One of the big things that changed while I was gone from car audio is the 4volt plus rca outputs from head units. My situation is I really want to use an Alpine 7904s or 7903s as my source. These units do not have high voltage line outs but can an Audiocontrol Three.1 fix that for me or is there a better way? Pre-Amp Line Driver: Amplifiers require a high voltage input signal (generally 2 to 5 volts) to operate with maximum dynamic range and the best signal-to-noise ratio. On the other hand, typical source units only produce 1 to 2 volts, if your lucky. In a system where the source unit is located in the front of the car and the amplifier(s) are located in the rear, the…

  7. Alrighty soo I'm looking to finaly get my own amp for my beastly little sub, the oem tc10 from tc sounds. Its a dual 4ohm sub. RMS power is 800 watts but is said to be able to take alot more power than that with a smile. Right now shes being powered by a RF amp that I'm borrowing from my buddy. I guess its rated at like 750watts. It works, but with the power turned all the way up, my sub is beggin for more. I'm not looking to break my bank, but I'm definately not looking for something walmart would cary either. I dont know much about what are good amps now adays, but a couple I've been looking at are the PG RSD1200.1 and the alpine mrd-m1005. What are some other opt…

hello, i recently got 2 alpine type r's professionally installed in my trunk with a kicker 1000.1 mono amp. It was blasting nd bumping for about 2 weeks then i realized that they needed to be mounted because they moved around too much. I got them mounted and they started to make a strange noise. I took it to the installed nd they "fixed" it by fixing the ground substance or whatever....I turned the car on and the noise is still there. I took out the "phone line wire" from the amp and it still makes the noise, the installer said it was probably something wrong with the amp but im not too sure... the subs make a loud croaking nd buzzing sound even when i have them set at 0.…

I'm currently in the process of designing/setting up my first system. I currently have a pioneer deh-p690ub head unit but haven't been able to figure out all of its features yet. Can i have an active front stage with this headunit? I have a set of focal 6.5 V2 polyglass components, not installed, but i'm thinking about returning them to tweeter because after browsing through the threads here I'm sure i can get a better front stage for the money. Any input would be helpful, thanks.

I have 2 Hifonics BXI2607's and I noticed earlier today while listening to my system that one of the amps is making a rattling, buzzing noise when the bass hits. It only does it on the higher frequencies which do not hit that hard, the lower frequencies which are louder and hit harder the amp does not make any noise. The noise is coming from the RCA area of the amp. It is not the amp that I have running to the HU, it is the amp that I used a jumper RCA to hook up. I noticed that the amp does not make the noise until I get the volume up to 20/35 on the HU and gets louder as I increase the volume. I did not even notice it until I was in the back close to the amp, I thought …

Hello everyone. I am having a problem with my amp and i am not sure why. I am running 2 in phase XT's (XTB212) http://www.inphaseaudio.co.uk/xt-range.php...;products_id=49 2 ohms X 2 1400 watts each about (900 RMS) I am running it off a 1800W Kenwood mono block amp http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/5745.html wired in parallel (1 ohms) but after i turn the volume up to a point BOTH the 30A fuses on the amp blows i used to run these subs at 4 ohms and they worked fine but at 1 ohms they are like 2X better so any idea's why i blow fuses at 1 ohms.... i am quite sure my amp is 1ohm stable.. i also have a distribution block to run my 2nd 2 channel amp (400watt…

  16. Ok, so I'll try to keep this explanation short but informative. I have a JL 450/4 and Rockford Fosgate T20001BD. I have a NTB batter in the front...just regular battery. Going from that battery is two 4 gauge power wires. Those go into an isolator. From there the wries each have a 100amp fuse and run to the back of the car to a Optima Yellow Top. The Yellow Top is grounded 1ft. from itself to the car chassis. I have a remote wire going from the Head Unit to the back of the car. That runs into the JL amp and splits there and goes to the Fosgate. Ok so that's the setup, now heres the problem. Ever since I got this new Fosgate amp (previously had a JL 500/1 instead) …

Just out of curiosity has anyone ever used a harrison labs amplifier and are they capable of doing music? They actually look pretty cool and are tiny for the power they claim. After seeing the drag queen most everybody says all the hlab amps are spl burps only. Just curious not really interested in buying one.

  20. I'm looking for a new Alpine and I'm considering the CDA-9885 for $280 or the CDA-9887 for $330. $50 more get's me the Imprint Sound and 24bit Dac. What's everyone's opinion on the Imprint technology? And what improves when going from a 1bit DAC to a 24bit DAC?

I always have in the past but I'm starting to upgrade to more and more powerful systems. The price difference between a run of 1/0 from ebay, to knu conceptz, to using welding wire is a huge. Anyone know if the ebay stuff has the same copper content and adequate insulation?

Ok I'm not that good at this but have a newer amp with 6 chips on the PS sink. Seems to be two transformers and 3 fets each, the output is on other side of chassis. Well the 3rd and 6th one are shorted pos to neg and blew the +12v trace. If shorted then they must be bad, the rest are near same ohms and not on/shorted at rest and all same # chips. Anyway, can I just replace them....what would cause this to happen? Would something else be shot too? They are $15 each so far I've found. Yes this is a junk explode amp, but might as well see what I can do its like new otherwise and 500wx1rms so not bad. I've been told not to substitute parts on new amps, have no idea what was d…
