i am using a dmm to tune my amp. and the voltage i am supposed to reach is 38.73 for 1500 watts. the first time i tried i got it by maxing out the gain and then some bass boost. i have the hu at 32 out of 42 and all eq settings at 0. but i adjusted the frequency and tried again and now i can get it back up as high as it was even when putting it back where it was before. whats the problem? and where should i have my bass knob set at while tuning it? i have done the big 3 and have a stinger spp1500d under the hood with 1/0 running to the amp and have a power acoustik ptid-8310nrbt radio and am going to be using a dc xl 12 if this helps any

I am looking to but 1 18" BTL Fi subwoofer. I can build the box (i hope) and can do a proper job installing it. I have a sufficient enough amp sending 3500 watts continuous power its way. I have 0ga power wire ran 10ga speaker wire. But i have the stock alternator and battery. Is this a problem? would a nice cap handle the difference? Or what should i get to solve the problem?

Mainly im looking for a comparison between the Shuriken and the Kinetik. which would you buy? prices are close enough for that to not be a factor. Both are 2600 amps which is why im comparing them!! Any input would be nice! thanks! let the replies come

Not washed, waxed, or detailed Before Everything plastic that has to come out (doesn't have to but gives you working room) Naked Can you see the difference? 2 bolts later All buttoned up Now for the bad news, when I opened the box up, a little black plastic tab fell out, but I didn't think anything of it. After getting it all in there, I fired up the truck and no voltage showed up. I put the stocker back in there and opened up the black plastic cover on the new one and discovered the stators all bent up from shipping. Whatta bummer!!!! I called up Nate, told him the deal, the new one went back to him today for sameday turn around when he gets it. He w…

I recently purchased a 11zx300.1 for my dcon and I'm planning on installing it friday. After looking at the amp and reading the manual I am confused by this and want to see what you guys think. I already tried contacting kicker but they never responded. There are 2 20 amp fuses on the actual amp and the manual recommends a 60 watt external amp by the battery. From what I learned and have always done is match the fuses on the amp to the external one so 2x 20= 40 amp external by the battery. What do you guys think am I taking crazy pills or what? Also, The cadence amp kit that came with the amp has a external 50 amp fuse. Could I get by with this or should I buy 40 amp or s…

I want to put 4 of these under my car for now. I wired up my sub and mono amp, but when it comes to finding a multi-channel amp I have no idea what to look for. I know that the horns can handle 150w and they are 8-ohms so two of them wired together should equal 4ohms. So if I have 4 horns that means I need a amp that does 300x2 at 4ohms right? My main problem is that most amps that say 300x2 at 4ohms say bridged and I'm a noob and don't know what bridged means that is what I need help with. Hello! This is my first post here. Crossing my fingers that I'm not breaking any forum rules. I have a 12 inch GCON ordered and the wait is killing me already. I've already purchased an amp and box for this sub and I'd like to have any willing opinions on my choices. The amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_43132_Hifonics-GLX1800.1D.html The enclosure: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19279_Belva-Sub-Box-1SV12B-Belva.html A few questions: How did I do? Will this pound like crazy? How much impact will my smaller than suggest enclosure have on the sound? Ported good? How should I wire this beast-sub to this amp? (I'm thinking just running it at 650w @ 4ohms t…

ok well i dont know if this is exactly where im supposed to put this topic, so correct me if i'm wrong. I'm looking to start making some stuff for my dorm room next year, and i was wondering, what some good brands of amplifiers that are out today in the home audio spectrum. i mean power amplifiers, for subs and such, and also some other good 4-8 channel amplifiers for speakers. I assume i can just use a home theater receiver for the speakers and such, but as for the power amplifiers, im lost thus far. What are some brands that you all like, that y'all recommend. ive been looking at some Crown, but i dont know. My dad has meridian, but thats out of my price range for s…

What do you guys think the best amp would be for my SSD 15 - Copper Coil - DVC 2 Ohm I was looking at the hifonics brutus 1209d - (1200 rms @ 1 ohm ) - $174 shipped The owner of an audio shop down the road from me said that he had a planet audio amp for $200 that puts out 900 rms @ 1 ohm. Thats my two options right now that i'm looking at. I don't really need anything above 1k RMS because its not really needed for my SSD Right?? I don't really want to spend much over 200, but if you guys think that those two options above aren't good at all i'll reconsider. I just wanted to run it buy some of you guys for advice before I drop this money on an amp. ALL information is…

Well the last couple days my "check charging system" light has been coming on so I went out today and my car is only charging at around 11 volts.. its driving and staring fine so I dont understand. I haven't had any audio in my car for months now which makes it even more weird. . Right now I have a 220 amp alt and just 2 of my batts in the car. Could this only be the alt messing up? Is there anything I can check before I swap alts?

  18. Sunday i finally got my amp installed at the local shop.. (soundstream ref 2.640) I drive an 06 xterra so we put it in "gully" of the back above the spare tire. Drove home.. noticed a slight smell figured it was the amp burning in... drove to work monday am.. no issues .. driving home monday the amp started cutting out on me.. got home lifted the "cover" of the area where the amp was noticed it was VERY VERY hot to touch and the amber light on .... figured wow guess there is not enough airflow..and the amp over heated...(not sure if you ever saw the back of an xterra but this is a big space) so figured i would just take the cover off... drove to work this am.. no proble…

i have a 2nd post similar to this but not as on point so ive made this one to nail down some questions and make things more searchable in the future. coworker was setting gains on an amp the other day and what he was doing got me thinking. if you follow mecp and set gain off a 40hz tone wouldn't the power output of that amp change drastically if the box were tuned to say 29hz or 55hz (something 1/2 or more octave above/below the frequency you are generating? or transversely if the box were tuned at 40hz...) the thermal handling of both amp and sub (assuming that's one thing you do such a procedure to keep in check) would change drastically while playing music. so wou…

What was your favorite amplifier you have ever owned, and why was it your favorite? Just a fun topic that involves some retrospect. I was listening to my system, just taking it in today on the way home from work. I had to do too much thinking about my favorite comp set ever and still haven't really nailed down my fave, my favorite sub was simple, but the amp took a little thought. I had to weigh out a few, but the top few were definitely easy to recall. So give it up... The favorite you ever owned and why.

Quick question since I can't find the answer myself. The A5000 is rated at 600x1 (bridged) a 4 ohms. Will it work ok bridged at 2 ohms? I know the old Sound Stream Reference (Ref500) amps would be ok like this. I have 0 experience with Cadence amps though. What do you think?

So Shizzzon got my attention with some cheap 4/0 gauge he got. I'm thinking of adding a couple of 4/0 grounds and a couple 4/0 runs from alt to my front batts. I have never worked with the stuff before. I will be upgrading my alt to a 400 amp eventually so I'm trying to plan ahead. Since the length of these runs will be shorter than 6-7 feet will there be any benefit vs 0 gauge? Is there a way to fuse 4/0 wire? Also what lugs do you use for your 4/0 wire the only ones I found have a minimum buy amount of 10?
