered to as pain generators. Any of you have input on particular brands which might stand above others in performance? I also wanted to know if adding the additional sirens and alarms will require any additional wiring aspects, I guess I mean can I just wire multiple sirens or will I need additional installation knowledge or products? Thanks for your help and input. Chop

I and a friend (electrical engineer) are going to build an amp for a custom install. Anyone here done this? We are in need of some manufacturing parts. We need to find a generic amp case, dc/dc boost converter 12v to 40v 1000watts, and misc parts like terminal blocks and such. We can sacrafice on old US amps for parts but would love to build it with all new stuff! BTW its going to be a 150watt per channel x5 amp for in car theater!

  3. yeah, so today after work, i installed all my 0 gauge wiring from that 5 gauge that was in there before. i also went from the little 60 amp fuse under the hood to a 250 amp fuse. now before the switch, everything sounded good. nice stead, clean bass. but ever since i put in the 0 gauge wire, it gets louder, then softer and loud again and doesnt sound very clean. i messed with the setting on the amp to see if anything had changed and still got the same results. any ideas on what this could be? i also installed new RCA's if that matters.

Ok so heres the deal. I have one of these and i just ordered a 15 Fi BTL dual 1, everythin except the cooling. My question is if i were to get a second sub again dual 1 and wire them both to 2 ohm that would be one ohm at the amp right? Also if i were to strap another amp it would still equal one ohm at both amps right?

I'm planning on using some exotic wiring on being able to switch from 2ohm to 0.5ohm for competition via a switch so i do not have to rewire for an hour at every show. I see some copper made 80A relays. What i want to know is this, here is my scenario- Maximum burping current draw can be up to 85A AC. So i opted to use 2 80A relays per speaker in parallel for 160A of heat dissipation. Since Relays only use 10AWG quick disconnects, will quick disconnects be sufficient enough for this wiring? I plan on running modded inserts for 4awg wiring off each terminal of sub to a junction block. Then from there, 10awg to each relay pin, output to another junction box of 8…

Hey this is my first post, and off the bat let me say I am no audio genius nor am I close. I was refered here by Helotaxi, and I'm sure you guys can answer any questions I have. So that said, I am in the market for a Audio/Video head unit, that has Ipod control, mp3,cds, and all that good stuff. Someone on my car forums (SRTForums.com) was selling a Pioneer AVH 57000 I believe for 500$. It has the ipod adapter already, and the switch so you can watch while on the road. Anyways I was wondering if you guys could point me in the direction of a great AV unit for around that price, or if you have any tips or anything else. Thanks You. -Mykel

I bought a usa-425 from Ryan, the amp looks great and everything, but when hooked up...... nothing. Im thinking its the preouts on my headunit. What is the best way to test this theory out? Besides hooking the amp up to another headunit? Also, if it is the preouts anyone know how these are fixed, if at all? Thanks

Only thing i can think of is shaving them down.. Then i saw another thread were it was lots of + runs and only 1 - run , which seems pointless if the power has to flow in and out.

  15. I've got a P3002 that was missing the chrome cover when I bought it. I've searched all over, RFs site, watched ebay for about a month and never seen one. Anyone know where I could find one, or maybe point me in the right direction? Obviously its just cosmetic, but I'm in the process of a major rebuild, and am going to have my amps showcased, so it would be nice to have the chrome cover for it. Thanks for the help.

  22. I would like to ask this question as a thought experiment to determine if I am properly understanding the following relationships with wiring and power. Our speakers get AC out of our amps and our amps get DC from our power system. The DC power does not have frequency as it is a single flowing direct current and as such the flow of electrons through any wire have ZERO skin effect as skin effect is only applicable with frequency of transmission. What does play a part in power capacity however is the material of which the wiring is made of and how it is made. The total measured DC resistance of a cable of X size will be lower in copper material than it wi…
