i do not know if this is the right section for this, i was wondering if you would see any voltage increase in creating a heatshield or putting sound deadening around it to keep it a few degrees cooler

Ok i am in the need of a new alternator for my truck. The stock one that i have is a 65 amp model. My future plans are 2 10" or 12" icons, and 2 1000 sundowns, or 1 1500 soundown. I am planning on getting my alt rebuilt to 150 amps, or get a 200 amp powermaster. I'll be running between 2 and 4 batteries in my bed box(Deka Intimidator Battery's for now). Ill be running atleast one run of 1/0 or 2/0 to each battery in the back (maybe overkill, but i dont want there to be a big a drop in the voltage). I have talked to a couple of mechanics and they all say that if i upgrade my alternator to that many amps that i will be running the chance of catching my truck on fire due…

I'm going to redo my whole sound system and I was going to get a h/o alternator but my stock alternator went out so i had to buy another stock one. So my question is will I be able to add a h/o alternator to my truck with the stock one that I currently have? and if so what do I need to make it work. Please help!!

My friend has an 07 GTI and is thinking of running an AQ 2200D to two Fi Q's. My question is, will this amp be happy powered by the stock alt (120 amp). He doesn't really want to run an extra battery unless absolutely necessary. All suggestions and advice is appreciated.

Realistically, how big of amps can I run (D class) in total wattage on a 136 amp alternator? I checked the specs for a dodge diesel and this is what it said of the output. After looking at the number, I'm thinking I'll only be able to run one sub and to incorporate two of the channels for the sub.

y must everything not work for me =( .... i installed an excessive amperage alt about a month ago and it was not putting out anywhere its intended amount ... it would charge at only 14.1 and voltage drops would be incredible (into the 10s) ... no check charging system came on ... i decided to buy an iraggi to replace the ea alternator ... it still charges but only to 13.9 and now i am getting worse voltage drops and now the check charging system light comes on ... the pulley is smaller and also making a high pitch turning sound that i did not heard before in the ea ... i checked all my wires and it seems like everything is going where it is supposed to go ... the only th…

i upgraded my alternator to an iraggi 260 amp .... i had an excessive amperage 300 amp in there but it was not charging correctly ... it was only charging at 13.9 and would get voltage drops into the low 10s ... i sent it back because i thought the alternator was bad ... i sent my stock one to dom to build me one to work for my car ... i just put it in and am getting similar readings ... this time i am getting around 13.8 (best) and drops to the low 10s .... i understand my t40001 draws 400+ amps of current but i dont think the voltage drop should be that bad (drops like that within 3-4 seconds) ... i am pretty sure the battery is good ... i only have the front battery in…

So I sent in my alternator for repair and the message he sent me was, The rectifier was overheated and the rotor was open (this alternator design is very compact) I have everything broken down for a full rebuild other then the stator now. The stator is in perfect shape still and was never overworked. Just waiting on the parts to install them. So I don't know much on the process it takes to rebuild my alternator sui could someone she some light on this message he sent me.

Soo what is a good idle amperage for the alternator to have? I've been doin alot of searchin and research, but never really found the answer to this question. I've seen 200a alts that only put out 60-100a at idle. I've also seen 200a alts that put out 100+ at idle. what is a good rating? i know u can get a smaller pulley to make the alt spin faster.\ Just curious because i see a 200a alt i like for 179$ and it does 95a at idle. thats more than i have now cuz i ony have a 95a alt, lol P.s. My transmission went out, secong one in there, plus a new engine. But the alt on a town car and navigator are the same so no worries

At the moment I am planning on running 4-6k watts to my subs, and about another 1k to mids and highs. I plan on getting 300 amp alt (of course I will have extra batts) but my question is this, is one 300 amp alt gonna be enough or do I need to run dual alts?

I currently own a 1995 Ford Mustang that I am thinking of trading it in (this car is great and cursed at the same time). This car has a 130Amp stock alternator and I currently have a SAE-1000D powering a Stereo Integrity Mag with 1000W RMS @ 1ohm. I also have a Crossfire CFA302 amp rated at 75W RMS x 2 @ 4ohms. I've never had a problem with these amps, so I never thought about upgrading my alternator to an aftermarket model that produces 200+ amps. Anyway, I'm looking at a few different possibilities for my next ride. I want a Nissan 350Z or a new Mustang GT, but that would require saving up for the next few years. I also thought about getting a truck, either a Toyot…

I have a question about my car or alternator. I have a permanent volt meter inside my car monitoring my electric status due to my audio install, I've noticed that when I'm on the highway at high speed or when at high idle, normally above 2,000 rpm, the voltage drops, below 12.6v and the battery and brake lights start to blink on and off on the dashboard, even with my radio and complete system off. What is happening? Thanks.

I just got off the phone with Ohio Gen, for a 95 Honda Accord they are suggesting $525 + shipping for a 160amp (195peak amp) alternator. Is this a good price? And I got a quote from Dom for $400 +shipping for a 200amp alternator, but have heard many GOOD and many BAD stories about his alts. And I haven't had a call back from EA yet about a quote on an alt. Which would you choose? Thanks, Curt

  21. Here's my new nightmare problem. I have to completely re-build my H/O alternator for my 2005 Ford Ranger XLT. This is a 3.0 V6 2WD and a Iraggi 260 amp H/O Ford 3G Large Case alternator. Due to a limited budget I am pressed to do this myself instead of sending it off for repair. I will be re-building it with a H/O 240 amp re-build kit. Here's some pics of my progress so far. I still need to order the kit so I have to wait to re-build it and test the final results. Here's the rear bearing and slip ring: Rotor assembly has a broken lead: The rectifier this part usually goes bad. It has diodes that take the AC power produced from the Rotor & Stotor and turns it into…

would anyone know how much more on average you can increase the output of a stock alternator just by doing a rewind. i added a second battery which is not much. the second battery is my old battery that is a stock from upfront in the engine bay. i have the 130amp alternator from a 2003 highlander, just need to get to 200A output but i know each alternator is different and will not be able to get much more out of it. thanks to all that can help me

so I knew it was happening, and was in process of saving up for a custom valeo Ohio Generator alternator. current alty decided to crap on my today, so I need to order a new one this weekend. I don't have the 450 to dish out for the Ohio right now, and saw what seems to be a reputable company selling a 200 amp for 210 plus shipping on ebay. BNR alternators and starters? I would rather spend the money on a 160 amp higher quality alty than a 200 amp piece of junk. My experience in past with alternators is iraggi, ohio, green monster, and that's about it. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks! right now battery bank consists of a single hc1400 and hc2000, and p…
