  5. Hey, guys. I could really use to help. I have a side by side with an audio system consisting of a tiny Bluetooth “head unit” with a strange DIN audio output, a 4 channel amp, 4 6x9s, and a 10” subwoofer. (Made by Pro Box). All this stuff is in the roof of the vehicle. I want to add another subwoofer to the system. How can I add another amp? I’m attaching photos of the head unit, amplifier, and a cable that I think might be my solution but I’m not sure. I believe the mini din wire is the audio output from the head unit and that there are no red and white RCA cables. I could be wrong. I have not torn into the roof enclosure yet. If someone has knowledge of t…

I never thought that choosing a headunit would require so much time and energy. Once I pick one I start having 2nd thought because of reviews or various other reasons. I have owned Kenwood units in the past with pretty good luck. I went to my local Best Buy to check some options out in person. The Kenwood units appealed to me the most. They seemed much more user friendly witha nicer interface. Just my opinion though. I don't need every option available, but these things are important.... Amp output. 1-2 Cameras. Able to play DVDs or youtube for my daughter. 6.95in screen or bigger. Screen tilt/Dimming is helpful. Under $350/Doesn't have to be…

Hello. I need help selecting an amp for a Cerwin Vega 12" Stoker. My budget is $500. I had my eyes set on a Hifonics XXV- Colossus. Supposedly it's rated 1x3200@ 2-Ohms, which sounds like more than enough to power a stroker efficiently, but after some reading in this forum, the brand now sounds like borderline garbage. I also hear that this speaker requires a very large custom box, or is that also a myth? I have a 99 Crown Vic, so space is no object. Is there anyone here that builds them, or online? If not can anyone help me with specs to take to a local audio shop? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  9. I need help choosing an amplifier for a Kicker CVT 10 that I’m going to purchase soon. But if one 10 isn’t good enough for me I was planning on getting a second one. So what I was wondering is if there is a sub that I can start out with and give it the power the one sub requires and also if I were to wire up a second CVT 10 to the amp, also have those two subs well powered. I’d like to get the most out of my sub(s). So if someone could please advise me on this! I have had a suggestion of getting a Kicker CX600.1. (new model). Which is 4 ohms: 300 watts x 1 chan. 2 ohms: 600 watts x 1 chan. TheKicker CVT 10 is RMS: 400 Peak: 800 The reason why I’m getting such a smal…

Hi- I've needed a new alternator for a while and I'm finally starting to get my money up to purchase some upgrades. My 2000 Volvo S40 has a small alternator in a cramped engine compartment so most companies don't make alternators for it. DC Power and Ohio generator will make something for me, but I'm not sure which is the best scenario. I have an IA 40.1 (3600+ rms) and RF T4004 elite (~100x4). DC power quoted me ~$800-900 for a 270XP alternator. ~200 amps at idle, 270 max. This would be fine for my current system, but it's quite pricy and I could not buy new batteries this summer. Ohio generator quoted me ~$350-450 for a ~120A at idle (my stock max), and 200A max. Since …

  15. I'm at my wits end trying to figure this problem. I don't know it's my amp, battery, or alternator. I have one Kicker sub amp and one Alpine 4 channel amp. The problem lies with the 4 channel amp, it keeps turning on and off. It only happens randomly. I have checked all connections and they are tight. I checked all fuses and they are good. I also have relocated the ground for the 4 channel amp but the problem still continues. The gains are not maxed at all on both amps. I have checked the voltages multiple times and there are the results : All measurements are at car idle. Both amps on : 13.79 volts - 13.81 volts Both amps on and AC running : 13.79 volts Both amps on, AC…

  16. So for about the past week or two, my speakers keep cutting out. I've tried to find a pattern in their behavior but it APPEARS random. Sometimes they will play for a few songs and then cut in and out in 10 second increments, sometimes they will cut out for 5-10 minutes straight. I thought they might just be over heating (it has been really hot here in Md and the amps are mounted behind the seat) but the amp's thermal warning has not been going off. What's also strange is the sub continues to hit flawlessly. I've walked around with a volt meter and do not see any issues from battery to amp. Possibly related, my check engine light comes on and off and one of my ebay HID fo…

  20. I was given this amp and plan on installing it tomorrow but im having no luck finding the rms of this amp. I thought I found that it was 50x4 but the picture of that amp was different than mine. The heat sink on mine overhangs two inchs on each side. Amp says Memphis PBC 4400. I took some pictures but with my iPad but they're a little blurry. Will be running an image dynamics component set off of this. I need to know if I can bridge them or if this amp puts out too much for that.

Hey Friends... I just wanted to know how do you have your music hooked up? Are you running your wires from the battery or from the positive on the alternator? Right now I have 2 TC Sound 18' Ultra lLMS with a 200 amp alternator one red top batt one 1400 kinetik and 4 hc2000 kinetiks with one IA40.1 amp waiting on the other one. My plan is run two or three lines with the big three already done. I am trying to keep my volts up pass 13.5 when the bass hits. Please advise me on what to do. Do I need better batteries or 16v batteries. Do I need a Isolator or not when hooking up four or more batteries? I will be flying back to the states in two days and if some one could help m…

im lookin for an HO alt for my truck. i have been to iraggi, mean-green, etc etc. send emails to the ones that didnt have ratings on them (ie, mean green. cost but no amperage rating) i have been researching the companies for the past 3 or so days. and i can tell you, IM FREAKIN SCARED! ive heard horror stories from all the companies. ngsm had a mean green with a misaligned bearing, tons of iraggi alt failures and a few doa, EVEN MORE DOAS from excessive. and i cant afford an ohio gen (even though i heard 2 chit stores about them as well). so here is my question is it really worth to get an HO alternator? i am running a 20.1 at 1 ohm right now (and from the test i saw on …

So I get to the alt shop and talk to the guy. We test my alt with a clamp meter and a volt meter. Here is the results. No accesories 12.7@600rpm 13.9@700rpm 14.5@900+rpm Acc on (no stereo, just lights and A/C) 11.8@600rpm 13.6@700rpm 14.5@900+rpm Now here is the part that gets me. The alt shop told me that I do not need a smaller pully. Shop: "You need another battery and an isolator." Me: Why??? Shop: You have plenty of amps but low voltage. Me: OK, another battery run by itself is going to help? Shop: Sure it will... Me: please explain this to me? Shop: the second battery will no longer be tied to any of the other accories in your truck. Me: thats fine and all, b…
