Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical

i was told i need to get an amp for this, is this correct and about how much money should it cost?(i dont want to be ripped-off really) also, would bass damage any head unit?(like the disc reader and whatnot?)

I got a brand new aq1200d and after i wired everything up the amp has power and has plenty of it, getting almost 14 volts while the car is running, but there is no signal getting sent out from the amp. Ive tested it with a known good rca cable and even used an ipod to eliminate the head unit but still no sound. I don't know what to check now. The amp is not going into protected mode. Going to call audioque 2night after class and see if they have any input. any advise before i go crazy lol

Well it took me forever but i got my 250 amp Mechman alt in this weekend, had to get a different size belt to run it... well problem is my car is sitting at 11 - 11.3 volts!!!! even with the stock alt it would hit 14... i dropped a pretty penny on this, and its way worse than my stock. i have had the big 3 on for 6 months. is this bad for my car? i have a long road trip coming up ion a couple weeks and this needs to be fixed. whats my problem????

I just came across this company- Titanium Power They manufacturer amps that seem pretty intense but nobody sells them... Odd isn't it... Anyways, i'm trying to find out if i ever found a company that sells them... if they are any good... I ask because i like the TM8800.1D 8,800w @ 1ohm.

i have an 03 mazda protege dx...it's i tiny four door car similar to a civic in size....the alt is a stock 80 amp the problem is they do not make a HO alt for this car...i have one yellow top under the hood and i guess it's getting old now considering the voltage is getting lower when i am hittin hard.. i do have s 2.5 farad cap and i know it doesn't cure the problem! but i'm afraid of adding another battery in the trunk because wouldn't that make it harder on the altenator to charge 2 batteries?? Amp is a titanium 2400 Subs 2 15" fi Q's voltage drops to like 11.8 to 11.3 the lowest! any way of working around this? or do i need to add another batterie?

Hey I'm really looking to get a Fi Q but was wondering about the dual 2 ohm coils....are they really 1.75? And is it safe to wire them to a one ohm load on an Audioque 1200d amp?

Has someone out there tested the American Bass vfl-120.1 maybe some 14 an 16v numbers? Thanks for any help.

I have found these locally for one hell of a deal. I have read mixed reviews on them and was wondering if you would buy them to use. They are brand new and can get them for around 100 a piece. Here is the link to them http://www.cdstandbypower.com/application/...ups/upshrm.html. The ones the guy has are spec'd as follows: sealed agm 95ah at 20hr rate, 350watt at 15min. Now I know these are'nt powermasters, but the slide easily into budget and actually let me buy more fuse holders and wire if they'll work. thanks.

Is the Deka decent at start vehicles? My dad offered to put $200 to a new battery for me, and I have heard nothing but good things about the Deka's. Anyone have any major problems? And how does it compare to the Optima Yellow Top?

Im on a tight budget and am not resorting to Hifonics, so my other option is Audioque 1200D. I know a lot of people on here are Sundown lovvers, but I havent heard anything bad about Audioque other than 1 person having a problem on here a long time ago. Anyone got anything they could share with Audioque, I know the son or father 1 of the 2 also owns and runs Digital Designs, so cant be all that bad right?

Ok, I'm making myself look stupid asking this, because I pretty much know the answer, (no). But, what if I do multiple runs of 12 gauge wire from the battery to the amplifier? The 12 gauge wire I have is from Sears, I have 500 feet of it, it says it handles 600V if that matters at all. Anyways, my real question is, how many runs of 12 gauge wire should I use to power the amplifier? It's gonna be running at 4 ohms, possibly 1 ohm later, it's rated to do 750 RMS at 4 ohms, 1500 RMS at 2 ohms, and it's 'unstable' at 1 ohm, but these are the same amplifiers Steve Meade used before he got his new ones, and he ran them at 1 ohm just fine after removing a certain diode, which I …

Ok so i have been looking to a H.O. alt for my car and i cant find one anywhere. I have a Nissan Quest 1996.

in the pinned topic, it says "Gain Setting Equation Voltage of the output = sqrt(RMS Power X impedance of the speaker)" i have a 2ohm DVC sub, so is my impedance 2ohms? or 4ohms? (2[dvc]*2ohms) or 1ohms because i'm putting it as a 1 ohm load onto my sub? the DVC is what throws me off here, the thread doesn't specify whether it matters or not. it also says to stick the positive and negative into the amp terminal... well my amp has 4 (2 of each polarity) terminals, should i use the negative from one set, adn the postive from the other? ex) A+ and B-? or ex) A+ and A-? thats my amp.

So I am in the market for some batteries. I like the Kinetik, however they are a bit rich for my blood at the moment. $699CDN for a single battery is a little steep. I have access to Stinger and Shuriken batteries at a really good price. The Shuriken batteries look to have similar specs with the Kinetik. Alright, I can get this amp for 350$ maybe a little cheaper. Would this be good for an 18" btl? I don't want to push 4400 rms, becuase my box is 7cb ft, so I figure I could just put the gain down a great amount. I know these are power hungry, but aren't tehy like 450 amp draw? I would have 2 C&D tech batteries (88 amp/hr with a rating of 340 watts/cell), 2 ought wiring, 200 amp alt, and soon down the line upgraded under the hood batt. Would that be sufficient? Would these be a good match if I set the gain according to like 2500 watts?

Which is better Passive or Active? After askin on other threads i figured out the difference, but not sure which one is best. All i can figure is Passive would be better because you can use one channel of amplification and get 2 or 3 way crossover, and have that one channel power 2 or 3 speakers. So = better use of power. For Active you need one channel for one speaker. so more power is required by needing more channels, but that give you more control, right? Will one sound better than the other?

Does anyone in lower/central Michigan have an O-Scope?? I would really like to use one on my setup! I live in the Marshall/Albion/Jackson Area and would be willing to drive 100 mi. or so to use one!
