Has anyone else had the whining noise from the RCAs with the 880? I was switching around some wiring today, accidently touched a speaker wire to the ground wire on the amp and all of a sudden I hear a whining when I turn the vehicle back on. When I grounded a single RCA on the front pre-out the sound nearly went away, still there just barely audible So a couple quick questions about this.... When grounding the RCA would I have to do it to every pre-out being used? (white and red of all 3 pre-outs if all were being used?) Is there a nicer looking way of doing this? Should the deck just be sent to pioneer to be fixed instead?

Tracy, I saw some info in here the other day about the newer amp lines. I was hoping for a refresher and also wondering along the lines of AB power... 750X2 @ 1 or 4 Ohms or so, maybe 1500 @ 2Ohms. Basically I mant alot of controll, like one of the new lines seemed to offer. I am going to be powering 2 Brahmas (I needed a little more umph ). I am hoping to keep them in a foot each so power needs to be about 750-1100 or so per driver. I like the Cadence Z1500, or a pair of Z9000s. I am even kicking DEI around (2400D) but it is a D amp. I really want an AB. Also I was wondering if you might hit me some rough prices up. Thanks Bud, Seth

Ok well i got rid of the D3, and got a CDA-9887. LOL, bid difference i know. But before i've even done any sound setup or tweaking my subs instantly sounded better after they were turned on. But DAMN there are alot of sound options. I tried for 10 mins just to setup the HPF so i can take the bass out of the front and rear speakers to no avail. Needless to say at this point i feel kinda dumb. But i've been really busy today so i haven't had a chance to read the manual. I knew this deck had alot of options but man this is rediculous. I still have the stock hi's in my car but i plan on changing them out. And i know that everyone is going to say go ACTIVE. So before…

So I have a very annoying problem and need some advice on how to address it! It seems that I have some serious static noise from the radio. I've done some intensive testing over the weekend, and come to one conclusion. Is that the noise is coming directly from the radio itself. I will list some of the things I've done over the weekend to come to this conclusion. Swap the amplifier for a known good amplifier, problem presist Swap radio with known good radio, problem goes away Swap my rca's into a known good amp(different vehicle), problem goes away Swap rca's from known good radio from another vehicle into my radio, problem is now in that vehicle Ground rca to headunit c…

Can someone recommend me a good pioneer headunit? I'm trying to keep it on the cheap side, around 100-130 bucks. It will be used in a '95 suburban and i was also going to be running 2 12" L7s (not sure if that matters). I just want it to sound good and go well with my subs.

so after finally getting everything tuned to where i wanted and set-up i was driving around for a little bit and then out of nowhere there is no bass... pulled over right then and checked the amp.. blue power light is on, no sign of protect mode at all. after work i got home and checked my fuses, all is fine. other speakers are normal, but when i checked speaker outputs from amp there is 0 volts. how do i fix this? hope its not that bad, was just starting to enjoy it all again! its a sundown SAZ-1500D, I've only had it a couple months, but i did get it from Db-r.com, but he does good work, no?

Well I guess I'll be keeping my monte(and probably a bike come spring)... and getting some new goodies in the coming months First thing is a new alt. I know iraggi is having a group buy right now, but I don't know exactly how confident I feel with him. And even if the group buy gets 30people paid i'm still gonna be spending 270 atleast for 200amp(105 idle which i thought was low?) So I got ahold of nate over at excessive amperage he said he could do me a 200amp for 270shipped... which is probably cheaper than iraggi and he seems like a nice car. I know a couple guys have had problems with him(some group buy he did?)... I searched but what is your guys opinion on his pr…

Hi,I was wanting some guidance on where i should take my electrical to minimize voltage drops. The amps are: hifonics BRZ2100.1 and a soundstream RUB500.4 Electrical: 150A alternator, shuriken BT-80 and shuriken BT-20 (both measure a good 12.7-12.9). 4 gauge big 3, 4 gauge to the soundstream and 0 to the hifonics I was aiming more for a bigger alternator. According to math, give or take a 14.4V crank 14.4v/2600w=180.5A. I'm not sure what current the car is drawing from that. would i be safe with a 240A alternator or do i need to just go 270? and would upgrading the big 3 to 0 be necessary? Thanks!

Hey guys, I've got a Pioneer DEH 4100 (as the title implies) and it's suffering from a few annoying malfunctions. 1) Sometimes it will independently skip forward through a song, but does not beep to indicate this and it seems to be a pretty random occurrence. Even if it did beep, it still pisses you off. Some of my songs suffer from different volumes, so I go from, like, Ray Charles to a goddamn Children of Bodom song at a higher volume. My ears leave my body for a time. 2) I leave my iPod plugged in via USB, and what used to happen when I'd start the car was that the head unit would automatically start the iPod up. Now, it is about 30% of the time that it starts up a…

I have a sundown x10 d4 in a 2.0ft^3 box tuned to 31 hertz. I have been searching for an amp to run this sub for the past 2 months and can't come up with anything on a budget. My budget is about 400$ and I would like to put 1500 rms on the sub at 2 ohms. I have a second alternator to just power my system it's just your average 150 amp with a run of 1/0 sky high to a xs power 975. Anyone have any suggestions for an amp?

just got this idea sitting in econ today listening to my awful TA talk about derived demand for labor... I know normally the alt isn't used for transient loads, but would it be at all possible to hook up a power wire to the alt and send it straight to the amp, using a high capacity cap somewhere along the way to stiffen the voltage during amp draws? I was thinking that in this scenario, the cap would be acting just like a battery

long story short. stupid on my part. but i am in the process of getting a thing built so i can hold my box and amp down, without having to screw into the seat or false floor. so for the time being it is freely hanging out in the back of my jeep. the sub slides around alot, the amp barely moves. well saturday night i was driving around with frineds, and went to a part of town i rarely go too, and witht he fresh snow on the ground i didn't see a speed bump (no signs...) well i hit it and i looked int he reiw view mirror, i saw my sub slide, but not really go in the air. i heard my tool box fly up, and i'm assuming my amp did too, as they were by eachother. after it landed,…

So I just picked up a box and 2x10 Rockford Fosgate subs for my Ram. So the subs are 4 ohm 150watt RMS each with a peak of 300watt. Here's the problem. I listen to rock mainly so I don't care about a TON of bass, but I do like a good amount. The subs are bridged or whatever, and that's where I don't know what amp to get without spending a fortune. The two subs don't have two wires each I guess that's what bridged means? So my question is, what channel, RMS, ohm all that stuff, what would be the best amp for me? I'm so lost and the audio guy near my house is just trying to make money off of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, I haven't posted here in a while, but I've been keeping myself current on the threads in the build logs section for sure. Some of you might remember my build log, and might also remember that once I got to the point where I could finally fire the thing up, I was having lots of trouble with noise. I tested and tested, and it turns out that it is my JL Audio 500/5 that's to blame (I installed another amp in its place and the problem was totally fixed). It's a high pitched beeping sound that changes evenly in frequency (up and down). Sometimes it actually sounds like a pack of dolphins from the nature shows... very bizarre. It makes this noise in all chan…
