Soo what is a good idle amperage for the alternator to have? I've been doin alot of searchin and research, but never really found the answer to this question. I've seen 200a alts that only put out 60-100a at idle. I've also seen 200a alts that put out 100+ at idle. what is a good rating? i know u can get a smaller pulley to make the alt spin faster.\ Just curious because i see a 200a alt i like for 179$ and it does 95a at idle. thats more than i have now cuz i ony have a 95a alt, lol P.s. My transmission went out, secong one in there, plus a new engine. But the alt on a town car and navigator are the same so no worries

I am looking for a fuse holder that will hold 2 ANL fuses that has one 1/0 in and one 1/0 out. Do they exist? or am I stuck? I am using the Stinger 3/0 oval wire to the battery bank in the back, I just dont think a single 300 amp will be enough. Thanks

so i am going to get this out the way right now, if you don't have anything constructive to add please don't post. looking for serious feedback here. i am just curious and have an itch to know, so i am sorry if this seems like a stupid question to you guys. ok so i have a pretty decent handle on car audio, been in and around the scene for years, but most of my expertise in in other forms of electronics, now my room mate and i just got done installing a killer system in a friends cadillac, and we only have 1 possibly 2 depends on how messed up the other one is of the bass knobs we need. they are for 3 older series RF bd1000's. any way my question is what stops me from usin…

This is my first time messing with the GM Data system as my older tahoe didn't have it. I don't care about keeping satellite radio, onstar, or the bose system. I DO want to retain warning chimes, retained accessory power, and steering wheel controls. I'm installing aftermarket head unit, amps, etc. I am looking at either the PAC RP3-GM11 and PAC SWI-RC(~$120), or Metra BX-GM1 and Metra ASWC-1(~$90). Of course saving money is nice, but I don't want to have any integration issues. Just hoping someone has used one or the other, or both, and knows if there are any known issues. Edit: I suppose I should mention I am working on a 2005 silverado.

I have a friend (yeah, that's how it always starts) that says when he tunes his EQ on his head unit, he just leaves it flat across the spectrum. The only thing he ever adjusts is the crossovers on the amp(s). This is the first time I've heard of this. He says the head unit's crossover points are usually set in the wrong place so it won't get the most out of it something like that. I have a DEH-P600UB with the 7-band EQ, should I follow his advice or just tune it to what I think sounds good (no distortion, etc.)

I have a JVC KD-Dv500 head unit. It plays everything, including dvd's. It is dolby 5.1 ready, w/ the digital toslink output. I am looking at a PhoenixGold 5.1 amp for everything except my sub, that has the toslink input. SO, my question is, it I hook up the head unit to the amp with the digital cable, would I still need to use RCA's, or does the digital cable take the place of them? MattB

I had blown one of my subs a few months ago so I unhooked everything and removed from vehicle. After doing some upgrades and getting new subs in, I finally reinstalled them yesterday. The problem I've ran into is that the amps aren't producing any sound. They power up and show that there on, but no sound. What voltage should the remote wire show? This is the only thing I can think of to check. I will say though that when I had a sub blow it blew the fuse between batteries and the amps where underpowered for awhile. Could this have caused internal problems? All help needed fast!!!

I have found these locally for one hell of a deal. I have read mixed reviews on them and was wondering if you would buy them to use. They are brand new and can get them for around 100 a piece. Here is the link to them http://www.cdstandbypower.com/application/...ups/upshrm.html. The ones the guy has are spec'd as follows: sealed agm 95ah at 20hr rate, 350watt at 15min. Now I know these are'nt powermasters, but the slide easily into budget and actually let me buy more fuse holders and wire if they'll work. thanks.

Well, I have been watcking egay for another 275 board, I have been seeing them quite often but never had the money. Well guess what, found another. My plan was to have both amps and make 2 plexi covers with fans to show off the internals. If you guys cant tell I love 2 things and 2 things only, Cerwin Vega and Old school Orion. Gonna wait untill closing day of auction before I bid. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5750172292&rd=1

I am wanting to put an aftermarket DVD player in my 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab. I have factory onstar and xm and want to keep both. I know that I have to get an adapter like this http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pacos2.html in order for it to work. What can I get to in order to retain the factory XM radio? I also have settering wheel controls. I know for the steering wheel controls I have to get a PAC unit in order for them to work.

Earlier this week I had an opportunity to listen to a DD S4 amp. It was pushing a 6.5" component set up-front and one ported 12" in the trunk. Color me impressed, it sounded very good to my ears. I was just curious about other's people's opinions on the DD amps. *Are they reliable? *Are they expensive? *How is their customer service? The 4ch amp is rated at 100x2 and 200x2. Are there any other amps that can perform similarly for lower price? Just trying to weigh out all my options here by using ya'lls keen sense of cost vs. performance. What I really like here is the idea of simplicity. Headunit, amp, a set of comps, and one sub. I'm not looking to compete, but I a…

Ok. Ever since I can remember I have had a small problem with dimming headlights. However, I never really noticed because I don't blast my system full tilt very often and hardly ever at night. For some reason my lights seem to be dimming a lot lately. I currently have a 200amp alternator with 3 deka intimadator batteries. This powers my saz3000d at 1ohm. I thought that I might have a loose connection or my alternator was failing. I started testing voltage and this is where I'm confused. With the bass at nearly full tilt with the lights dimming bad my voltage stays at a steady 13.98 volts. With nothing on it's charges at 14.2. So, my question is how or why is my lights dim…

I have a ssa dcon dual 4 ohm and I bought a mtx thunder 3401 momkblock amp from a friend. I want to wire it to 2 ohms. The amp has two pos and neg outputs. Idk how to wire it. Do I wire it as if it's bridged and do pos of first two outputs with neg of the second two outputs? Just got it today and I did wire it the way I said and it doesn't sound as if it's pushing the full 400 watts. If anyone can get me a wiring diagram for this amp that would help

Hey, i have two autotek mm amps. Both of them have "balanced line inputs." The plug in for this looks similar to a s-video plug. In my manuals it says that the balanced inputs accept line level balanced from 0.4v to 18 volts. Also that the XX-BLD can be used as a line driver. I cannot find the "XX-BLD." And also every line driver that i view only has rca outputs and not the plug that is similar to the s-video plug. I've never used a line driver before but i'd like to. And i have an Alpine 9855 2004 model with 4V pre-outs. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Did a small build in my daily driver and have no dimming of tail/dash lights at normal listening levels. I occasionally listen to it moderately loud when Im in the mood and when the double bass drums hit heavy or the bass guitar digs deep and loud I notice a faint amount of dimming. I just wondered what my next step would be to get rid of it altogether? Here is a list of what Im running. 02 Accord EX-L V6 Coupe with a stock alternator and the car already had a few month old Optima Red top in it. Pioneer AVH4300DVD head unit Phoenix Gold Elite.65cs comps up front powered by a JL A2150 SSA Icon 10 in a 1 cube sealed enclosure powered by a JL JX1000.1D @ 2ohms 4ga power fr…

Alright so my Fi 12 D2 q should be arriving tomorrow. I arleady have my Sundown Saz 1000D. I've been reading as much as I can on here so I just want to make sure I have everything straight. Wiring my sub to 1 ohm I need to take the positive's and run a wire from one to the other andsame for the negatives. Then take a wire from one of the pos and neg's and run them to the amp. I noticed the amp has 2 sets of speakers inputs A & B. I would hook my sub up to one set correct A or b? As for setting up the amp I have a Alpine CDA-9884 it has a subwoofer level 0-15 if I understand this I put the subwoofer level to 15, bass to 0. Take 1000wRms x 1ohm load, Square root of 1…

I own a pioneer DEH-11E, and because I've got a new sub on the way, I want to set everything up right this time. Basically, right now I have most of the settings maxed out and/or close to it. I heard that I should never use the "loud" setting, as it will be detrimental to SQ, so I'm curious, what does the "loud" setting do? Is it like bass boost, where it only boosts one frequency? Also, on my HU I am able to set BASS, TREBLE, MID, and "SLA." What is this "SLA" and what does it do? When I add to it, it seems to do the same thing as the "loud" setting, but that is just what I hear with these ears of mine: what does it actually do? Finally, I'm going to start running m…
