I have heard that a big solid chunk of wire has alot of resistance so thinking along those lines I was wondering if using a wire adapter was bad or not. In case you don't know what I am talking about I am talking about reducing for example 1/0 guage to 4 guage by using one of these http://www.cardomain.com/item/STIS04ADAPT

I measured my GF's CDA-7893's pre-out voltage this morning ... Here are the results. Notes: My multimeter only does AC voltage to 1 decimal point. I only did the subwoofer pre-out, which is rated @ 4 volts. I measured at the end of a 17 foot RCA cable. Battery Voltage = 14.39 volts Subwoofer Volume = +15 (0 dB) All filters off EQ flat No loudness No MX etc. Volume - Voltage 0 - 0.0 1 - 0.0 2 - 0.0 3 - 0.0 4 - 0.0 5 - 0.0 6 - 0.0 7 - 0.0 8 - 0.0 9 - 0.0 10 - 0.0 11 - 0.0 12 - 0.0 13 - 0.0 14 - 0.0 15 - 0.0 16 - 0.0 17 - 0.0 18 - 0.0 19 - 0.1 20 - 0.2 21 - 0.3 22 - 0.4 23 - 0.6 24 - 0.8 25 - 1.0 26 - 1.2 27 - 1.4 …

ok, let's start with the stupid question, are 0 gauge & 1/0 gauge cable the same or are they diff & some people just don't realize it? I see people advertise 0 gauge power cable but the pic has 1/0 clearly stamped on cable. 2nd, I will be using 1/0 with an inline 300a fuse approx 4" from batt. It will go into a non fused dist block to 3 amps.(2g out, & 4g x 2 out) Do I need to to refuse between the block & the amps or does the inline protect all wiring past that point? duhhh, found answer to 3rd question! BTW I finally have everything except the wire & alt so in a week or so I will post some pics of everything & the box build. I know how every…

Anyone have any inside info or guesses as to when car audio manufacturers will be using Toslink cables for connections. Stepping up from a decent RCA cable to a fiberoptic cable made a noticible differnce in my HT set up.

Quick question since I can't find the answer myself. The A5000 is rated at 600x1 (bridged) a 4 ohms. Will it work ok bridged at 2 ohms? I know the old Sound Stream Reference (Ref500) amps would be ok like this. I have 0 experience with Cadence amps though. What do you think?

Holy s**t! How much are you guys paying for alts? I called H.O. Alts & to replace my stock 130 amp with an oem repl 210 amp is $699.00. That doesn't incl tax, ship, etc! BTW this is the only one that won't require any mods or interfere with ecu so it's the cheapest route. Just got sticker shock & wanted to see if this was an average price. Called a couple local places but thier alts require a lot of other hassels with stock elec system.

Can someone tell me a little about the total harmonic distortion value on amps as far as what the max acceptable level should be & what I should look for on one? I have seen most mid range amps at around 0.02 to 0.05. Is this something I need to concern myself with or is the difference going to so little I won't even notice? Thanks

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...mMakeTrack=true second time it's been listed for $200. First time they tried to sell it, it had a $5000 Buy It Now It obviously didnt sell the first time. So I emailed the seller asking for a lower price. They promptly told me to get lost and if I was really interested I would have bid. So is it worth $200 (plus $15 s&h)? Whose that guy on here that has a few? How do you like them?

I'll be running a bi-amp setup in the near future. As of right now the amps will be: Memphis MC3004 (75x4 @ 4 ohms) Memphis ST or MC 1000D (600x1 @ 2 ohms) Part 1: I have never done a bi-amp setup and was curious about the power wire. If I run this through a fused distrubution block, do I need an in-line fuse between the positive battery terminal and distribution block, or will the individual fuses in the block suffice? Part 2: I figured up the current draw on both amps based on the sticky in this section. It looks like: MC3004 will be drawing 32.5A 1000D will be drawing 44A I am currently thinking that I will run a 0/1AWG wire from the battery to the distro block, th…

i bought a new zed audio amp at the beginning of may. zed was giving away free refurbished amps with a new amp purchase. i got a free us acoustics amp. i bench tested the amp as soon as i received it and it played music fine. i put it back in a box and never installed it. on june 2nd it sold on ebay for $160. the guy left me good feedback on june 12th. on august 7th the guy PMs me on sounddomain and says that he finally got around to hooking the amp up and it blows his power wire fuse (the amp doesnt have onboard fuses). i respond immediately, telling him how i tested it. i asked him to measure the resistance of the inputs with a dmm, and look at the circuit board for a…

Ok, yesterday, I rearranged some things behind my head unit, which was working fine. I put everything back and the HU was working fine. After putting my dash back together I was planning on going to my friends apartment, but when I go to turn on the headlights a fuse blows and my dash lights cut out. I try replacing the fuse and when it blows again I check a few things and say screw it and go inside. CD player still works fine. Today I test things out better. I figured out that when the HU was not wired up the problem does not exist. When I plug the HU back in the fuse blows and such. As a matther of fact the voltage at the battery (all wires still connected) I get 56volt…

So I get to the alt shop and talk to the guy. We test my alt with a clamp meter and a volt meter. Here is the results. No accesories 12.7@600rpm 13.9@700rpm 14.5@900+rpm Acc on (no stereo, just lights and A/C) 11.8@600rpm 13.6@700rpm 14.5@900+rpm Now here is the part that gets me. The alt shop told me that I do not need a smaller pully. Shop: "You need another battery and an isolator." Me: Why??? Shop: You have plenty of amps but low voltage. Me: OK, another battery run by itself is going to help? Shop: Sure it will... Me: please explain this to me? Shop: the second battery will no longer be tied to any of the other accories in your truck. Me: thats fine and all, b…
