  1. I just installed my new HU, it's a Pioneer DEH-P690UB (not the best in the world, but it gets the job done). It has a usb connection to hook up your iPod and other usb mass storage devices. My question is what brand/make of HDD works? I've already tried a few and they are a no go. Reason is I think they are requiring more juice then the usb cable can provide. So if anyone can point me in the right direction and stop me from wasting more time and money trying out different usb hard drives I'd really appreciate it.

  3. Ok, i've never ran multiple and have come to a barricade here so fill me in. 1 battery up front, 5 batteries in the rear. 400A for bass, 90A for mids\highs. Total Amperage fuses needed- 490A ~ 500A. Ok, first off- I'll have 3-4 runs of 3/0 wire going from front battery to rear battery bank. Right now, i just have 1 3/0 wire ran which is fused with ANL fuse and no fuse at other end because everything is dismantled right now. With 3 runs, i was going to attempt to use a bat terminal that had 3 1/0 connectors on it. I run the alternator to one of those leaving 2 left. The factory electrical wiring goes into the other slot leaving one left. I'm assuming i'll use a distro blo…

I recently swapped out my Pioneer DEH-P5900iB for an Alpine IDA-X001. I absolutely love the usability of the unit, but it lacks the equalizer features of the Pioneer. I'm considering getting either an AudioControl EQL or MA MA15EQX for my front stage. It would be mounted on my sub box, not a dash model. Any recommendations? Thanks, -fp

  5. I got a buddy that just bought a JVC KD-DV7300 H/U. This model does not come with a built in monitor. He is wanting to connect the unit so that the DVD monitor is capable of running all the time. He has a 13" external screen that he has previously used. The unit has a light green wire that is supposed to be connected to the brake line. Is there a way to over ride this? Thanks.

I'm in need of either a 2 or 4 channel amp to drive my 6x8s and 8" midbass speakers. I'm only used to mono sub amps so this question may seem silly. My concern is I want to set a High and low crossover for the midbass. A range like 80 to 250hz while the 6x8's play 250hz and up. A) Do 4 channel amps allow you to set a high and low x-over at the same time? B) Can I just use a 2 Channel amp and buy passive crossovers that will send 80-250hz to the midbass and 250hz and up to the 6x8s?

I was trying to decide on an amp. I was looking at the Lanzar Opti 6000D. Can anybody let me know if they have had an experience or know about it. I will be using it for 8 15's in a ported enclosure from 16-20 cubes tuned at 25 to 28hz. I also plan on using lanzar's line driver.

I can get my hands on a Kar 1000.2t and I just wondered if there were any good, mostly from a SQ perspective but for a daily driver not that fancy. Anyone know if this is a class AB...what apps it would work good for? http://www.realmofexcursion.com/ampguts/Arc_KAR_1000.2T/ I guess a cerwin vega and clarion are the same amp.

I have a 86 150 with a 5.0 in it. It came stock with a 60 amp alternator. My neighbor gave me box full of stuff he took off of a 94 mustang 5.0 H.O. One of the parts happend to be a stock 130 amp alternator. Since i need to get a bigger alternator anyways and strapped for cash i figured i can use this alternator. Its a direct bolt in, but the plugs are different though. My stock one has 2 plugs instead of the one plug. But one of the plugs on my wiring harness is the same style plug on the new(er) one. So wat i did is that i plugged(sp) in the plug that looked the same and hooked up a 4 guage power wire directly to my battery. Installed it and cranked it over, i…

I currently have a Pioneer 9800BT headunit with the ipod interface. I want to run active and unfortunately this headunit is not capable of meeting my needs. I want a headunit that is very SQ and processing oriented. I was looking at the Pioneer 880prs hoping that it could be a direct drop in. What is the difference between the 800 and the 880prs? Also is the new eclipse CD7200MKII far superior then the 880prs? and how does the alpine 9887 stack up in this lineup. This headunit will run to a sundown 100.4 amp which amps Peerless HDS tweets and the sea excel 18nx mids. Any suggestions and opinions would be appreciated.

Well today at the TBP bass wars event, I found out that I'm not getting any voltage readout off the RCA's from the headunit. Tried it with several meters and it wont register anything, just shows 0.00 .....So apparently, I'm not getting any RCA voltage input to the amplifiers... Someone suggested I needed a line driver to solve this problem. My question being, would this solve the probem....being that I can get a cleaner signal and can adjust it to the voltage I want.. ? Thanks for any help guys, it is very much appreciated........I'm still learning, so please bear with me...

  18. Here's my dilema... I've got a few soundstream class a amps all of which are 2 channel amps with a seperate gain for each channel. I recently picked up a rubicon 555 5 channel amp and could use the 4 channels to run my front actively. I've got a class a 6.0 going to my fronts now. Would I really be able to tell the difference??? This is just for personal use and not competition.

Okay I just put it in my new 5000 and I have two amps... Sundown SAE-1000D and SAX-100.4. Well I have two sets of RCA cables going to the 100.4, one set going from the front preouts on the 5000 to channels 1 and 2, and the other set is going from the rear preouts on the 5000 to channels 3 and 4. For some reason I'm not getting any music out of the rears. I can hear a very faint "tv snow-screen" type of sound coming out when I have my ear up to one of the speakers, but that's it. Anyone know what's going on?

Okay about 6 months ago i hit the power cable on my amp and it fried the amp... i had to turn the gain way up to get the same output voltage. Anyways i didnt think much of it but i just spent 610 on a new sub and amp and do not want to mess anything up. Last week i checked the preout voltage and it was at 2.3v... its suppose to be 4. (deh-p590ib) Should i replace it. Do you think theres anyway it will cause amp clipping or distortion to ruin my speakers/amps/subs. I have used my system atleast 30 min a day for the past 6 months like this without any damage and there is no noticeable distortion, but i really dont want any of my new stuff to **** up a year from now thanks

Okay, this is the deal; my current 3SIXTY.2 broke (it's the second one which has broken). The red light keeps blinking and according to Rockford Fosgate it means the Bluetooth chip on the 3SIXTY.2 is broken. I also contacted Rockford Fosgate Europe, they can repair it, but it will cost me 200 Euro's!!! That's insane! Anyways, I am thinking about ditching the Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2 and go for a different brand. The only options I have found so far are: - JBL MS-8 (still not in production, wait will be to long) - Audison Bit-1 (still not in production, wait will be to long) - Macrom EXT.A1DSP (expensive, looks like a redone PPI DCX 730) - PPI DCX 730 (hard to get, no su…

I don't know if you guys even talk about video here, I did a search but didn't find anything. I was wondering what are some good quality 7" or 6.5" headrest monitors? I am putting one in my dash and have been looking at dei and sony. Can't find many companies that make a plain monitor w/o all the buttons on them. Eclipse has a nice one but not shipping till may or june and clarion's are nice but has buttons on them. I was looking at farenheit but I heard they are not good quality and customer service in near zero, and this was from one of their dealers. Also looking at visualogic or something like that, at a dealer but they come with the headrest only. any help would be …
