I recently installed another amp and some 6x9's in my car along with my existing sub amplifier, I have some obnoxious engine noise going on now that wasn't there or noticable before the install. My power wire and RCA's are ran on seperate sides of the car, The amps do have a common chassis ground in the trunk. Is the engine noise because of the shared ground? If you need anyother info please let me know. Thanks for the help.

So I was just curious when wiring a voltmeter to my amp, can I just put the power, remote, and negative wire directly into the amp where the battery wires are put in? Or do I have to try and splice them into a "Y" right before they enter the amp?

Has anyone ever seen a JL audio HD1200/1 amp dyno'd. I'm just curious as to what kind of power they actually produce. Seems like every other amp in existence has been tested except the HD and slash 1200's. I'm guessing but I would think they do slightly over rated like 1250watts just curious if anyone has tested them or knows for sure.

alright figured i would star a new topic ablout this. I came across this topic and thought this would be a good way to go. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9618 So if i was to go this way i wouldent have to get an new expensive headunit. But are there any other amps i could use for this that are a little cheaper.

  5. Sunday i finally got my amp installed at the local shop.. (soundstream ref 2.640) I drive an 06 xterra so we put it in "gully" of the back above the spare tire. Drove home.. noticed a slight smell figured it was the amp burning in... drove to work monday am.. no issues .. driving home monday the amp started cutting out on me.. got home lifted the "cover" of the area where the amp was noticed it was VERY VERY hot to touch and the amber light on .... figured wow guess there is not enough airflow..and the amp over heated...(not sure if you ever saw the back of an xterra but this is a big space) so figured i would just take the cover off... drove to work this am.. no proble…

I am doin some searchin and plan on posting a lot of amps on here with peoples feedback to them and hee is the first to start- Bazooka MGA11500H This amp has been specifically optimized to produce it's most power @2ohms but still be 1ohm stable! What is so good about this is when your impedance curve rises over areas that you wish were louder, this amp will pretty much make that happen. For example - wire a sub to 1 ohm, put it on a 1ohm amp, it will not hit the 1 ohm mark on the amp but on average may hover around 2 ohms. This isn't exact science obviously but you get the picture. So, the specs for this amp- 810w @4ohms 1,550w @2ohms 1,222w @1ohm Comes with advanced p…

I am looking to but 1 18" BTL Fi subwoofer. I can build the box (i hope) and can do a proper job installing it. I have a sufficient enough amp sending 3500 watts continuous power its way. I have 0ga power wire ran 10ga speaker wire. But i have the stock alternator and battery. Is this a problem? would a nice cap handle the difference? Or what should i get to solve the problem?

Me personally do not like threads like the one i am making currently.. but i just need suggestions for my brother. He's getting (2) 15" BTLs for a 99 Dodge Dakota RT. I need amp suggestions, either.. (2) 2k amps that can be strapped OR (1) 4k amp The amps can be around 2k or 4k. We've thought about AQ2200 and SAZ-4500D Thanks, BanginGMC.

If this specific question has been covered, or if this is posted in the wrong place, I apologize. I have not seen it yet on my research. I purchased an armdso nano O-Scope at a good deal, and figured I could maybe use it to tune my amp finally. I know the dmm method of tuning, but I figured why not try it with my oscope. The only thing is, my knowledge is non existent with electronics ironically. How would you tune it with a 1 probe x1-x10 with an alligator ground clip? I assume the probe just goes in the positive part of the amp to tune it, and the alligator goes on a ground source? The one I purchased does not have a 3.5mm jack with the black and red probes. It is a sin…

So I was browsing eBay for an amp to power my gf's Dcon coming in within the next day or two, and I came across this... LANZAR 800 W 2 Channel High Power MOSFET Amp VCT2010 Now before I'm flamed for even mentioning lanzar on SSA, realize that this is for my gf's car, not anything major. Just some bass on a budget.. (Good budget 10" sub) My question: Would this be something optimal for my situation? It says it's 2 ohm bridgeable, @ 800 watts, so in reality, about 400-500 watts. The sub is a D4. I could wire in parellel into a 2ohm load and bridge to this amp and have it powered about right for it's RMS rating. For the price, I didn't think this could be that bad.. especia…

I've been watching a few videos of people using the Steve Meade/D'Amore Engineering DD-1 Distortion Detector for setting their gains and also in identifying if and where the head-unit output begins to distort (max safe listening volume). Anyone use this before or know anyone that has? Whats the verdict on this thing? Just asking out of curiosity, i've always set mine by ear anyway but it does look interesting. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_61378_SMD-DD-1-Distortion-Detector-Analyzer-by-Steve-Meade-Designs.html

  22. Hey guys, buying a new amp soon, past two used sundown amp purchases fell through so im just gonna go with one of these. My only question is which one of these would be better for what i am doing. I will not have the sa-12s for about a month to 2 months. I would like to buy the amp now. I currently have a jl w6v2. Which amp would work better to do this? i am leaning towards the 1200.1d because the sa-12s are rated for 600rms. I am planning to do as little electrical upgrades as possible also. But if it would be absolutely worth it i would do it for the 1700. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_23922_Hifonics_BRZ12001D.aspx or http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudi…

So I've had the big 3 in my car for about a month and a half now everything was fine until this morning I opened my hood and one fitting was melted. It has 1 0gauge going to the battery and 2 4gauge going to starter and the other going to my fuse box. My car turns off as soon as I turn my AC on my car turns off. Also the 4 gauge going to the fuses had the insulation gone completely melted

  24. So i am still confused on head units.... So I called the local shop where i want to get my car audio equipment installed at, due to their reviews and prices for installation. But the dude on the phone just told me some concerning things... makes me rethink even going there to get the installation done. Or maybe he is right? He says he has been doing this stuff for many years. I told the guy i wanted to get 2 front component speakers installed, a new head unit, and an amplifier for the speakers. The amp will be 4 channels, to allow for upgrade of 2 more rear coaxial speakers later. And the head unit will be one with 3 outputs, front, rear, and subwoofer. The guy …

So , I just noticed that my power cap volt meter is droping to around 11.04 volts when I have my system pounding to its potential - can anyone tell me what to look for as the problem with this - 11.04 cant be right , its usually around 12.5-13.4 , and it drops that low for only a second . My setup is this : Red top under my hood -> isolator -> yellow top in the trunk -> 1.2 farad cap -> amps " Kicker 4ch 70x4rms " , and " Orion 2400D 1200x1@1ohm " . The cap has been grounded seperately from the yellow top - they each have there own , my system is running 4 ga. wire , power and ground .
